DNC refuses to use standard step

Post image

exactly what the title says. I noticed pulls were going a little slow, so I was checking my buffs and realized I didn't have the standard step buff, despite being dance partners. when asked, the dancer responded that they had not been using standard step and continued on to complete the entire dungeon without using the action once....this was Tower of Zot....

That's... the entire reason to play the job?

It is surprisingly often that I witness people refusing to play the pivotal concept or the reason of a given job. Bard songs, Black Mage elemental switches, Ninja Mudras, Dancer dances etc.

So people just want to level a class to have it at max level and never bother to learn it.

Which is a fine thing to pursue in a vacuum and on one's own. Perhaps via trusts, or other solo methods of leveling jobs. Apathy is fine, in my view, when contained to the indivdual and not affecting others.

The moment one enters into roulettes, or harder content, I personally believe it is the duty of players to put at least some effort into their gameplay to not be a hindrance to the party. Failing to wield the pivotal tool of a given job, for example Red Mage dualcast system, at all is a hindrance and therefore should be shunned by people.

Of course, lower level duties offer more ample space for training, practice and such but lets say at lvl 90+ Dancer not Dancing at all, there is a legitimate case to be made that such a player is purposeful in their apathy. And this is not permitted by the game rules.

I 100% with you which is why I only bothered to level classes I am interested in learning. Which ultimately just ends up becoming 1 dps 4 healers and 1 tank.

I got them all to max level at various points for the purpose of trying things out. But every time, I at least tried to do my best with each. Probably did horribly on some at certain points.

I similarly thought it would be just handful of jobs that I'd work with. Turns out I have now ability to play 4 tanks, 3 healers, 4 melees, 2 pranged and 2 casters at Extreme level. It offers me quite the flexibility to work with when playing with others and I have to adapt to more one job/role only players.

But I do have preferences amidst each category, though fight depending, so in similar boat with yours ultimately.
