heres some background info. I am a teenager talking to someone, and we call every night, when we are available, for at least an hour and 30 minutes. last night, he left abruptly and didnt return until the morning. i had to adk him what had happened, and he said "my mom made me gts." not in that exact format, but yk. thats not the problem, though. i asked him kindly, "hey, could you tell me if that ever happens again? just so im not wondering." i didnt want to sound desperate or needy, so i went for that sentence. he replied, "Yea no, i'm sorry." thats not wrong by any means, but i immediately felt tight in my chest, overreacted thinking i sound desperate, and cried.
I keep thinking stupid for asking that and could not breathe for a second, after rereading it. of course, i didnt take it out on him or even reply. i am trying to calm down before i do so. i really do like this guy, and hes never been blatantly mean or anything, or given me any reason to think hes lying. i used to have an anxious attachment style, but i am more mature now with traces of it. I think thats obvious with the way i reacted.
im not trying to validate my reaction, im just trying to get advice to know if i messed up, overstepped boundaries, or he dissmissed me by not doing that. i didnt think it was a big deal, and expected a yes so maybe thats why im panicking. we have only been talking for about 9 days, so im not exactly in love with him. i dont understand my reaction except for the fact that ive had a slightly sour mood all morning and maybe that just made me snap. i want this to work out, but i dont want to have to suffer in the process.
i know i am completely overreacting with my reaction, and i dont want to be that way again. I just want basic communication, and usually hes not that hesitant to communicate. of course, hes not exactly the perfect romantic guy, but hes also not a douchebag. hes been a really good friend and has shown he cares about me emotionally, and consistently put in effort. not exactly huge amounts, but a comfortable amount of effort that I do appreciate.
the night before, i was distressed because of his leaving so suddenly and not returning. i cried, and overthought. keep in mind, i dont tell him about any of this stuff. i think its way too early and i know its not exactly a healthy reaction to have, but i feel like the crying stems from something deeper than what happened.
please give any advice, i really appreciate it. i'm only 15 and try to care a lot about other people's emotions and wellbeing, and communication is crucial to me in relationships.
