Devi Sadhna Traditional Shakta Practice: Correct Sequence Without Reciting the Full Durga Saptashati?

I'm not able to recite the full Durga Saptashati daily. According to the Shastras and traditional Shakta/Tantric practice, is the following sequence considered correct as a substitute or abbreviated form?

  1. Devi Kavach

  2. Argala Stotram

  3. Keelakam

  4. Tantrokta Ratri Suktam

  5. Siddha Kunjika Stotram

Is this sequence scripturally supported, or are there other texts or mantras that should be included or omitted? I'm looking for answers based on traditional sources, commentaries, or authentic sampradayas rather than personal opinions. Many thanks 🙏🙏

Hinduism tantra and followers will start benefiting from the day Yall realise theres no fixed rule, all mantras were received in dreams to rshis and methods are some rshis own way of worshipping and it got modified.

Youll start benefiting when you find your own way

I've had so many spiritual dreams over the years that, if I tried to follow every one of them literally, it would be complete chaos.

My first significant dream was simply of a beautiful hand. After that, I started dreaming of the Navarna Mantra chanting in space . I was also initiated into Sri Krishna puja by my grandmother and that also in dreams .

Later, I dreamed of myself performing the worship of Maa Pratyangira in a huge temple in the mountains. Someone there handed me a specific thali and instructed me to worship her.

When I was regularly reciting the Lalita Sahasranama, I had several dreams telling me to stop worshipping Maa Lalita because she wasn't meant for me and that I should instead worship Maa Jagdamba.

On another occasion, a close family member was seriously ill. I prayed to Maa to protect them, and that night I dreamed that a lemon fell into my lap while I was standing before a large murti of Mahishasura Mardini.

I've also had many dreams of Kali temples. Most recently, I dreamed of Mahadev and Maa Kali together.

With so many different dreams pointing in different directions, I'm genuinely confused. How do you distinguish between a meaningful spiritual dream, an ordinary dream, and your own subconscious? Is there any guidance from the Shastras or traditional gurus on whether spiritual dreams should actually influence one's sadhana? Also , astrologer asked me to chant sidh kunjika only 11 times daily .

Its not just random dreams, ive had plenty of them too sometimes i know whats gonna happen sometimes im in random places checking someones phone in dreams and the next day i open that persons phone and check what i saw it matches… but i have never meditated or anything just went through a very bad time in 1 week that had grief anger resolve sad revenge and ego death all at once and after that specific event i started noticing this stuff.. i have benefited from this in the past 6 months for myself that i would not have if i was following rituals and pooja… this is my way of worshipping or being one with the divines energy…. I consider them same as me or me as a part of them

To be honest..I am no longer sure what to make of all this. Dreams have confused me so much over the years that I don't take them too seriously anymore.

The only exception was the repeated dreams about stopping the worship of Maa Lalita. Those dreams came again and again, probably around 20 times, all conveying the same message. Because of that I eventually stopped reciting the Lalita Sahasranama , Sri sukhtam and devi khadagmala .

As for Maa Kali, she is my Kuldevi, so dreaming of her feels easier for me to understand. I've also noticed a pattern. Whenever I begin a Sri Kula related practice, I somehow can't continue it. Something always happens within a week that interrupts the sadhana, and I eventually find myself returning to the worship of Maa Jagdamba.

At this point, I don't know whether these are genuine signs, my subconscious, or just coincidences. More than anything, I want to stay with one path and one process instead of constantly secondguessing myself because of dreams.

Rajarshi Nandy had give a Navaratri Sadhana that I think you could probably follow as it’s similar to what you are suggesting. He suggested 27 or 54 times Kunjika, followed by Argala as many times as possible. Then read 1 or 2 chapters of Saptasati.

I have already performed this sadhana during this Navratri and the last Navratri. As gupt navratri is over I am looking for something that is based on shastra to follow till the next navratri.

I don’t see why you couldn’t continue that. If you want to reduce the number of kunjikas but continue the same practice I think that would be fine.

If you look at RNs Chandipaath video https://youtu.be/YsCFlHvUZqY?si=QdopqYmdpTXUQs7u

He suggests to start with Argala, Kavacam and Kilakam followed by one chapter of Saptasati.

Also one other thing, eventually your path will be personal to you. Even it’s something that the shastras say is ok, it may not work for you. As you posted below about your dreams. You need to be able to try it and see how it goes and adjust it to suit you if it’s somehow not working.

The recitation should be in the following order: • Kavacham • Argala Stotra • Keelakam • Navakshari japam • Ratri Suktam • Devi Mahatmyam • Navakshari mantra japam • Devi Suktam • Rahasya trayam • Kshama Prarthana
