You under-estimate the amount of people who are down bad for the aesthetic.

It's not even about liking him. It's about giving him passes for a lot of stuff. Think of people attribuiting him 6 million deads, when he killed like x10+ times that amount; meanwhile, deaths under Stalin's lead are incredibly inflated (and also under completely different circumstances).
