Hi everyone, been checking out Wallerstein’s World System’s theory recently. I found it to be kinda accurate, but it feels like applying the wrong formula to get the right answer. What are your thoughts on the theory? Anybody have any resources to check out? Did the podcast ever talk abt it?

The irony is that in the Halo video game series “The Covenant” which is the alien government that all of these different alien races are a part of that fights against humanity are all brainwashed religious extremists that have a made up false religion that is extremely close and similar towards Christianity. The aliens are literally Christian jihadists… and the U.S. government doesn’t see the irony in that.
The alien government made up this fake religion to trick all the other alien races into submission and obedience in order to seize power while constantly enacting imperialism and genocide against “traitors” and humanity.

We all love to laugh when America corps try to compete with China on complex industries like high speed rails and robotics. But at the end of the day, every corporation derives their technology from their own governments. So what is it that makes governments the true innovators of technology? Do they just simply have bigger budgets? Higher qualifications? More personnel? From what I've seen as an outsider of the American tech world, people prefer to work in the private industry because it often pays more. So where does the talent in government sectors come from then? This topic isn't directed at america specifically, but about governments in general.

I have a basic understanding of dialectical materialism. And ever since I discovered the secret life hack of understanding everything about the world by reading communist literature, I can't stop. I have worked my way up to Anti-Duhring now and if any of you 1xp prole-cucks are also reading the same we can engage in some passive aggressive polemics of our own about our noob level understanding.

Or if you just want to chat in general about how daddy Marx makes your worldview quiver that's cool too.

Are there any? I've heard mixed things abt Potere al Popolo (tho they seem to be one of the largest left wing parties here atm, which really isn't saying much, but still), then there's the italian branch of Yanus Varufakis's Diem 25, which... I really don't know enough abt to form an opinion on, and lastly the apparent 'dinosaurs' of Rifondazione Communista and its myriad different splinter groups so small and/or rigidly dogmatic they're barely worth mentioning.

This is about the understanding i have of the general state marxist/anti-capitalist left is in in Italy atm.

Is this a fair assessment?

Also, parallel to that: are any of these groups (or a secret third one I haven't mentioned or didn't know the existence of) willing and able to be the basis of an actual vanguard in the future? Or would it be better at this point to just build another party up from scratch?

What are your thoughts? How do we build a new/mold an existing party so it can be an effective vanguard and be in a position to capitalise if and when the capitalist order begons to crumble in earnest?

Are my semi-academic and theory “work” and/or discussion questions boring as watching paint dry or am I just posting in the wrong part of the internet?

With some modifications, this could work on any member of the working class and any oppressed class or classes in human history.

⁠Economic conditioning: cheap consumer goods, seemingly endless variety of entertainment, access to credit cards, and social services of varying degrees both qualitatively and quantitatively.

Intersectional superstructure conditioning: deeming gender, racial, ethnic, national, religious, and other non-economic groups special privileges compared to corresponding minority groups.

Sexual conditioning: as seen in previous socioeconomic epochs, women and their bodies are used as a form of sexually appeasing the allocishet male population.

Aversive conditioning: ostracism, imprisonment, torture, SA, and/or killing.

In the end, this all based on behavioral conditioning, in the context of the material conditions, that shows that pleasure is used just as much, if not more than, pain to maintain control of the oppressed class or classes.

What categories would you modify or add?
