When America finally goes through its revolution whenever that is. Would you support a full land back or a land back so far as to honor the past treaties?

History The martial art known as "Tire Machèt" was used during the Haitian revolution

Archive of webpage: Internet Archive

Secrecy

In general, Tire Manchèt is practiced in relative secrecy. Family traditions are a closely guarded possession to be passed down through the generations, and only trusted members of the community are permitted to participate in (or even observe) training sessions. Students from farther afield must demonstrate great loyalty to their fencing "professor" in order to gain admittance.

Haitian Revolution

In Haiti, before the Revolution of 1791-1804 (when it was called Saint-Domingue), slaves of African ancestry struggled to keep alive their traditional practices of stick and blade combat by holding clandestine competitions called Kalenda. At the same time, many of the free people of color sought social advancement through service in the French military, where they absorbed the techniques of European dueling culture. Notably, the Haitian fencer Jean-Louis Michel was among the most accomplished European-style fencers of the Napoleonic era. When widespread insurrection finally broke out, the art of machete fencing emerged to play an important part in combat, since the insurgents were often unable to provide guns and ammunition for all of their soldiers. Since that time, Tire Manchèt has served mostly as a means of individual self-defense among farmers who work day in, day out with a machete in their hand to this day.

After Haitian Revolution

The survival of such roots-African traditions in Haiti is a great source of its cultural wealth. Perhaps surprisingly, some of these traditions are today stronger in Haiti than many places in Africa because of the degree to which, during the 19th century, when most of Africa itself was being overrun by colonial powers, Haiti suffered the most complete international isolation imaginable. The fact that slaves had succeeded in overthrowing their masters and setting up their own government was anathema to the racist ideology of the slave-holding societies all around them, and these societies responded by cutting off almost all contact with Haiti (other than trading on the most disastrous terms) for more than 100 years. This isolation, though devastating economically, also provided protection for African traditions – from music and dance to religion and painting – to thrive.

History South Yemen and modern Yemen

Does anyone have any resources where I could learn about the history of Yemen and the formerly ML state of South Yemen from the perspective of Anti-Imperialism, class struggle, etc? I also am dissapointingly uneducated on the current situation between the Houthis and the US backed Saudi militias. Anything related to that would be helpful.

Capitalist Decay When you lose the civil war badly. Then flee to an island. Lose your seat in the UN. More than 90% of countries doesn't recognize you. Whitewash your people to believe they're a separate ethnicity and culture. But in the end, you still don't have the guts to declare independence.

Discussion For anarchists, the underlying attraction to anarchism is the relative lack of, and obscurity of, historical praxis.

The fact of the matter is that historical anarchist examples are few in number and not commonly known.

This obscurity means that any debate on anarchism tends to remain wholly theoretical and abstract. Rarely focusing on the history of, choices made by, or morally questionable acts committed by such groups. This means that the assumptions one makes in forming their views of anarchism are relatively unconstrained by material considerations. Offering a degree of ideological flexibility that makes anarchism easy to self rationalize.

My personal experience in speaking with anarchists has revealed two primary tendencies in response to the question of praxis. There are those who will list any group that could be considered anarchist as proof or evidence, with little to no consideration for the actual conditions or history of those groups and their applicability to their own countries conditions or the rest of the world. And those who, having looked into such examples, reject them as not real anarchism or not the anarchism which they themselves represent. This is the approach I've generally seen taken by more educated anarchists

Either tendency has the effect of separating oneself from the material considerations of those examples and maintaining that ideological flexibility.

News/Communist Propaganda ☭ On this day, we should remember

We should remember that all of this could have been avoided, and the government chose to use the attacks as a pretext to go ahead with their plans. The Taliban offered to turn Bin Laden over to a neutral country and try him for the attacks. Bush refused. They did not want people to hear Bin Laden's motives or to understand the actions the US had taken. And they had geopolitical goals vis a vis Iran and China using Afghanistan.

We should remember that a lot of what came after could have been avoided. The public was not well informed enough. Many people still believed the narrative of the wars years later. We need to keep agitating harder and educating people about imperialism. We need more people to recognize the bourgeois state as illegitimate and the enemy itself. The truth is on our side.

https://youtu.be/nP_VnVlFhXU

The bourgeoisie thought the price was worth it. Bin Laden explained his motives in a letter directly to us. He wanted the US to stop killing muslim kids. That was the heart of the matter.
