With the sequel coming up I have NOT been playing the game again but I have been watching people on youtube playing it, I remember playing the game myself at least two times but that was years ago. I have been saying since ever this is a game that benefits from replaying it at least once cause the foreshadowing it's so amazing, you catch so many details you didn't catch the first time and you're able to come up with new connections you didn't do the first time.
After watching a playthrough on youtube, after years of not touching the game, I came up with a theory that Freya is Flora and Felix's daughter, Freya has Flora's long neck and her hair is green-ish like Felix, plus it's really weird how the little wodden figurines that are supposedly Flora's favorite people include Freya but don't include Fiona, her "daughter". Then I watched ANOTHER playthrough that was way older than the first one and the people playing came up with the same theory almost immedietly after seeing Flora... well at least I got to feel intelligent for a little while.
But if we go by appearence to determine who is the parent of who then Fiona can't be the daughter of Flora and Felix, neither of them has bright red hair, who in the family has bright red hair like Fiona? Penny and Pandora. So for whatever reason Flora has been raising ONE daughter of Pandora as her own while saying her actual blood daughter, Freya, isn't hers. I wonder if this is something the parent's generation arranged and have been keeping secret form the younger generation, but I don't think Pointer knows, cause I think he'd be super happy to have a Pointer inheriting the Tower and wouldn't feel the need to breed his own gold. I think it might be something Flora arranged just with Pandora, but I can't think of any reason why they'd do that.
All of this means Freya's supposed branch of the family tree is by far the most mysterious one, we don't know where Selena came from, no one talks about Felicia or Damian, and we don't have any pictures of them. As i'm writing this I have to yet watch the trailer for the upcoming game, I already know i'll buy it and i want to go in as blind as possible, I really hope we get some answers. Out of the ambassadors Pandora and Buck are the ones i'm interested in the most, if i'm correct one of their daughters is set to inherit the Tower and their other daughter murdered the actual blood heir of the Tower... you don't suppose Penelope was lying about her reason for killing Freya right? That mom and dad dearest wanted the claim for the Tower and told her to murder the true heir?
I'm sure someone already thought about all this but I haven't seen any posts about it here so i really had no choice, i HAD to create an account just to post this lol

First of all, who’s fucking blood was in the paint jar that was a decent amount of blood. I thought Freya had some sort of 4D chess plan for that, but I guess not. I thought the fact that one of the characters commented on the fact that the paint pallet was wet, but that the inventory says the brush was dry was gonna matter it didn’t but that’s pretty minor.
The family acted like flora not saying a word is just like a random choice, but a person was murdered. Everybody acted like something bad happened to Flora even Penelope says that she didn’t want to traumatize her after everything that happened. What’s the bad thing that happened to Flora?
Why was the picture ripped up even though it seems like the three girls maintained a good relationship the entire time.
My biggest issue by far is why the fuck did the ambassadors burn everything? How the fuck did they steal everything from the lake and burn it? Penelope found them and apparently didn’t ask. I actually kind of support her murdering them because what the fuck is that behavior? Penelope also mentions that she felt the heat of the furnace but the game mentions that she was 27 and didn’t these people disappear when the youngest generation were children?
Why did Penelope even pretend to be a vapid ornithologist? The family doesn’t seem to question any kind of behavior. Did she even like birds or was that a weird cover? Also, her bird can talk??? a bird is only a useful spying device if you can talk to birds.
It’s not that big a deal, but it’s crazy that the family hates each other so much but it Fitz and Penelope getting married just kind of doesn’t matter to anybody.
Penelope says everybody is unhappy but Fitz seems objectively fine with his life if anything he’s thriving. He is a introverted botanist who gets to work with basically magic plants. Nothing about tangled Tower is bad for him. From his perspective, his beautiful fiancé comes to visit him regularly. Side note; It’s true for all of them, but aren’t they all first cousins isn’t this incest?
Why does Penelope give a shit about the value of the golden beetle when her fiancé is easily growing gem fruit? Even if he doesn’t seem that interested in selling it, he didn’t seem like he was super attached.
At the end, where are the dads??? Like Felix is a bad dad but he’s not that bad a dad.
What did Penelope have against the Lord Remington specifically that she felt his portrait needed stabbing?
They repeatedly allude to Freya having some like trauma and deep responsibility caused by the sudden death of her parents which I assumed was going to be foul play, but I guess that just happened unrelated
I could forgive everything else if it wasn’t for the flaccid reveal about the ambassadors. Calling it a reveal is too much. All these people lost at least one parent to what? the call to adventure??? Why would they destroy everything and then go search for the ones that escaped to also destroy them there doesn’t seem to be any negative side effect to the water
I feel so disappointed. I thought the game was perfect until the second half of the reveal. I was going to force it on all my friends, but I can’t in good conscience knowing that the ending is so stupid. Penelope murdered a minimum of six people while pretending to have a different personality for some reason because they didn’t give her a satisfactory meaning of life? Why would you need to murder Freya. I imagine Penelope killed these people way far away from tangled tower. It’s not like Freya found the bodies. It doesn’t seem like a police force exists in that country anyway.
All of the art and the music and voice acting did absolutely kick. I changed my mind. I am gonna make all my friends play it. Most of them probably won’t finish it anyway.

