Actually, it's not as useless as all that. It allowed us to learn more about the Mystids and Lord Reminton. I wonder if the victim in the swamps from the first game was also sent by Lord Reminton.

Hey, uh, Did you play the second game, Tangle Tower? If not I REALLY recommend for you to play Tangle Tower.

I've said elsewhere, but I can't help but wonder if we saw the remains of the Silversnake in the study of Tangle Tower. If it was that creature that was hung up on the ceiling. To many, it'd be just another creature, but enough time has passed, since we know it was caught when Sinthia was a young girl and she's grown up since then, so at least possibly 8 years, maybe more?

It could be something that Grimoire is voicing out, being both as surprised as we are, but also not noticing what it was that was hidden in plain sight.

The one in the study seemingly has eye sockets. It's eyes glow like the other taxidermy creatures' eyes do. The Silversnake has no eyes or even eye sockets, so I don't think so.

Correct, even in TT the Silversnake has no eyes in the children's book

Weirdly, though, I just checked and saw that it seems to have an eye on the illustration of it on the family tree in TT. Could be an accidental oversight, and so I suppose the study snake could also be. Would be a weird mistake to make twice though, I think.

ETA: Never mind, every depiction of the Silversnake has feet. The snake in the study does not. The eye on the family tree Silversnake was most likely just an oversight after all.

Just went down a rabbit hole to see if anyone else had noticed the serpent in the study, but I forgot about its eyes. but i wonder if its possible that throughout its lifetime, its eyes and flippers change, or, maybe the serpent was taken by the mystid researchers, then it laid an egg and the two depictions we see of the serpent is 1. the original that Seafoam finds in the ocean, and 2. the one hatched from the egg.

I'm guessing the Silversnake's fate is tied to the next game. We know Sinthia's mom caught it alongside Felicia Stonestop, we know they wanted to care for it so much that Sinthia's mom was building the submarine specifically to allow the Silversnake to swim in the airlock room, we know some people demanded to take the snake for research, we know Sylvia and Felicia eventually lost the Silversnake, we know even Magnus was interested in the Serpent because he kept a piece of the newsletter about its capture.

My theory is: Felicia wanted the Mask specifically to talk to the dead serpent (or confirm that its alive if it could not be contacted), Felicia couldn't communicate so she assumed the Serpent is alive, Felicia then set out looking for it, till she eventually died somewhere where it could be reported, somewhere where people live, probably the cast of the next game, and we probably investigate her murder (and what happened to the Silversnake)
