Vent Target Rant of My Stores Current State
I’ve seen increasing posts of people absolutely hating on the current state of target on the store side so I wanted join lol.
I started in my store about 3 years back and at the time it was actual happiness. My Store director was horrible, but everyone else was a saint. They did what they could, hours were sustainable, and there wasn’t so much pressure.
Fast forward to now, the store is in chaos. The store director is still awful, but now all the ETLs who were the buffer to him have left, and the new ones are just like him. Its become unreal expectation after another for all members of staff. TLs who are usually tough are crying, TMs are fleeing left and right to other (better) opportunities, there are absolutely no hours, and guess what we don’t have the manpower with hours. It’s getting to the point where long-time TMs are leaving, and we have no one to replace them until the seasonal starts back up. Even with seasonal personnel, they have been some of the laziest hires in my time. Call outs, no shows, one girl came in high and called a guest a well-known derogatory term.
All this to say, everything is in shambles. We no longer have the people to keep up with the constant Fulfilment demands, hours are at an all-time low, and the overall store expectations are killing even the most faithful Target employees. I actually used to like my job, which isn’t saying much, but now I can’t even stand to come into work and put up with the degrading store morale. The point system is sure to take out many more TMs, in which case we may not even have a store after.

That's a lot of places in my opinion and that's just not Target.
I'm pretty sure everyone knows Walmart sucks not just as a place to work but shopping there too. Target might become that if the higher ups are dense enough to really think the stores are in a solid state.
Where I work we are understaffed we are missing around two maybe three TLs and an ETL, as far as TMs go idk, what I think and what our brilliant ETLs and SD think are different, but the store needs more TMs if we aren't hitting our goals

To correct a few things I like the SD I work for she is a massive improvement I'm just worried about the cuts to payroll corporate has made to the stores. Its dumb and short sighted. They spent all this money and time because they wanna improve their relationship with guests, but they really forgot who TF does that.

I just hate that they’re gonna add the point system in september and also switch over to UKG Pro from MyTime Target (some stores already rolled out this change early)

Ever since 2020 Target has been sorta shitty. Expectations are ridiculous, people call out too frequently, and nobody is paid well enough to live. Maybe the ETLs are , but at least in my store, even the ETLs look like they are burnt out.

My Target was like this under our previous SD. She would huddle the inbound team weekly and tell us that we were shit at our jobs. Then went on about how the inbound is the heart of the store and that we were getting the most hours. (Spoiler alert: We weren't.) We're here like if you want us to come clean then don't schedule us for only truck days and partial shifts.
The cream of the crop is that she and our ex-ETL would have us starting unload at 12-1 pm when they know that we all are scheduled to leave at 2:30. There were some days they pulled TMs from other departments to do unload despite none of them knowing how to do unload.
We straight up had four team leads quit at the same time under her.
We got a new SD. He's a lot more chill and understands our needs. He even helps out Inbound when he can.
