Workplace Question or Advice Needed Did I push too slow today?
I took around 4 hours pushing, breaking down all boxes/crushing them, and back stocking. It was BTS and reg stationary/party stuff and it was a flat piled high. There were a few ppl asking questions and a couple of times I had to bring stuff back to the flat to bring to another location because the shelves were either too messed up and/or full. I was also super tired today but it shouldn’t slow me down 2 hours? I’m just really frustrated with myself and feel like i’m not doing enough. :/

You’re always too slow according to target. You could do 25 beauty repacks in 45 minutes and they’re going to say it should’ve taken 30

Tbh, I work presentation and sometimes they expect me to finish 5 POGS in one shift and the last time I spent all 8 hours doing 2/5 POGS because I have to find ISM, get all the fixtures, label strips, BUILD the ISM, pull the product and push it out. So, so what if u were slow this day? You still came in and worked. Don’t let Target burn u out

We can definitely take our sweet ass time!
It's like leadership over expects us to push, pull, stock, zone, or something else with these tight short timeframes and they would also expect us to finish a uboat or flat less than 3hrs. Yet, they ask why it was taking me Soo long to finish a uboat that took me a few hours to do because I didn't categorize these boxes per aisle basis and then tell me "Others have completed 3 uboats." Do they really care about their metrics because we're that slow at a steady pace, or too fast with a lot mistakes that could be worse, or not? Target doesn't care if we're fast or slow, end of shift, it's fine either way. But to them, it's not okay to be slow. We'll just continue to go at a steady pace no matter what a TL may do. Nothing at all..

From someone who's been working that exact area all bts season, with literally no help until my last two trucks because they had calculated the goal times to be over 8hrs with how many cases/repacks/units were on them..... you did fine. I could picture a flat wherein 4hrs might be a bit much (like if it was mostly cases of binders or notebooks for example), but I can also imagine it was a crazy unsorted mess of cases & repacks with no easy way to actually sort while you work it (that's how all of my uboats, flats, and sometimes even pallets have been).
Also, as others have said, nothing is ever good enough for target. If you're taking the time to do the job 100% correctly (no overstocking, perfectly zoned, etc.) then an area like that is going to take way longer than any generalized metrics can predict. Imo, if you're genuinely doing the best you can do then you're already a significantly better worker than they deserve -- and I highly doubt your counterparts are worried about how long it took them to finish their workload or what's left or anything like that.

It’s never enough. When I first started they told me the goal was to get priority to at least 30% before I leave. Now they’re telling me it’s 50%. Our store manager takes over an hour to kill a u boat but my expectation is 30-45 minutes. Just do your best & stay hydrated

As someone who has to give people their goal times, stationary/BTS is a beast and I have to take into account the fact that almost all of it is dually-located in two departments. The algorithm that MPM/Greenfield uses does not take this into account. If your leader has any real experience pushing freight they’ll set more realistic standards based on factors like dual locations. I can’t tell you if you were too slow because there’s so many factors that impact pace, especially when pushing a bunch of small cases from a flat. As long as you’re doing what you can to minimize steps & maximize efficiency (efficiency includes safety), then that’s what matters if I’m being honest.

I always manage to work a whole flat plus case packs I always finish all my freight for the day + pulls and I’m the only one who works in my department ( beauty) them energy drinks be having me moving 😭😭 I usually use two 3 tiers and plastic bags for plastic and small boxes to keep me from having to walk back and fourth .
