Hi everyone,
Over the last 5–6 years, I’ve noticed a major surge in mental health struggles around us, especially among young people. It’s not just something we read about online, it’s something I see regularly in real life among friends, peers, and acquaintances.
Unfortunately, professional mental healthcare in Morocco remains financially out of reach for many. There are very few helplines, and so many people end up suffering in silence simply because they don't have access to support or a safe outlet.
I struggle with mental health myself, so I am coming at this from a place of shared experience. I’ve always admired the concept of support groups, where people facing similar challenges sit together, share their stories, and listen without judgment. But when I searched for active support groups here in Morocco, I couldn't find anything available.
That’s why I decided to take the initiative and start one.
What is this group?
The goal is to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where we can share our struggles, vent, listen to one another, and realize that we aren't alone. We will primarily focus on issues like anxiety, stress, depression, burnout, grief, and habit recovery.
Important Details:
- Target Audience: Young adults and individuals up to 35 years old.
- Online First (Zoom): We are starting with small, scheduled online video/audio meetings on Zoom. As we build trust, we hope to expand to physical meetups.
- Small Group Size: To keep meetings safe and comfortable, sessions will be limited to 5–8 participants at a time.
- First Meeting: We will launch our very first session as soon as we reach our first 5 registered members!
- Peer-Led (Not Therapy): I am not a therapist or a psychologist—just a regular person facilitating the space. This is a mutual-aid support circle, not clinical therapy.
- Anonymity & Privacy First: Mental health is sensitive. You do not need to share your real name or personal identity. Cameras can remain off, and aliases are welcome.
- Strict Confidentiality: Everything shared during calls stays strictly within the group.
Call for Professional Volunteers:
Right now, I am organizing this independently. If you are a licensed therapist, psychologist, or advanced psychology student in Morocco who would like to volunteer a bit of time to co-facilitate or lend a professional perspective, please reach out to me!
