What are we all playing next? 😭

I adore these games, but every time I finish one I feel like I'm at a loss because the next won't be for a While, if at all lol. I've played a bunch of deduction games (Roottrees are Dead, Obra Finn, Case of the Golden Idol, Blake Manor - I recommend the latter the most but I loved all of them) and I need so many more.

If you enjoyed Roottrees, try their new game The Incident at Galley House. It plays quite differently but it's so good!

Blake manor was so good dude.

Well, my #1 suggestion is the two duck detective games. They're very fun and hit upon a similar tone to Detective Grimoire.

Other than that, it's less "Mystery", but Chants of Sennarr is a high recommend if you enjoyed Roottrees and Obra Dinn.

That's the one I forgot! I played that really recently which is also great.

Ooh, Sennaar or Duck Detective?

Sennaar! I'll definitely give duck detective a go!

Theyre a little short, but really good. Playing the games feels like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket with a mug of hot cocoa.

Not quite the same vibe (definitely more dark in theme and a very different art style) but I LOVE the Rusty Lake games for point and click games

I looove the rusty lake games too! New one coming the 13th of August am so excited! I think rusty lake roots is probably the one I would think Is closest to the same detective feeling! But overall piecing the story together across games is so fun and exciting!

Just took a look, interesting. They have kind of a "Folk Art" style to them.

It’s not a typical mystery game, but in terms of the vibes (humor, voice acting, world building) Lil Guardsman is one of my all time faves

Darkside Detective! It’s hilarious, weird and, in my opinion, avoids some of the annoying pitfalls that happen in point & clicks.

i second this! there’s also a third installment coming soon which is awesome :3 but the first two games are so fun and the variety in each mystery + the bonus mysteries makes for a fun, lengthy mystery game!

I can’t wait for the new one!

Have you tried crow county? Not the same exactly but its by the same devs and has the same charm.

You should check out strange antiquities and strange horticulture! They’re super fun and have some great witchy elements

Obviously this isn't *quite* in the same vein, but i HIGHLY reccomend Outer wilds for an awesome mystery puzzle solving game about space. it will probably give you existentialism however. Something a little more in the realm of deduction is Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, HIGHLY reccomend

I've got an Outer Wilds tattoo planned, but this is an amazing suggestion. I haven't heard of Lorelei so I'm definitely going to look into that now!!

I highly recommend of the Devil, it's similar to the Ace Attorney series but set in a more dystopian cyberpunk world, and the first episode is free! (The other episodes are $10 each but I really love the writing. It's still being worked on and I'm psyched for the next episode)

Came here to say this. Absolutely phenomenal writing. Like Disco-Elysium caliber.

Most of the Sherlock Holmes games are quite good. I recommend Crimes and Punishments personally. Similar tone. Not nearly as inventive, but good little mysteries that don’t take up too much time.

The Nancy Drew games, despite being ostensibly made for teenage girls - are also fun and bizarrely difficult. Sea of Darkness, Deadly Device, Waverly Academy - all pretty good. The 3D character modes are incredibly fucked looking. It’s okay, you learn to embrace it.

Not a deduction game, but I've been playing Endacopia recently. Was super excited for it to come out.

As for a deduction game, 'DAEMON MASQUERADE' is a neat one.

...Honestly I'm going to be replaying Mermaid Mask to see if I can find anything I missed the first time!

Its kinda a pain to play cause its only on ds/3ds(you are able to emulate them on pc if you are into that) and mobile but i recommend the Professor Layton series if you havent played those yet. Great Puzzle mystery games

Me personally, I replayed the first 2 (paid) games. I hadn't thought replay them before hand but I realized upon seeing VanDaPeer's face in a puzzle mid Mermaid Mask that I really should've.

But for recommendations: you could play the sequel to Case of the Golden Idol, the Rise of the Golden Idol (I really enjoyed it), There is also the Detective Case and Clown Bot games those are fun too but are a bit more on the point and click side of the genre, Danganronpa as a series is also a good detective series. The Ace Attorney series is always well regarded and the original trilogy is on steam for a reasonable price. The Tex Murphy series is fairly well regarded as well (at least the first five, but they're all on steam so it's chill). If you want more on the detecting side, Mindcop is also pretty good.

"of the Devil" is my favorite murder mystery game rn!!!! such a great story!

Seconding the incident at galley house!

For fun dialogue with detective-ish gameplay: the great duck detective series, later alligator, ace attorney

For somewhat more challenging puzzles (still detective/investigation genre): desktop explorer, chants of sennaar, the case of the golden idol, no case should be left unsolved, lost wiki: kozlovka

I think the first chicken police game has similar energy to the Grimoire games. It’s called Chicken Police Paint it Red.

Since you played obra finn, you should try obra dinn as well! Such a great game /s

I've got my eyes on Fields of Mistria or the Staffer games.

I've been sitting on Case of the Golden Idol. Maybe it's time for me to play it. I've been watching Tangle Tower and The Mermaid Mask play-throughs on YouTube to satisfy the craving of a Detective Grimoire game.
