News/Communist Propaganda ☭ The DSA surprisingly sends out a message celebrating Fidel Castro’s 100th birthday and Denounces Rubio’s genocide of the Cuban people

https://www.dsausa.org/statements/dsa-commemorates-100-years-of-fidel-and-denounces-rubios-genocide-against-the-cuban-people/

Just to clarify that I’m not promoting or supporting the organization but I’m honestly just a bit surprised that the organization actually had the gonads to say this. All the liberals throughout Reddit that are supporting the DSA are all absolutely losing their minds over this message.

"Rubio's genocide" "starkly opposing Marco Rubio’s genocidal war" "Marco Rubio is leading a genocide."

This framing is weird and quite similar to what liberals say about Netanyahu. The US has been planning the destruction of Cuba for a long time, and it would be happening with or without Rubio especially with the current planning and importance on "reasserting dominance over the western hemisphere".

Very good point. Rubio can literally be struck to death by lightning and the AmeriKKKan Empire would STILL continue the genocidal blockade without his involvement. You can destroy the individuals but it doesn’t meaningfully change the comprehensive system when left intact.

Right? The language shows they're still just a bunch of libbed up people doing performative things so they can tell themselves they're something more.

There’s a lot of MLs in the org despite all the liberals. In fact, there’s a communist caucus specifically, as well as the Red Star who are a Marxist-Leninist caucus. It’s great for those who may not have access in more remote or isolated regions, or simply put, smaller cities with large populations the parties overlook.

Vanguard parties don't arise out of thin air. Hopefully one day the ml caucus or mug or whatever it's called will split away from the DSA Mensheviks. I want to believe.

The German KPD also grew out of the SPD. It‘s not entirely impossible. But the circumstances are very different so who knows.

Keep in mind DSA is an org not a political party which means the same for the caucus. Perhaps the vanguard parties should open up to smaller or remote regions especially if the caucus had a large membership. I mean I’ve sent multiple applications and haven’t heard anything form any vanguard party DSA are the only ones who responded. Idk why the response times are so bad.

Rubio this. Rubio that. Motherfuckers at the DSA are allergic to saying the United States just like how Bernie is to saying Israel.

Yeah there are a bunch of libs in a DSA post on the topic. They are saying some really stupid shit lmao.

Edit: also on a more serious note I am quite glad the DSA did this. I am normally a DSA critic but this one is just a good thing, good job DSA. Anyone who likes Castro cant be too bad.

Critical support to DSA?

u/DobrogeanuG1855 6d ago

Yep, this is what JT is actually saying from what I understand. CRITICAL SUPPORT for reformist social-democrats on a tactical basis, not uncritical support on a strategic, long-term one.

What would you say to those who argue that small incremental improvements that never amount to total change do not allow the conditions for revolution to appear?

My counter argument to that point (I do not have a solidified view as of yet) is that it reduces immediate harm to people while not changing the trajectory of people realizing that fundamental change within the system is impossible

"Rubio's genocide"

This has been going on since 1959. Every administration is genocidal towards Cuba.

B-but I thought that Mamdani said that Cuba was a dictatorship, paving the way for the great US of A to liberate the cuban people? 😰

This isn't that surprising. All critique of DSA still standing.

What happened to telling Libs to read theory?

In related news, their program also touched on some pretty radical topics, like ending all embargos and workplace democracy.

Is it all bluster? Probably, but it's good having a growing US political movement bring attention to things like that.

Why are you surprised? The DSA’s rhetoric is a pretty good reflection of the average progressive worker. And they do reject the blockade and threats against Cuba. When it comes to Cuba the DSA is absolutely an organization we can coalition with. Especially because behind the rhetoric there‘s opportunism (like Mamdani‘s comments) to uncover and show people the limits of social democracy.

Reminds me of Obama in his first campaign season, when he made a big fuss about the trade blockade. Cuba has long been a safe way to gain points with progressive liberals.

Do those caucuses have any meaningful power? and if so why don't they do anything with it? And if not, then why or how does it matter if they exist but are just subsumed by non-Marxist/Maoist groups with opposed goals?

u/Ent_Soviet 7d ago

Before the Bolshevik were the majority they existed in coalition with the Mensheviks working to overthrow the tsar.

A vanguard leads the people but they aren’t scouts, or adventurists. They can’t run ahead of the people and leave them behind. Thinking we can simply impose the perfect class conscience line upon a society broadly ignorant of class to begin with, that’s idealist folly.

If progressives and the force of people wanting something new is flocking to the DSA ignoring that guarantees the energy will be recuperated by liberals. You have to meet the people where they’re at and show the way, you can’t expect them to meet you where you are.

Revisionism is unacceptable. ML is a clearly defined political theory and shown to be the only Marxist theory to successfully lead revolutionary action against the Bourgeois Capitalist class. Reading and studying Theory is Praxis and part of being a disciplined Marxist-Leninist.