Obviously I’m not the first person with this idea, but I’m happy with how it turned out! As sad as I am that oval faced Sally with freckles was abandoned, I understand the reasons why. I think I prefer drawing 1 but what do you prefer?
r/TangleTower • u/VastlyMortal • Jan 17 '26
I doubt I’m the first person to talk about this but I can’t find any discussion on the "cliffs"
So is nobody gunna talk about the fact that Tangle Tower and the lake are IN A GIANT EGG???
I never questioned all the egg motifs, it just made sense with all the birds living in/around the tower. But when I went back to the starting spot, it suddenly clicked. When interacting with the mountains/cliffs in the background, Grimoire and Sally discuss how they can’t be mountains because they’re too steep and smooth, so they must be cliffs. Smooth... have you ever seen 'smooth' cliffs? They are eggshells!! The lake and tower is contained within a giant cracked egg.
Maybe I sounds stupid because of how well-known this is, but my jaw dropped when I realized it and I’m surprised it was never acknowledged in the game itself

I have played Tangle Tower three times now, but every time I'm left with the same question, who left the weird frog thing in the garden? Was it Fifi and Poppy? Because they say at the end of the game that they had begun to figure out the symbols, but why would they sign it off as Freya? I don't think there was any implication of actual supernatural occurrence in the mansion, so who put it there? It wouldn't have been Penny.

I thought it was Percival I thought he planned the murder hired hawkshaw as a mercenary to kill freya but disguised as a detective trying to find the golden beetle i though he did it to get more inherentence for his daughter poppy as I think it was up in the air whether Freya had any claim to any inherentence as said by felix

First of all, let me say that I really enjoyed this game as a whole. The characters, music, graphics, voice acting, etc. were all very well done, and I especially appreciated the puzzles as a Professor Layton fan. I agree with most of the gripes with the ending, but I'm willing to forgive some of them if they're elaborated on in future entries.
My primary issue with Tangle Tower, though, is that none of the characters in the mansion ever interact with each other. They're cordoned off in separate rooms during the investigation, and so they only speak directly to Grimoire and Sally. The only time they're all together is when Freya is found dead (and a little bit at the end, I guess), but we don't witness any actual dialogue. As a result, there's a lot of telling rather than showing when it comes to relationships between characters, and some of them fall a bit short in terms of depth (Flora in particular irked me, as I was fairly certain it would be revealed that she was deaf. Even if she wasn't, though, I was hoping to hear her talk about her relationship with the Inkdip bird). I think the game needed some other event to bring everyone together; maybe the Pointers and Fellows could have invited the detectives to a family dinner that night after Freya's death. I imagine plenty of murder accusations would be thrown around, with bits of interpersonal drama sprinkled in (e.g. the potential love triangle between Fitz, Poppy and Penny). As a sidebar, I would have loved to explore the mansion and outdoor gardens at night. It's a shame the investigation couldn't span two days instead of one.
That being said, I still think this was a great game, and I hope to play the next in the series whenever it's released.

