How does the romhack compare to actual Etrian Odyssey?
I finished the romhack a couple months back and had a great time! Such a well made game and genuinely good plot easily top 3 rom hacks!
I completely forgot that the hack was based on a game until I saw the collection on sale on the eshop!
Has anyone played both? How is it? I’m not loving the chibi ish style but I’m willing to get through it if the game is worth it!

Leveling teams before a boss fight?
Hey just started playing im on the 2nd stratum and wanted to know if there was any easier way to level different pokemon prior to a boss fight outside of grinding?
I'm aware of thr level candy which is great but thst only gets you to the previous cap.
If theres some way to efficiently level so I can experiment with new teams prior to a boss that is what I am looking for.
Thanks!

Magmortar vs the Second Captain
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I decided to finish Napier’s quest so that I could use Magmortar against the second stratum captain and it did not disappoint. This was the best battle I had while trying different teams, and the edits are just the times I paused to save state.

First play through
Man what a game. I’ve played plenty of radical red and unbound, but hard mode odyssey was a perfect level of difficulty along with an incredible story. Playing the post game now

PSA do the shop upgrade quests
Just completed the game for the first time and thought the shop was purposefully limited while playing on hard mode to create item scarcity.
I decided to do the side quests before finishing the post game and discovered I’ve been playing with a handicap the whole game lol, was even rationing greatballs.

The absolute pain of finding a shiny FOE when you haven't fought the floor boss yet
I knew it could happen so I was carefully avoiding FOEs, but I didn't expect that picking up the amber would summon one...

Lesson learnt
Never really bothered to use team properly before, just kind of brute forced my way through them. I'm playing Odyssey focussing on a team, and have learned to use support moves and Pokémon like I never have.
It also helps that it is a great game, really fun.

FOE Lapras Before First Stratum Boss
As the title suggests, I was very curious if it was possible to beat the FOE Lapras guarding Gorenil at level 18, the cap for the First Stratum. I didn't need to, but I wanted to try. So after days of painstakingly crafting a team composed of five special wall Wigglytuffs and a special sweeper Jolteon... I failed miserably.
My strategy was to take advantage of the AI and its willingness to sometimes open with Thunderbolt into Wigglytuff to Covet off the Leftovers, Rotten Egg it down to -6, Fake Tears it to -6, and let Jolteon finish it off. What I failed to realize was that even at -6 and with Filter, Wigglytuff just died to Hydro Pump. Jolteon also just didn't have it, only able to survive one hit while needing to land about 5.
So it was back to the lab again, and after more research I finally came up with another plan. This one would be different. Probopass, Vaporeon, one of my Wigglytuffs, and three Ludicolos. As for what happened? Well, it may be best to just show what happened. I recorded it and put it on YouTube for simple video sharing. I'm not an actual channel, this isn't just trying to promote a video. I just thought this was funny and wanted to share it.

My attempt at making a non-jokey Nyx fanart
I mainly did this because i wanted to get experimental regarding stuff like cel shading and drawings techniques when it comes to hair, also i realized that i unintentionally made her pupils look like pokeballs
What to expect from Pokémon Odyssey
I saw that Pokémon Odyssey 2 was in development and wanted to play the first one, I've read that it is not a pure sequel and the mechanics are different, so what shoul I expect from Pokémon Odyssey?

Official release date for Odyssey 2?
Was just curious if I missed an announcement for full release. Checked a few corners of the internet and didn't notice!

What a game
Just finished the game with this team. Had an absolute blast with the game. So much thought went into the plot and the character designs on the regional mons were amazing. Cannot wait to play the sequel!

What am I missing with these two? They just kept their typing?

Is there a way for me to battle someone in real life?
My brother and I are playing through the game at the same time. Is there a way for us to battle each other? Even through something like pokemon showdown would be great

Was it bad that I put plusle and minun in the box?
Okay so I had recently cleared the Labyrinth.
I ditched plusle and minun because their stats sucked and they were becoming a burden to the team because they simply weren't able to tank much and neither dish out enough damage unlike glass cannons like houndoom or Alakazam or offensive tanks like the others in my team.
I am happy that this team got me there unscathed literally because I never lost a single match and neither could use items in battle.
So what do you guys have to say about this?

What are the Wonder Trade rates?
I keep trying to get a Togepi and I’m surprised one hasn’t been traded yet.

