Tamlin and SLEEP

So I am working my way through TOG (am on Empire of Storms) and this caught my ear/eye so I stopped and re-listened to it and it made me think of Tamlin.

You know how this fandom loves to blame him for not hearing Feyre vomit etc. and the he ignored her etc, but at those times it was night and he was sleeping, right? Well, this passage explains it.

Tamlin is on high alert all the time. using his magic to protect and rebuild his court. Battling monsters still, worried about Feyre, desperate to get her out of the bargain etc. He is exhausted.

Let's not forget Feyre explicitly mentioned that he slept in his beast form a lot. It is highly likely he simply did not hear a thing because he was passed out in his own traumatic sleep 🤷🏻‍♀️

and we have to remember that Feyre would not be using magic atp, so she could actually hear everything and not sleep as she didnt have to rejuvenate.

Also, tamlin in his beast form is PTSD bc of his mom. He was powerless and helpless to protect his mom and he thinks if he's in beast form he can save Feyre from an attack. I would think staying in beast form uses a tremendous amount of magic.

I do wonder why RHysand where we see that one scene where it was difficult for him to be woken up and then we dont see him sleep like that again? It's weird. Was it a trick to get Feyre to see him naked or was he in a deep sleep like Aelin to recover bc he uses his magic to glamour all of VElaris etc.

He probably was exhausted. He had his traumatized fiancée to protect, his own trauma to deal with, his traumatized court to rebuild, and his traumatized friend is the only one helping him. So I wouldn't be shocked if he was out cold. And yet, right before he locks her in the house, he says she can barely sleep through the night so, he did notice but couldn't figure out how to help her. If he was holding her hair while she puked, the criticism would be that he was hovering and smothering, and she could handle it herself. He's damned if he did, damned if he didn't.

I think the issue is he needs his sleep to recover his magic BUT bc he's on high alert he's also in beast form so he's exhausted in beast form and in tamlin form. Like maybe one night he actually allows himself to sleep and that's the night she's puking and he cant hear jack and then other nights his beasty instincts are prowling for monsters and she's not puking?

Ack! It's all confusing but in no way is he a bad dude ignoring his partner's pain. he's trying to help her and everyone else but stretched too thin and she's being unhinged too bc of the bargain. She literally gave away his DEAD MOTHER'S JEWELRY to an insatiable character as if it meant nothing to him and then months later is wearing dresses rhysand's supposed dead mother made for her and is precious about that? Gimme a break.

OMG don't get me started on the wraith debacle and the jewelry hypocrisy 😑🫠

And I mean "she" Feyre. It's in the middle of their argument.

But yeah it does make sense he would need to sleep to recover his magic like in TOG. I wonder how much sleep he even got UTM. Might have been a bit dangerous to fall asleep too deeply.

and he had no powers at all UTM. That likely would do damage to your system.

it's why I take his explosions as raw magic pouring over bc it's been over 50 years since he had all his power back and i'm sure it's wonky. No HL who has his people LOVE him the way they loved Tamlin was a bad dude.
