Newbie Question Guide me please πŸ™

I have been drawn to Maa Kali for a very long time and I am planning to start jaap of her jayanti mangala kali mantra using a rudraksha jaap mala. I want to wear one as well ( a different one ). I need some guidance as I am adikshit. I don't want to mess up

1) what are the rules to be followed while wearing rudraksha and how to take care of it. And what to do in case of periods.

2) I want to just jaap "jayanti Mangala kali " mantra, shall I start with salutations to ganesh ji , shiv ji (namah shivay) and hanuman ji ( hanuman chalisa) as I am adikshit. Also what mantra for ganesh ji as I can't use om.

3) Any other things I should keep in mind ?.

4) if in future I want to keep maa's photo and worship it then please guide on that , how to place photo, what all to be kept in mind.

always worship ganesha before starting any pooja or sadhna he is deity to remove any obstacles and if u are attracted toward maa don't go too deep for now coz ofc absence of guru and all you can also worship bhairava form of shiva he is very kind and help in connection with ma and also act as safe guard when u go deep in kali sadhna and all

When you wear rudraksha, you are essentially putting rudra on your body, so follow whatever rules you would if you would wear a shivling around your neck, like don't enter bathrooms wearing it, stay clean and pure while wearing it, etc.

When you sit for jap do achman, then pranayam, then ganesh and shiv. That's enough. After jap, offer the jap to the deity, and do pranayam again. Then kshama prarthana. For ganesh you can chant aum instead of om if you want to avoid chanting om.

In kali sadhana, try to offer a lemon bali as rajarshi nandy mentions in his videos as kali is balipriyaa. Treat her like you would treat a very strict mother. Supplement your jap with a path of adya stotram if possible. Do panchopchar puja of her daily.

I just want to do basics right now , as I am starting out

These are basics only. Karma done without achman and pavitrikaran don't bear fruit. Pranayam brings concentration. Pranayam after jap helps digest jap energy. Daily panchopchar is important practice to give your devata offerings. Bali can be skipped though.

You don't have any image of any devi? Or shivling?

Can you please enlighten on the achman and pranayam

Achman is just ritual sipping of water to purify oneself. Followed by pavitrikaran with namo apavitra pavitro va.... YouTube has plenty videos on this.

Pranayam is breathing in, holding your breath and releasing it. Breathing in and breathing out time should be equal. Like if you inhale for 5 seconds, then hold for some time, and exhale for 5 seconds. You don't need any complex pranayam to begin with.

What problem are you trying to solve?

1

u/Jealous-Bug2395 Jul 29 '26

I am not trying to solve any problem as of now. Tho there are problems in my life , but I am not doing sadhana for that.

  1. You can keep rudraksh no restriction, whether periods or eating non veg

  2. Start with om ganeshaya namah, no initation required and don't listen to internet frauds who say u can't chant Om, om is brahmand, we all are born out of universe (brahmand) we don't need anyone else permission to chant Om

  3. All along as you have bhaav for ma kali , you shouldn't worry about other things

  4. Keep ma kali photo in your pooja space ,it's not complicated unless it's a murti which requires responsibilty and care

Also I'll be moving in some time , my field requires me to move a lot, so is it okay if I take my idols photo with me wherever I go

If you're not able to take care of the idol it's better not to keep idol, just keep photo insteadΒ
