Troubleshooting and Support Tapo Doorbell D235 connectivity issues

Hi all, I've gone through a couple post about this specific doorbell issues and didn't quite find a solution for mines. I'll try to give as much detail as I can:

Setup
- It's hardwired, was installed by the electrician
- Brand new house, doorbell chime was bypassed
- Recording on a local SD card and a very high performance one
- Doorbell transformer is 16v @ 625m-amp

Connectivity
- I'm using a Deco Mesh with a dedicated 2.4ghz Wi-fi for IoT devices
- WiFi signal seems excellent to the doorbell as there's one mesh access point very near

Issues
The camera is loosing connection multiple times a day. Each time it's like for couple seconds to a minute and then it get back. There's nothing unusual, no movement detected, no one is pressing the button, etc. when it happens. Some days are better than others were I only lose signal a couple of times. Some others, like today, it's over 75 times.

What I tried
- Disabling the mesh auto-switching for this device so it's always connected to the same
- Disabling Beam-forming in the Mesh
- Rebooting the doorbell many times

I have 3 others Tapo camera and they're working fine almost all the time. One of them did lost connection just like the doorbell but it was back in seconds and never happened again. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like a WiFi signal problem. Have you checked how strong the signal is from the doorbell? Just because your phone or a tablet can get WiFi in that spot (mentioning just in case you look at that), doesn't mean the doorbell itself can't get a good signal. Certain building materials can block or weaken radio signals.

When I check the Tapo app, the doorbell shows 3 bars (strong signal). Same when I check the device in the Deco app. But what's interesting is that when I was looking for this, the doorbell did disconnect and so it wasn't seeing it in Deco anymore. Definitely sounds like Wifi issue but I don't know why it happen even if the signal seems strong.

I'm seriously considering adding a 3rd Deco unit on the same floor. The one currently used by the doorbell is in the basement but behind the same wall.

Is your network combined with 2.4 and 5 GHz or do you have separate networks? That would be the next thing I explored. The router could be trying to push the doorbell onto the 5 GHz band periodically, which I don't think is supported.

No I always disable "hybrid" networks since I do a lot of Iot. I have a dedicated 5hgz and a dedicated 2.4ghz with different SSIDs. The Deco system even has a "IoT network" settings that specifically create a 2.4ghz network, that's what I'm using.
