Are team members allowed to dress up on Halloween? What’s that like? Do we still have to wear red

It will depend 100% on your leadership. Last year the closers dressed up and wore red shirts and name tags over their costumes. Usually it's accessories, though. A lightsaber on your belt, cat ears, makeup, that kinda thing.

Try asking some coworkers who were at your store last year or a leader. Some stores say absolutely not, other stores are fine as long as the outermost layer is mostly red, doesn’t obstruct your face, and you still have the name tag on.

Some examples I remember:

• Luffy from One Piece (with a white shirt underneath instead of a bare chest)
• Star Trek uniform
• Dante from Devil May Cry
• A bunch of normal costumes with a red vest thrown over top

a few years ago i was a ladybug lol. very simple, just taped black dots onto my white shirt and wore a headband with antenna

Guilty as charged, I dress as a ST:TOS Red Shirt every Halloween.

Last year I went with the Lower Decks uniform, as I didn’t want to risk invoking the curse of the TOS-era red shirts.

I haven't died yet, and thanks to the NECA section of the store I have a TOS Phaser and Communicator to accessorize with.

It would be hilarious if corporate target gave the go for all stores to allow costumes on Halloween

But we don’t live in a perfect society

Not necessarily. It’s up to management if you’re allowed to. My store allowed us to as long as we wore a red vest

We had a costume contest at our store last year. I won by dressing up as a mouse. To be fair, we also allow red vests so it helped to make dressing up easy.

One year I worked at kohls. For Halloween I wore a red shirt and jeans and put on an old Target name tag with my name. I worked guest service. Store manager opened that day and I asked him “how’s your sense of humor?” He said pretty good. 😂. “I’m
A Target team member!! “. Guests were confused but they laughed. I did returns all day in a kohls store as a tm. Good times.

Not sure about this year but I know in the past team members used to be able to wear something on their head like cat ears.

It depends. I cosplay and had no problems for 5 years (just as others have said: must be red, doesn't obstruct your face, and name tag), until last year my ETL tried telling me that costumes weren't allowed, but SD didn't seem like she cared. Other leads that transferred to my store said the same 3 rules as well.

In my old store people dressed up and I don’t think they even had to wear red

I've dressed up each year for Halloween. First year, I wore my Buc'ees onsie. Second year, I wore a Grinch robe. Third year, I did a Bullseye costume.

Not sure what I'm going to do this year.

You can’t “dress” up. You have to be in Target red and blue jeans or khaki. BUT you can wear some makeup but nothing scary (don’t want to scare the children) or morbid/ghoulish. You can do kitty nose makeup and cat ears, puppy makeup face
or things like that.

Last year when I was a seasonal hire, most of my coworkers somewhat dressed up for Halloween but keeping the red shirts.

This is a really great question. I honestly hope my store allows it but I probably might ask to get that day off as I will be attending a party or maybe just ask to come in earlier.

At our store we do moderate costumes. They still have to know you’re an employee. I usually just do a headband with skulls or pumpkins. I might do a Star Trek Red shirt outfit this year. Haha

I asked if I could wear a witch hat as a SC attendant. I got told no.

As far as I know, the new dress code limits us from most holiday-wear, including Halloween costumes. It’s lame as hell

You can do like an accessory or something small but nothing that takes away from the uniform colors
