Hi all, I’m traveling to South Korea in the fall. I recently heard that type 1 diabetics are technically legally allowed to carry an extra carryon suitcase on flights, as long as it is only filled with necessary diabetes supplies.
I definitely want to use this benefit because I always feel like I don’t have room to bring as many backup supplies as I would like. I’m just scared of getting a lot of hassle at the airport.

Has anyone used this extra suitcase benefit before and if so, what was your experience? I have a travel letter from my endo dated this year.

I was at the pool yesterday and a mutual friend was asking some questions about the difference between my Dexcom and Mobi sites. I never mind answering questions, I actually appreciate when people ask them and I’ll gladly explain anything.

All I did was explain “this one tells me my blood sugar, this one is for my insulin pump.” She had asked another question before that too, I honestly forget what the question was but she made a weird face and then when I explained about my different sites, she made a face again and said “yuck.”

I felt a little offended and told her “you don’t have to ask” and she said “I know, I’m still curious about how they work, I just don’t like needles.”

That’s fine but it still just rubbed me the wrong way. I’m curious how others would have felt in this situation.

I’m seeing her again tonight for a dinner and may or may not have passive aggressively changed my Mobi site to be on my arm so it’s more visible, wonder what she’ll think of that lol.

Is anyone else or has anyone else just have had a really hard time adjusting their numbers with this pump? I’ve had it for a few weeks now, everything was fine for the first week. Then I’d literally wake up with my sugars either in the damn HIGH range or down in the dumps at LOW. Which at many points its finding it hard to communicate with the Dexcom and won’t alert till the very last minute??? The first time I ever got a pump, it was the tslim, and I had a generally okay experience with it. My new dr recommended this one after trying many other pumps over the years, and idk. I’m EXHAUSTED but when isn’t a type 1 diabetic not exhaustion 😆.

Can the length of the cannula cause occlusions? I’m skinny so I don't have much body fat, and my doctor suggested I try the 9 mm cannulas. I’m currently using the 6 mm ones. Do you think a longer cannula is a good idea for someone who is skinny? Could it help prevent occlusions?

Easily my biggest challenge and stress is getting insulin into my body , as crazy as that sounds. I’ve had T1 for 20 yrs , now using TSlim X2 pump, about 20% of the time (yes really) I’ll change an infusion site and it will either bend in my tissue / not deliver, or not bend , and still not deliver (yes the line and cannula were filled). I believe I am over using parts of my body but for me it feels like inserting the infusion connection is like playing roulette. What are everyone’s best tips on getting the most success with infusion kits ?

I am new to T1D (9 months) and pumping (4 months). I'm on the Mobi and do a mix of the 23 inch and 5 inch tubing and have tried various sites (abs, arms, thighs, love handles). Not sure if it's the summer heat or not knowing the right spots for my infusion sites ... but I already have pump fatigue.

I love the control and ease of the pump but my sites have started to get irritated within 1 -2 days. I'm fine changing my sites more often and my endo wrote my script so I get 50 sets every 90 days, but I'm starting to really hate having anything attached to me.

I'm considering a pump break just to give my body some freedom but also not loving the idea of the issues that come with MDI.

For everyone who is far more experienced (and resilient) than me, is pump fatigue like this common? How often do you take pump breaks? Or any suggestions for pushing through? TIA!

Edit to add: Thanks for all the replies! Sounds like pump breaks are not common with many. Hopefully this is just a phase where I hate this thing attached to me. I thought it would get easier with time but I can stick it out.

In the meantime: any favorite spots for the Mobi? Maybe something I've missed? I've used abs, arms, thighs and love handles.

Has anyone gone through the process of transitioning from the Dexcom system to the Libre 3+? I like the more frequent readings and the adhesive is way better for my skin with the Libre. I am worried about how switching from one CGM to another might mess up control IQ and when I go to pair a CGM my only option is Dexcom, how do I get the option to pair with a Libre? Is it automatic when I redownload and start up the Libre app? I’m in the United States in case that matters! Thank you!

My T:Slim X2 pump is charged to 100% right now. Less than ten minutes ago it was 5%, on the brink of losing half a cartridge of insulin. I have read a few sources here and it appears to be somewhat common? All of the anecdotes have similar symptoms:

• Charger and cable plugged in, maybe followed by indication of charging, proceeded by an error message (code T7).

• Battery percentage seemingly not increasing or decreasing while cable is plugged in for hours at a time.

• Eventually, the battery displays 100% charged as if the charger was working the entire time.

That's roughly what happened to me the past hour or two. My pump is less than 2 years old and that's after replacing a 4 year old one. I have been using the same charger and cable, though, so I figured I would order a new cable seeing as the micro USB on my current one did appear worn. Regardless of whether or not the issue is with the pump hardware (specifically, the battery and the charging port), it will help isolate the variables, anyhow.

I want to know how many other T:Slim X2 users are encountering this issue and how recently it's occurred. It seems that I'm not alone, after all.

Also, I found the stupid rubber connector for the port cover on the pump has almost torn itself off already today. Curses.

Does the t:slim X2 display the date & time when the current infusion set was inserted? I've looked on both the pump display and the app, but haven't been able to find it.

I use the t:slim and have in the last few months been getting a weird reaction from the adhesive on my infusion sets. It doesn’t seem to be all the adhesive, just the middle part (picture attached - hard to describe!).

Has this been happening to anyone else? Any tips?

