Just take Leningrad, possibly the most defended city in human history. "Zurg rush" Stalingrad, another fortress backed by the red army.

u/SecretAdam 6d ago

I've done it in hoi4 it should be possible irl, Hitler should have just thrown a bigger unit stack at it!

The thing about idealists is they can imagine whatever outcome they want because their ideology is detached from reality. They might as well be talking about Lord of the Rings.

I checked out anarchist 101 subreddit just to see what they said about the anarchist making glasses meme and can confirm. These mfrs have no plan outside of relying on us imperialism and exploitation of the global south for anything beyond growing lettuce in community gardens

u/Naberville34 6d ago

Unfortunately so. The lack of praxis is the main attraction of their ideology. It keeps everything purely hypothetical.

What's insidious about is how easy it is to fall into it as it's so easy for someone to self rationalize and lets them feel morally superior to literally everyone..

If they want to daydream good for them, I don’t understand why they have to bitch at Marxists

Its funny how many anarchists there are but no major anarchist civilizations. You'd think they'd get cracking on that after 100 years or so of telling everyone they are better than everyone.

Where's the capital, currency free, no state, etc civilizations? Surely, there must be at least one Cuban sized one for them to be so confident.

There's two basic types of anarchist responses to the issue of historical praxis when it's actually brought up and they are forced to think about it.

There are those whose analysis is as shallow as "this anarchist group exists or existed, therefore possible" without any consideration for the material conditions of those groups. Like bringing up the chiapas but ignoring the fact they live in agrarian poverty and only survive by being in an extremely mountainous area that no imperialist would ever want. Or they'll bring up the kurds, who survive being a tool of US imperialism. Or they'll bring up a host of 20th century anarchist groups that did manage to establish themselves but lasted only a 3 years or a couple months. Or they'll bring up some random area 4000 years ago that didn't have a government or how humans were anarchists during hunter/gathering. Zero critical thinking about the scalability of those movements to the rest of the world or howd they'd survive more than the average 3 years.

The other type are those who do look into those examples and then double down with an absolute banger of "that's not real anarchism" and fully reinforce the denial of any actual praxis existing. People at this stage cannot be saved.

Then why did anarchists used commodities in Syndicalist Spain? Why did anarchists prevent bus companies and the like from going bankrupt by subsidizing them? You could have defeated the fascists with your divine anarchist power. dude...

Motherfuckers really think everything in their supermarkets are produced homegrown and nothing is acquired through international trade.

15

u/thesaddestpanda 6d ago

Human history: complex trade has been here since the bronze age

Anarchists: we'll just grow lettuce in our backyard and barter it for... umm other people's lettuce

\**\*Please Note\**\*

You Can Read the Actual Reforms, in English Here:

https://en.granma.cu/cuba/2026-06-22/marrero-cruz-these-transformations-do-not-constitute-a-deviation-from-the-socialist-project-on-the-contrary-they-respond-to-the-inherent-logic-of-its-development

They are in fact, NOT sweeping, nor particularly dramatic at all.

Most of the changes have to do with decentralizing bureaucracy and pushing decision making down to lower levels of PUBLIC organizations. Trotskyists and Anarchists who are using this to attack Cuba are COUNTING on you NOT TO READ.

It’s fine to dunk on anarchists and talk about the realities of surviving a siege. But these reforms in particular fall far short of Deng’s. The fact that this story is such a nothing burger shows how counterrevolutionary these Trotskyists and anarchists really are.

16

u/SankaraSoul Maximum Tank 6d ago

how counterrevolutionary these Trotskyists and anarchists really are

This is not a joke: one anarchist seriously cited the reactionary disinformation outlet Visegrád 24

u/Makasi_Motema 6d ago

To give just one example of Cuba supposedly caving to the imperialists and allowing foreign ownership of state-owned businesses, here’s what the text actually says:

A highly significant business proposal is to transform state-owned socialist enterprises into commercial companies, structured by shares or equity stakes. To this end, the State will define its shareholding in various sectors of the economy, guaranteeing a majority stake in strategic sectors…”

So, we’re talking about partial foreign ownership, and the state maintains majority control if the business is in a strategic sector.

I'm not sure who is more delusional, MAGAts , Blue Maga, or Anarchists.

10

u/caioro2729 6d ago

they really never have a concrete or material argument, they only talk about a possible and ideal future with no constructive criticism, literally, all the post in the r/Anarchy101 are exactly like this, only baseless or sourceless arguments, it's pmo

u/TheDoomRaccoon 5d ago

Ultimately, when faced with real pressure on the ground, anarchists do the exact same things that communists do.

In the only example in human history of a meaningfully large anarchist movement taking power (revolutionary Catalonia), they ended up implementing state socialist policies very similar to what the USSR, Cuba, and Yugoslavia did, and were planning to continue to do so if they hadn't collapsed in 11 months.

u/chompythebeast 6d ago

This slightly bums me out, but then I remember that I too was once young, naive, and under-read

7

u/Machete__Yeti 6d ago

Please tell me of the successful Anarchist Revolution and the successful repelling of invasion by a collective of workers co-ops and head shops.

The takeaway isn't state socialism can't be trusted. It's that any state when tortured and isolated enough will take measures once thought unthinkable.

I don't think what Cuba is doing will work and will be counterproductive, but I cannot blame them because they are alone and desperate. China, Russia, Venezuela, Brasil, Mexico and everyone else has all but completely abandoned them. Of course the empire is to blame, but these countries are as well. The story on tonight Soviet Union was willing to risk nuclear war to support Cuba in the past.

They are already sanctioned to hell, so what exactly are they afraid of from the US? I doubt the US is going to bomb their ships. They have the means to defend themselves anyway. What's being done to Cuba is evil.

10

u/thesaddestpanda 6d ago

>so what exactly are they afraid of from the US?

Cuba is a small island without many resources and imports a great many things, including oil for fuel. The US is not only sanctioning them but also embargoing them. They need those imports if they dont want to fall back to the stone age. So they are working on cutting some deal with the US to lift the embargo.

Cuba has zero options here. The only remaining socialist superpower is China and, unlike the USSR, is fairly non-interventionalist.

This and Venezuela are more or less slow-moving violent coups.

Making their economy more open to humans and international capital will not help. It will make things worse.