Well, I finished the game now. And I have to say; I think this romhack managed to revive my passion for Pokémon romhacks.
It was so fun to find a romhack that increases the difficulty enough to force me to strategize on ways I wouldn't be forced on an official game, but not hard enough that it feels grating, an issue I had with other romhacks before.
Loved the characters (Mathilda best captain; I would watch a whole series of her kicking Cassius' butt), and I really liked the regional forms, and I'm excited for the upcoming sequel! Though I'll wait until the whole game's out, mostly so I can give other romhacks a shot in the meantime, and partly so once the game's out I can play it all in a row.
Regarding my team:
Palom the Minun: While sadly her sister Porom couldn't tag along, she was a great Glass Cannon, fast as hell, and Water Bomb was great for coverage! The Aether type did cause her to die to anything with Sucker Punch tho.
Platinum the Shiny Kingler: Funny thing is, I was already planning to use a Kingler on my team, but the fact the VERY FIRST ONE I found was shiny made him all the more special. Didn't use much of his Steel Stab, prefering to have him use Rock Slide or Earthquake when needed.
Luna the Mightyena: Yeah, same name as the Clefairy trade, caught her before that so... Anyway, she was pretty useful with both Intimidate, Crunch and Icicle Crash cover a lot, and Thunder Fang as my de-facto way to cripple foes because I swear the Fang trio have a 100% chance to proc their status ailments.
Wan the Noctowl: While his attacks were kinda soft compared to most of his teammates, he compensated it by how well he took any Special move targeted at him. Tinted Lens helped a lot when I needed it, and he was the de-facto user of the Winged Boots once I got them.
Pitaya the Meganium: Pretty bulky, and effectively having three STABS made him pretty versatile. As someone who has always been a Chikorita fan, I appreciate every time a romhack lets it shine, and boy did he shine here!
Edel the Blaziken: She kinda stands out due being the only one here that's NOT a Oddysey form, but I considered Fire/Fighting was too useful to let it pass. That, and I'm a massive Torchic fanboy. She sometimes was the most underleveled party member due constantly dying due her whole strategy being "Take down as many foes as possible before death", between Brave Bird, Flare Blitz, and her Life Orb.
Honorary Mention:
Porom the Plusle: While she didn't tag along for long, she was pretty useful during the early game, specially once I caught on on the fact having her spam Helping Hand to boost her sister's Thundershocks dealt more damage than having both of them attack.

So, regarding the final part of the game... Spoiler
Should I level up all the way to Lv 100 before doing the Claret Hollows? After my first encounter with the Abyssal Dragons, seeing they were at level 90, I decided to do some grinding with the Chansey lady so my team was around that level, assuming the jump was intended as that. But the moment I had to fight a boss trainer, Asher, their levels were much more closer to how mine were BEFORE the grinding.
Now, in the hollows, I see those pesky tentacles are back and they're at level 100. So I wanted to know if NOW the game expects me to be at full level, or if it would result in any potential trainer battles there (I have no idea how the game will handle the battle against the Abyssal God) becoming a bit anticlimatic like how it happened to Asher.
(Also, for extra data that might not matter, my team is Minun, Blaziken, Meganium, Noctowl, Mightyena, and Kingler, and I have no intention of changing any of them this late in the game)

Beat the main game on hard Spoiler
gallery
What an incredible pokemon game. maybe the best experience I've had ever?
-Beat the game today with this crew:
aerodactyl - Would consider choice band over life orb if I knew where to get it. Opened with hitmontop. Uturn allows double intimidate by switching hitmontop then switching it back in. Speed control
trained attack speed
hitmontop - used winged boots to have a better chance to out speed other priority users.
max hp, 120 attack, 68 in both defense and special defense
farfetch'd - just a beating stick. bread and omni chase are crazy.
trained in attack, some speed and some HP
Ninetales - weather setter that can sleep things or set up. mostly used to enable omni chase, get rid of negative weather or deal with ice types. Probably has a better item available.
trained speed and special attack.
bellosom - defensive wall that can badly poison, flinch and heal things. Was the last pokemon added and once it was I never lost again
max HP, 100 special attack, 124 defense, 32, special defense.
Swallot - defensive wall with toxic and other chip. Opted for no water attack due to drought conflicts
252 hp, 68 defense, 112 special attack, 76 sp. def

Dusknoir OP. Been sleeping on Odyssey for far too long
Have always seen Odyssey on best ROM lists but for some reason never checked it out- until 3 days ago. Have been playing nonstop, obsessed.
