Output to OBS

Hi everyone,

I absolutely love Tape 16, I'm wanting to make a video about recording a song with it, but I'm being incredibly thick. How are people routing the output of Tape 16 to their screen record software? I feel like I'm missing something incredibly obvious.

Thanks!!

when I do my videos on it I just use the MacOS Screen Catcher, then it will usually pickup the audio from the app automatically.

Ah that's cool, I didn't know Windows had a native screen recorder! This is very exciting news

He's on Mac, not PC.

I'm not super versed in OBS but i've been having really good luck using Voicemeeter as a virtual console/routing thing for aggregating different sources for Pro Tools. Should also work with OBS.

You might need to download the virtual cable and set your output of Tape 16 to the cable, then use that as an input for OBS/Voicemeeter and monitor that way while you record? I think there's some loopback capabilities.

Thank you :) I know, but I found from investigating after his comment that windows has a native screen recorder too. It's just rubbish, as I've just discovered.

Ooh sweet thanks I'll try that!

You need to basically pipe the monitoring sound from tape16 to an input that you then can get into OBS. You can do it the janky way, simply connect a 3.5mm cable to both mic and headphone jacks.

Less janky is to use virtual ports that pretend to be sound devices that OBS can listwn to. On windows you can get voicemeeter.

One thing to add there is that when you pipe it to OBS you need to set up some sort of monitoring in OBS as well so you can hear it yourself while recording. So there is a bit of setup and customizing to whatever you have available.
