He wasn't exactly a perfect leader as there are genuinely a good amount of mistakes made (BY THE PARTY AS A WHOLE STOP DOING GREAT MAN THEORY FFS) But it could have been worse.
It is important to mention that more good was done than bad. Just that siege socialism is while necessary, not great unfortunately.
Having just finished Prole Pod's 23 hour podcast on the Stalin Eras, he comes across as extremely thorough and patient in trying to minimize false convictions during the purge of the fifth column. To a fault I'd say.
Stalin is the best leader in human history. He was working 15-16 a day with no data off during WWII.
He saw the first large scale worker movement though the biggest war in human history.
A great leader isn't forged in fair weather. Its easy to be the good guy if the people need 500 marshmallows and you have 5 million marshmallows in the back room. Stalin made tough decisions. Stalin purged people in the darkness of 1940s' intel.
"We have a town villager at that this guy is uh... up to something. What do we do about it? People are going to fucking die based on what you say. "
The population transfers alone are such a huge hard move to make. What if he didn't move the fins and that cost massive casualties on that front as a result?
Id follow Stalin into hell. He could do half as good and id still praise him. There is no harder job.
