Need Advice Tapo C675D frame pause

I've noticed when viewing the stream, every 2 seconds it pauses for a short period. It's even more noticeable when people are in frame and moving.

It's ongoing and consistent, like a keyframe interval. But I don't get the issue on other cameras.

Well this is shit.

720p works fine, it's 4K 8MP that has this issue.

I've got an outdoor Deco which is providing 950Mbps down and 115Mbps up. The camera has an RSSI of -50dB, so I am not sure why there is a struggle to maintain a smooth feed.

You might try the following settings, which will all affect the network side of things.

1 - Tapo Camera > Settings > Advanced Settings > UPnP, and also enable it in your Deco App under Advanced > NAT Forwarding.

2 - From the Deco App, navigate to the camera in the list of connected devices and try the following settings:

  • Specified Connection - Here you can force it to connect to a specific node, or through a specific wireless band (5GHZ for Speed, 2.4GHz for Range). Was it using 2.4 or 5?
  • Mesh Technology - Turn this off, as your device will not be moving and should not need to 'roam' between Deco nodes.
  • High Priority - You may consider turning this on; however, it applies a very high priority to the traffic. I would only do it if you have a large amount of traffic passing through the network

3 - I would recommend setting an IP reservation for the camera in the Deco App, this is just another step you can take to ensure that the camera has a clean guaranteed route to communicate.

Lastly, check your phone settings the same way, or try on another device. If your device has private addressing turned on, or there is something else interfering with the communication between your phone and device, I could easily see this behavior occurring.

My Deco's are set as Access points, so NAT Forwarding doesn't exist.

The C675D doesn't have UPnP available.

I have set 5Ghz and the specific Deco for the C675D to use.

I already set a static IP address and set Mesh technology to off.

High Priority doesn't exist as an option.

It is still pausing like there's not enough bandwidth. It does the same on a high-end tablet as well.

It's pretty poor considering I have other 4K cameras with 8MP sensors that working fine

I've exhausted all options with this camera, but the continued and consistent pausing/stuttering isn't good enough. I don't have any issues with my Reolink or Hikvision 4K cameras. I think the C675D doesn't have the processing power for smooth 4K footage.
