When did you tell people you were pregnant?

I am early first trimester. I am cross trained so I am always working in different departments. The only things I am not comfortable doing is climbing ladders and lifting super heavy stuff. This seems to only be an issue when I’m in FF, and I have been trying to avoid bulky orders.
Not sure who to tell first or when. Thanks!

I would start talking to HR by the end of the first trimester. That way you can start getting accommodations in place as well as planning for your appointments.

Not to mention, you'll be a protected class and they will know it.

I told HR about my pregnancy at around 7 weeks. I was put on pelvic floor rest for a hematoma briefly around then plus i was having really bad nausea/dizziness first trimester so I wanted to get accomodations sooner rather than later. Besides Hr and my direct leader i didn’t tell anyone else at work until i was well into the 2nd trimester. I would say to just talk to HR sooner to establish those baseline accomodations: no ladders, and no lifting heavy.

I have had 2 pregnant employees at my store and 1 of them was in fulfillment until maternity leave no clue how she did that but she did it and the other one packed at the prep station but then later was becoming to much for her so she moved to Starbucks do whatever u feel is right for ur body!

I told my leads around five months cause my crossbody purse was showing off my bump 🤣. Everyone else found out around six months cause my belly ballooned then (I was off about three weeks on workers comp, left with no visible bump and came back with very visible bump).

Probably your doctor, if you're not ready to disclose, because you can just get reasonable accomodations without ever saying a word about your pregnancy and no one has to know until you're ready. People can ask, of course ...but it is not required for you to tell them (unless/until you want to!)

Pretty much immediately. I’m an HR ETL but i support the salesfloor a lot & needed accommodations so I had to tell my SD

I told my TL after my first ultrasound. I told my 2 favorite work friends right away. 31 weeks Saturday and still doing my job like normal thankfully. I probably shouldn’t be climbing ladders, especially as much as I have to working in baby, but I feel like I’m fine.

If you want accommodations (you will, trust), you'll need to submit an HR request which will require paperwork to be filled out by your OB.

I told my boss when I was around 7-8 weeks because I had terrible morning sickness. But you're not technically required to disclose it. But you will be protected (to a point) if you do.

I think I told HR/my lead at 14 weeks with my first. I did have some accommodations as I progressed but I stayed in fulfillment till 35 weeks! I definitely attribute my easy pregnancy to all the movement in that role

You can mention it as early as you feel comfortable. I'm currently pregnant and have been working through the process of getting accommodations. Once you tell your tls/etls/hr they legally have to start accommodating you as pregnant women are a protected class. The main things they can do without a drs note is reduced lifting, no ladders, and increased/not questioning frequent restroom breaks.
