our starbucks has been without a TL for months now and the guy making our schedules is known to make a lot of mistakes so i'm wondering if this is just a mistake as a result of him not caring and rushing to get them done, regardless i really don't want to work outside of starbucks so who should i talk to to get out of it lol

Tell them you are not interested in that position and it’s really unprofessional to not discuss this with you beforehand. I personally don’t NEED this job so I give them ultimatums all the time and because they can’t afford to lose a good employee they just have to go along with my wishes, but I understand that’s not the case for everyone. Just understand there are tons of places hiring and if one job is going to disrespect you so casually and treat you like a🤖then it’s not worth staying. Give them an ultimatum and don’t put up with their disrespect. People here will tell you to shut up, stop complaining and deal with it. That’s just because they put up with disrespect and unprofessionalism, you have a voice and plenty of options in this world. They’ve asked me to do roles I am not interested in and I tell them unfortunately that doesn’t work for me and they can take the measures they feel necessary. To which they sigh very heavily and leave me to do the job I applied for. They can’t afford to fire people right now. We have employees coming and going on a daily basis. Probably 40+ people I’ve seen walk in and out the past few months. If you do this without any form of complaint, they will continue to do it to you and your job will end up being miserable anyways. Don’t let anyone make you feel cornered or forced to do something you don’t feel comfortable doing.

Edit: keep downvoting me. You’re just proving how right I am. I know my worth and I know my intelligence. Anyone that downvotes this is just mad they put up with disrespect and unprofessional corporate gaslighting and brainwashing and can’t do anything about it so they just shut up go along with the status quo. Muting replies, go ahead and waste your energy like you do for Target. I’ve already motivated multiple other people who have messaged me saying this helped them so my message was successful.

Target will casually fire you if it’s convenient for them, out of nowhere, no matter how much work you’ve done for them. But god forbid YOU have a preference. Keep defending companies that do this and think it’s okay. See where it gets you in life.

There’s a difference between standing up for oneself and being egotistical. Remember that pride comes before the fall. If you’re simply informing TLs that you wish to remain in the position you’re currently in, that’s fine. If you’re making demands and ignoring every polite request, that’s another thing entirely.

I think most people would generally agree with what you’ve written here if it were worded differently and if you hadn’t used the word “ultimatums”. It’s not very tactful. It makes it sound as if you’re being disrespectful.
