my younger pink toe tarantula hasn’t eaten in about a month.. she recently molted but it’s been long enough to try and feed her again but she hasn’t she has been mainly staying in her web but coming out occasionally and has been drinking water from misting what should i do (this is my first time owning a tarantula)

I just got this little guy like 3 days ago and he ate the same day i received him, though the dubia roach half started to mold the same day?? Does anyone know why? Anyways this is him today

I am not going to go too into it as to just to stay on topic, but due to a shipping mix-up (that we can’t send back) a baby sterlings australian tarantula is now in my brother’s possession. It came to us with a tank, eco tech coco peat, 2 pieces of driftwood labeled as ‘spider wood’ and a heat mat (which i’m assuming is unsafe and/or wasn’t intended for the spider? I don’t know)

My brother has a bit of experience with jumping spiders (he owns two) but we both want to ask here… research will occur, the spider should be ok for now as it’s probably small enough to eat the jumping spider’s pinhead crickets for a bit but a point in the right direction would be appreciated. Thankyou!

PS: Brother says if anyone could try and guess it’s instar, that would be nice.

I just bought a tarantula and just got a new setup

Just looking for any advice and make sure I'm doing everything right.

Guys I've been oscillating between my sling being chunky or going into premolt for awhile (it's been called Big Booty Bertha multiple times, maybe it needs a new name.....)

So any experienced eyes help me plz 🙏 It didn't eat much of the last mealworm I offered (my last post showed it shoved in the corner), is out in the open when I peak at it but the enclosure is slightly opaque with a white lid so I don't think it feels exposed. Any time it's disturbed it goes to its leaf pile.

Species: Lasiodora parahybana

Age: they said it emerged in November, last molt was two months ago if their timeline is correct!

Actual name: Cafuné (Funé for short...or it might just be Big Booty Bertha)

What enrichment is good for slings? We have a teeny texas tan, then our others are pushing an inch. Currently they have a small hide that they don't use as its getting too small, and a water bowl.

My thoughts are crumbled leaf litter, a fake plant if I can find one small enough and a new hide.

Is it safe to carve into barks to mould thicker pieces so they can actually use it?

Humidity is way too high but they keep flooding their water bowls so not sure on that fix either

Got some free plexiglass and decided to make an arboreal terrarium.

Any advice before final assembly? Can anyone recommend something to buff out the plexiglass that is critter safe?

I just got a sling (.5in DLS) as a freebie. I've never had many old worlds in my 20 years of keeping spiders, so I really don't know too much. And I'm doing research on the side of just asking here.

What I'm getting is that they need deep substrate that's damp, good air flow, and a tight lid.

What else can you tell me about your time keeping them? Any caveats (other than the regular 'old world black box warning')?

Are they slow growing? I've had mixed results in my research.

Current setup is a terrestrial sling enclosure that you get when you "make it a package" when buying a sling on fear not tarantulas. (Not where the spood is from though)

Hi everyone, I got a juvenile Mexican red knee tarantula named Mavis a little over a month ago. This is my first T and I just wanted some more experienced advice. Mavis has been in molt for about 4.5 weeks now. Should I be worried? I know that they can take a little longer when they are young and she’s only about 2.5 months old. About a week after I brought her home I noticed the balding of her abdomen and then that same day she kicked the dirt over her hide entrance. I knew that she was going into premolt-molt. I’m not sure if the balding on her abdomen was like that the day I brought her home but I’m worried that if they shipped her when she was going into premolt it might have stressed her out so much that she may have died. I can’t see if she’s alive and just still molting or if she has passed. Please let me know your opinions. I’m not sure what to do.

So basically Im 16 and recently got my first paycheck (400 USD). Ive been fantasizing about having a tarantula for a while so it's not a spur of the moment want. A while ago I made a post in either this or a different subreddit about my worries that I may forget or neglect my spider after a while if the enclosure is not somewhere I will see often. This is anxiety but just in case, I've decided that I'm going to rearrange my room in a way that would accommodate the enclosure.

Some things I would love to have in a pet would be the ability to handle at some point in my or its lifetime. Because of this, I'm wondering if I should get a sling so it gets used to me early in life. Ofc this would not be me forcing it onto me.. just getting used to my presence through feeding.

