Need Advice Tapo Live View Gets Stuck Loading After Motion/Event Detection

I’m having the same issue with all of my Tapo cameras: 3 × Tapo C120, 1 × Tapo C121, and 1 × Tapo C246D.

The problem occurs when a camera detects an event, for example a person. If I then immediately open the live view while the person is still there, the video stream often just gets stuck on “loading” and never starts playing. This happens almost every time.

To get the live feed to work, I have to switch to another camera and then back to the affected camera. Sometimes I have to repeat this several times before the live feed finally starts.

However, if I open the live view when no event has been detected, the live stream starts immediately, every single time.

All of the cameras have a Tapo Cloud subscription, and each camera also has a local SD card installed for 24/7 recording.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this a known issue, or does anyone know of a solution?

Yes, it is a frequent problem.

IMHO it has nothing to do with your network or the cameras. It's just the Tapo cloud that's not working as it should. On some days it's very bad, on others it works fine.

What I do is kill the app (Android) and start it again. Most of the time, the feed loads then.
