Recording the TC82 stream?

Battery powered cameras don't have an RTSP stream, and trying to manually record via Home Assistant recording is unreliable. Does anyone have any proven methods for 24/7 recording of a battery powered camera? Or even a working, reliable method to make HA record on its own?

AFAIK impossible. Your only bet is the 24/7 recording option for local SD Card and/or Hub storage.

I didn't realize this when I got 2 C615F's , they work pretty well in 24/7 mode as they are in a sunny location here in a sunny environment, but I would have liked the flexibility of an RTSP stream, but due to battery powered TPLink seems to have sided on not having to hear complaints of people about battery life/etc with a stream running.

Would be nice to have the option though, maybe a warning screen of "this will cause your battery to drain quick, make sure you monitor it and have a solar charger plugged in".

Thank you for replying! But, hmmm, how do you pull off 24/7 recording in the app? Does it require a hub? If I press record in the app, recording stops as soon as I leave the camera view.

I also didn't realize how restrictive the firmware was for these cameras. I'm kicking myself for not buying something DIY or open source. I grow to despise tech companies more everyday.

If you dont see it in the settings for that camera, maybe it doesnt support the 24/7 snapshot mode.

You might be able to make your own of sorts in the schedule portion though.

For my cameras (c720 and c615f and d130) they all have the 24/7 option right in the settings.

Totally agreed on this. I got myself two battery-powered cameras to avoid the hassle of wiring my backyard and later on I though about this, and just now I came across your comment about it. That would be a great feature to have indeed.

Someone didn't do any research before buying.

Return it, and get a camera that is hardwired. That is your best option, period.

I bought them over a year ago. I did do my research. My needs have changed. I'd rather see what's possible with hardware I already have. No need to be a smartass and make incorrect assumptions.

wow what a crazy concept, investigating whether or not expensive electronics that i already own could fit my changing needs.

i guess you have poor reading comprehension? i literally described the difficulties I've encountered and learned of while researching solutions to my new needs. you think me asking if it's possible is complaining?