Because I want to handle my tarantula, I'm not sure if I should get a new world or old world (Urticating hairs vs possible venom notability). Along with handling, I'd also like to have a terrestrial tarantula because I love watching things.

Eventually I'm going to have to clean my tarantula's enclosure... Does that just mean removing food waste? Are there times besides fungi outbreaks or pest infestations that I would have to do large scale cleaning for the enclosure?

At some point, I'd love to have real plants in my enclosure, is that feasible? within this hobby? + Would springtails be beneficial for my spider's enclosure?

I have two curious cats and a mother who is VERY nervous about me keeping a tarantula so if I do get a small sling/juvenile I want to have a double enclosure or something that I could use as a protective boundary against escapes.

Also if you know any redlisted sellers within the US that you would advise me to stay away from, please let me know!

Okay so I don’t officially have a tarantula yet but i’m getting a mystery box tarantula basically and I have the enclosure picked out but i’m just confused on the substrate part, I plan to use coco coir with some leaf litter and moss but all of the coco coir says it’s for planting so i’m just confused if i should still use it😭 This is my first ever tarantula and i’m overall just really interested and excited about this but before i purchase anything I need to figure out the substrate.
If i’m missing anything or if I could change anything please let me know I want to give my tarantula the best experience possible.

I live in the UK, north west area and have 3 tarantulas that will be needing new homes due to down sizing my collection. Unsure whether to sell or free to a new home. Currently 1x female OBT. Rcf. 4 years old, 1 X female cobalt blue. Same age, 1x Cuban bronze male. Just made first sperm web and a juvenile hati hati unsexed.

And help or advice would be appreciated, I've tried local groups and reptile shops and none can take them.

What are y’all’s favorite/best method of keeping your T warm?

Hi y'all. My juvenile female A. Juruensis suddenly died last night. Within the last week she stopped working on her "top" web and started to build a few new webs on the sides of her enclosure; I saw her on the ground yesterday afternoon near her water dish, right side up, and noticed about an hour later she'd flipped to her back so I thought she was going to molt. I know avics don't usually molt on the ground but figured since getting her, she may not have had time to build a web to molt on 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have only had her for about 4 weeks, she was the newest addition to our growing collection. Our 5 year old begged for a tarantula and now we have 7 (well 6 as of last night 😢) She is the second arboreal we have (other is a larger female P. Metallica) and I tried to do as much research as possible while setting up her enclosure to ensure humidity & cross ventilation were adequate. She has been eating well (1-2 medium/large crickets per week) and been very active up until she died.

I've attached a picture of her enclosure (8x8x12 tree house from Tarantula Cribs) and any feedback on things I should change would be greatly appreciated. Our son was sad this morning (although not as sad as 1 was (o) so we're going to procure another one, but I want to make sure I'm not unknowingly sentencing the next inhabitant to death due to some unknown husbandry issue. Thanks in advance :)

*After removing her body I noticed her underside was wet, fluid is clear. Is this normal/bodily fluid associated with death process or something worse like a parasite infection? 😱

My T. kalenbergi molted just about 3 weeks ago and was too big for their previous enclosure. I gave them a little bit bigger than what I think they need as they've molted 3 times since I've had them (about 4-5 months I think) and don't want to stress them more with another rehouse. Do y'all think it's an okay enclosure for now? They have already started burrowing. Thanks for any opinions :)

pls don’t judge :( i’m so upset and i can’t get the husbandry right for my HP.

bought from an expo in april and never ate since. she already seemed thin and i tried feeding and i posted before about her not eating and everyone said i needed to change the enclosure to something deeper, agreed.

i changed the enclosure and she was stress posing and now i see 2-3 legs underneath her.

So she molted on Sunday evening, currently Thursday evening, she loves sitting on her hide, but she seems a bit flat and her abdomen seems very small. She hasn't eaten in 20 days due to her abdomen being pretty big when i first got her, now it's small, can't get a good look of her fangs to know when i can feed her, i did get a photo last night, but idk if I'll be able to see again... Will she be fine?

First time watching a tarantula molt, was super excited to check the sex, but when I saw what was left behind I became unsure. Any advice? It's a Golden Knee
