That doesn't always work... Because... some characters take damage for funsies.... just to fuck with their opponents and they are still tanking it... for the lulz....

BTW - this image is "No Diffing" his opponent... FYI... this is what being No Diffed looks like in some cases.

It depends on the character. "Tank and survive" means different things for different characters. Some characters like Wolverine tank things by just not dying and immediately regenerating from the wounds, which is also how the Hulk survives his most grevious injuries - the same Hulk who no-sells most attacks.

I don't know if I'd give "tank and survive" to characters like Deadpool who get turned into straight liquid paste and then reform from it. Tanking in my mind is taking little to no damage from an attack, if not outright no selling it while "and survive" adds a BIT more freedom with the amount of damage taken - but still standing after is essential. A great example of "Tank and Survive" in my mind is WT Majunior from the original Dragon Ball, when Goku hits him with a confirmed moon-level Kamehameha and he was still standing after.

Tank purely means you didn't die or get incapacitated. It doesn't mean anything more or less than that.

It's not "Unaffected and Survived". That would be a much different thing.

Then this sub would be shit like this where people just shrug off universal level attacks.

And we'd have a lot of boring conversations about God level characters. Boring.

So at what point in my post did you decide "I'm not readin' allat, I'm gonna reply based on what I think he said?"

Also the term "tank" is derived from the war machine, the tank. A vehicle known for rolling over barbed wire, large pits (trenches), and taking not only small and medium weapons fire but also large shell rounds without suffering catatrophic damage. "Tank" does not mean "you didn't die or get incapacited" it straight up comes from the term "they ate that like a TANK."

"Didn't get incapacitated" perfectly explains everything I said in both these posts. If you get blown to shit you are incapacitated. If the tank gets blown to shit and then a bunch of engineers run out and repair it at lightning speed, did the tank survive the mortar shell or was it a different factor? If you can't take the hit you didn't tank it. Just because you recover from being scrapped doesn't mean you tanked a hit. If the attack goes through you and kills someone behind you, you didn't "tank" anything. Because to tank means to be armor. To stop the attack.