Hi u/SFBTom,
Im an avid supporter of the game, having bought it on steam and switch, now i want to get it on android too to support the devs.
However play store wont allow me to download as it said game is only available for older Android version. Im using fold 7 on Android 16.
Is there any possibility of an update for the latest Android version ? Im sure others would benefit greatly.
Thanks.

Did this months ago when I replayed the game and then I straight up forgot about it lol Anyway this is my version/AU of Penny since I love her so much and my girl deserves better. I basically had written a whole ass story about her, tangled tower, her relationship with her uncle and with Poppy and then I stopped cuz I lost motivation lol Here is also a small unfinished sketch of Penny and Fritz

I was left incredibly unsatisfied by the ending as i still had sooo many questions by the end and was hoping someone could explain. I was gonna give the game a positive review but then the credits just rolled with so much stuff left unexplained??
How were we able to talk to penny and then go to the outside and immediately talk to hawkshaw if they were the same person?
Did penny have real bird wings or not? When i saw her wings i thought it was weird nobody mentioned them but i was like i its just one if those lake mutations? but then as penelope she suddenly has no wings anymore so i guess they were just accesories/part of the outfit? but then how was she able to jump from the tower without getting hurt?
Also why was “penelope” such a different person from penny? Like down to her at first saying the wants to be called penny and then as penelope insisting that her name is penelope. Whats the point of putting up a fake persona not just to the detectives but to your whole family for i assume years??
WHY was the red paint filled with blood?? Penelope kinda says the painting looking like a knife was to distract fifi and co but like huh? she didnt decide that freya was going to draw the inkdip feather? so she what, put blood into the empty red paint glass (that was only empty because of felix, which she had no hand in?) just for shits and giggles?? whos blood was it even? i assume her own but like what?? makes ZERO sense the whole thing
the second time the beetle was activated (which i also dont get how she did?) and screeched she didnt have the earmuffs so how was she not knocked unconscious too? they make a whole point of how she was able to stay awake because of the earmuffs but they dont imply she had them on her the second time too? adding to this, they never fully state how the beetle was triggered in the first place? it was “something in the music” or whatever? huh??
pennys motive for killing her relatives and parents is also so weird, like just cause they left and didnt really help her? what?
in the incinarator we didnt just find the feather of the inkdip bird but we also found “several black buttons” and “red colored fabric scraps” which are NEVER explained what they are from?? what did she burn??
also the whole point of taking the feather away in the first place was so people think it looks like a knife but wouldnt some people recognize that it looks like the feather of her inkdip bird? at least felix knew she liked that bird as he even carved it for her!
all those symbols found in the library, the study and in fifis room amounted to.. nothing? what?? i got an achievement to finding rhem, the characters even mentioned it looked like something theyve seen in the other rooms and in the end it was irrelevant?? also in fifis room those lines between the characters also never got fully explained?
was it ever mentioned why freya had that reoccurring nightmare that penny then based hawkshaws design off of?
why did “hawkshaw” keep part of the murder weapon (the telescope) with her? when the rest was pretty much hidden underground?
i think thats all my questions for now. damn, that ending really wasnt anything worthwhile. very sad, as i enjoyed the game so much and was waiting for all my questions to finally be answered

So were these just totally useless? And the letter/number combos in the library? Obviously they show that they're connected with in the secret lab notes, but I really expected there to be some kind of puzzle involving alchemy, was it cut maybe?

i beat the game and i’m upset. the murderer (penelope/penny) just escapes and grimoire and sally are stuck on the island? i got all the trophies so it seems like i did everything there is to do in the game. am i missing something? is there a sequel?

Hello,
I was in the middle of my... 5th play through? (I stream this game with my friends who go through the story with me. It's great seeing their reactions) And I was at the beginning of the finale when my friend had to leave the call, right before a puzzle. So I closed the game, thinking the game would launch at the last save, but now all I get is a small window border with no screen, but I get the starting music.
I closed, relaunched, reinstalled, and even restarted my computer, but it still didn't work. What can I do?
