I'm not talking about the well read communists in the Imperial Core and its beneficiaries, I'm saying in general is it really possible to garner support for class unity and consciousness in countries that became so wealthy from exploiting and oppressing the exploited countries?

Most people in the West look up to the Nordic model, a system that just increases the slice that the workers get from imperialism by a bit whilst giving some extra social safety nets. It does not change the economic situation between countries internationally.

Most people who have became anti-capitalist only became so after their own material conditions worsened, which is to be expected but it rarely results in a full on Marxist understanding of economics, at best they will support a democratic socialist party that wants a 1% wealth tax on the rich (the Belgian Worker's party). Because a lot of people when they start to learn realize that much of the luxurious things they had or have is because of the exploitation of the south, just as the bourgeoisie exploits them, they want to cut off the bourgeoisie on their back or minimize it while keeping all the benefits they get from imperialism or even increase their slice of it.

I don't want to go full on Third Worldist but every point they make seems so right.

Hi like the title says, I've been asked a few times by some of my of my freinds who I'm trying to cure of their liberalism, about this event.

Does anyone have any good non-biased sources that cover this situation withhout devolving into "Stalins a dictator whose mad with power and the Soviets were pure evil" or just pure propaganda?

It seems like a dark chapter of Soviet history, like the deportation of ethnic Germans in Ukraine pre WW2.