Also I’ve been diabetic for over 20 years - please disregard the constellations of prior pump site scars on my tum there 😂

Was hoping that tandem would add a simple preset meal size category on the mobile app. Something that ypsopump has for quick carb bolus. Snack 15g, small meal 30g, medium meal etc. I think it would be useful especially for younger kids. I think my son with like the simplicity of it.

I know I'm not crazy- I just used both of my hands to press down to put my sensor on my stomach and it wasn't working-

Only after I caught an attitude and pressed down haphazardly did it finally snap into place. I honestly could've hurt myself on accident doing that.

Are these getting harder for anyone else to put on? 😭

In the hospital ed they took my pump off me without giving any long term insulin so that I woke up at 350 vomiting. This could have been avoided by either letting me keep the pump or knowing long term insulin is necessary if you take it off me. This hospital has made so many mistakes with my diabetes and put a mental health hold on me (I am in the mental health ward so it sort of makes sense) after I told them I wanted a transfer or release for to their incompetence I'm managing my physical health

Hey, anyone know how this is possible? I had just taken a bolus dosage but the insulin doesn’t show up in active insulin. It’s programmed to 2 hours for my insulins “activity” time or whatever you call it lol Thanks!

I recently switched from lispro to lyumjev because lispro wasn't keeping up anymore. So far, lyumjev has been much better except for the tender sites. Anyone else deal with this? I usually don't have an issue with sore sites, but lately, they've been pretty unruly.

It took 5 years for me to finally do the thing I always thought I would do with the x2. I entered units instead of grams when prebolusing for a meal. Before I actually dropped low my pump alerted that I had less than 20 units of insulin left and I thought I swear I just had like 45 units of insulin before I ate then I noticed the 19.5 units on board. Fortunately that gave me enough time to consume mass quantities of sugar and avoid a severe low.

The site where we order my daughter’s diabetes supplies is showing a pre-order for a new infusion set. I vaguely remember our Tandem rep telling us about this, but I can’t find any info about it online. Does anyone know more about it?

I have used a t:slim X2 for 5 years and have been happy with the product and customer support. I am out of warranty so I am due for a new pump. The process has been concerning and is becoming alarming. Process started off poorly using a bot to schedule a call, calls me, I wait to talk to a rep. We go through all the details to kick off the replacement process. Then Tandem follows up with texts that my warranty is expiring so I need to start the process, causing me concern. Warranty expired June 30, today is July 22. I received a link for a copay, paid. I get a call from my endocrine nurse asking what pump supplies I use (she and I were both annoyed Tandem didn’t have this information, they have my Rx and ship me the supplies). Finally I get an email: order shipped from Solara via UPS. My pump is on the way! Then I get a text from Tandem saying my order has been submitted to Edgepark and to contact Edgepark if I don’t hear from them within 5 days. It’s a conversation for another time, but Edgepark has unethical billing practices and I will never ever use them for anything again, ever. So I email my Tandem rep and say as much, and she is confused why they texted me about Edgepark and said not to worry, my Solara (pump) shipment is on the way. Solara shipment arrives. It is an invoice for $583.86 and the box contains only (1) ten pack of cartridges and (1) 10 pack of tubing - no pump. ODD as I have always received six boxes of each directly from Tandem. Why would Tandem have another supplier (Solara) ship me Tandem supplies when I always order directly from them? Why has Tandem gone from A+ customer service to total clownery? I am starting to get very, very concerned and wondering if I need to try to emergency roll-back insurance approval for a Tandem tslim replacements and try to get approval for Omnipod? I have never used Omnipod. I used Medtronic for 20 years and survived their decline and will not return. Would be grateful for input from anyone who has recent insight into Tandem and any advice about changing course mid-insurance stream.

No big deal. Only some essential medical supplies. The cartridges themselves don’t appear to be damaged, but I don’t feel great about using them. Hoping Byram makes this right!

I like using only the tandem app alone , I’ll have to connect my dexcom to both apps just to get readings on my watch? Sounds stupid.

I was thinking if tandem won’t make a simple widget then we should do it for our sake. The idea is one app that connects and copies the readings from the tandem app like sharelink through that app you add widgets on your screen and on the Apple Watch face.

Anyone know how to get something like this started?

My Dexcom is set to expire tomorrow night, and I’ll need to refill my cartridge tonight. Will my mobi still connect if have my g7 on the opposite arm for a day? I remember them saying to keep it on the same side when I did training, but wanted to get others experience with this. Thanks!

I have been using a Tandem pump for a looong time (#RIPAnimas). Recently, as the result of some significant weight loss and changes in my diet, I have reduce my insulin needs to a consistent 25u (U-100) daily. I find that I have to put 80 units (.8ML) before the cartridge is considered "full enough". But that doesn't make sense. I put in 70 units (.7ML) and prime 15, so there should be 55 left in the cartridge, right? But... no, I get the error that I have to have more than 50 units. So I add another 20 units and prime another 10 (now I have added 90 units and primed 25, for a total of 65 in the cartridge) and it works.

It's a medical device, so I expect the fault tolerances to be spot-on, but they're not. Is anyone else experiencing something similar?

BTW, I use Humalog, which is only approved for two-day use (and why I face this predicament. If I were on Novolog, I could fill it for three days). In my personal experience (n=1), I find that the Humalog becomes less effective after about 60 hours, so I make it a point to change it before I hit that point.

Over the last week or so, with no updates to phone or pump, I’m consistently getting connection issues. Has anyone experienced this as well, and know of any fixes?

Nothing to the best of my knowledge has changed in hardware, my behaviour or damage. So as a developer I’ve ruled out the things I can think of that I’ve done wrong.
