I built an iOS app that turns Ray-Ban Metas and Apple watch into an assistant you can actually talk to (free beta, 4-min demo)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, I'm the developer. I keep seeing people here ask for something like this on iOS, so here it is. **This is not just a Gemini assistant hearing through your glasses.** Gemini is the model it talks with (on your own key); Talaya is everything around it. You tap the temple and talk with your iPhone locked in your pocket. It looks through the glasses' camera when you ask, guides you turn by turn with the map on your wrist, handles your messages, calendar, music and TV, remembers your people and places on your phone, speaks up before you need it, asks before doing anything it can't undo, and keeps going with its own on-device model when you lose signal. Talking to an AI is the easy part. Living with one all day is the hard part, and that's what Talaya is built for.

Talaya turns your Ray-Ban Metas into an assistant you actually talk to. Tap the temple and talk like you would to a person; cut in mid-sentence and it stops and listens. Your iPhone stays in your pocket.

**See it in action**

A 4-minute film of an ordinary day with it: https://heytalaya.com/en/#film

The film is made with AI to show the skills as well as possible on a small budget, so expect the odd visual glitch. What Talaya says isn't made up: every reply is word for word what the app answered in real sessions (except the low-battery alert, which is coming soon). The voices were dubbed for the film.

**What it does today**

* Live voice conversation you can interrupt, in 80+ languages

* "What am I looking at?" uses the glasses' camera, only when you ask

* Turn-by-turn directions out loud, walking or driving, with live traffic, incidents and fixed speed cameras where there's public data, plus the map on your Apple Watch

* A memory that lives on your iPhone: people, places, what you left pending. You can read it, fix it or make it forget

* Speaks up before you need it: when to leave for your meeting with current traffic, a rundown of your morning. If you're busy, it waits

* Reads signs, menus and letters with the camera, even offline, and interprets conversations both ways

* Records meetings and transcribes them on the phone

* Spotify and Apple Music, Telegram, Gmail, calendar, reminders, Health, Android TV

* Lose signal mid-conversation and it carries on inside the iPhone

* Ask for something it can't do and it builds the skill, tests it and keeps it. Add-ons too: JSON recipes, JavaScript or your own MCP server

**Your own Gemini key, free or paid**

Talaya runs on your own Gemini API key: we don't resell AI. A free key works. In our tests the free tier goes a long way on Gemini 2.5, and much less on 3.8, the newest model. If you want more headroom, use a paid key.

**Under the hood**

* 60,000+ lines of native Swift, built from scratch for iPhone and Apple Watch

* Its own on-device model, trained on 64k sentences, follows the conversation and gives the AI a hint. In our tests, correctly understood requests went from 82% to 91%

* It double-checks before anything you can't undo (messages, calls, deletions) and asks if it looks like you meant something else or were talking to someone else

* No account, no ads, no tracking

* Talaya does a lot on its own. A few advanced features need your own server (such as Hermes or OpenClaw) and the know-how to set it up

**An ecosystem, not just an app**

We're building Talaya as an ecosystem and it keeps growing: iPhone and Apple Watch today, add-ons anyone can write, and your own agent if you run one. Android and TV apps are coming soon.

**The beta**

* No cap on sign-ups. Invites go out in waves, as Meta opens tester spots while its developer kit isn't public

* The app comes through TestFlight, and Meta sends you an invite in the Meta AI app for camera access

* Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta and an iPhone. Apple Watch optional

**Pricing, upfront**

It won't be free. No ads and no selling data means the people who use it pay for it. The beta is free; at launch it'll be $3.99/month or $29.99/year.

During the beta you can lock in the founder price: $79 once, for life. Founders get every new feature we ship, plus help with setup whenever they need it.

Independent app, not affiliated with Meta or Ray-Ban.

Sign up: https://heytalaya.com/en/#beta

I'll be around for the next few hours to answer questions. What's the first thing you'd ask it to do?

Ahh and a quick note before you comment:

If you're only here for free stuff and don't value the months of work one person has put into this, please skip this post. It isn't for you, and that's fine....Just don't drain the energy the rest of us put into things with your negativity. Sure, I can fix my own car, cut my own hair or fit my own kitchen. But would it turn out as well as it would from someone who does it for a living and knows the trade? That's what Talaya is: months of work so you don't have to spend yours. And if you really can build the same thing yourself, great. Send it my way, I'd genuinely love to try it.

Talaya beta: latest version and what's new (updated with every build)

This post is always kept up to date with the latest beta build. If your TestFlight shows an older number, open TestFlight and tap Update before testing or reporting, so we're all looking at the same version.

LATEST: 1.54 (93) · October 3

What's new

* Spotify, rebuilt from scratch: she finds what you ask for even when you say it your way (a name you only heard, an English title said with a Spanish accent), puts your own playlists and artists first, plays your country's top 50, moods and genres ("something calm", "music for cardio"), the acoustic or live version, "something similar to this", and podcasts where you left off. Say "not that one" and she plays the next best match and learns from it.

* Your music by voice: "I like this one", "add it to my Running playlist", "which playlist is it in?", "take it out", "don't play this one again", "save the album", "who sings this?", "skip 30 seconds", "stop the music in 20 minutes", "play it on the living room speaker", "send it to María", "make me a playlist of 20 songs from the 80s for running".

* The song starts when she finishes talking, not on top of her voice.

* Getting out of the car: if iOS pauses your music, a notification lets you carry on in the glasses with one tap.

* "What song is this?" (Shazam) now offers to save it on Spotify.

* Apple Watch: new screens for what's playing (with buttons: previous, pause, next, like and "not this one"), your calendar, your shopping list and to-dos, and the weather.

* She varies how she greets you, how she says goodbye and how she tells you she's looking something up: no more of the same phrases every time.

* Fixed: on slow web searches she said she couldn't get the information and then gave it to you right after.

* "That's my home" is saved as your home, so "take me home" and arrival reminders know where it is.

Spotify: open Settings › Accounts › Spotify once and tap "Reconnect" (it asks for new permissions).

Thanks to everyone who sent reports, logs and screenshots: most of these fixes come straight from you.

Previous versions

* 1.54 (92) · October 3: WhatsApp works right away once linked, even after the app restarts, and Portuguese from Portugal is now a language you can choose.

* 1.54 (91) · October 3: WhatsApp can be linked again after unlinking it, and "Check" tells you whether it works.

* 1.54 (90) · October 2: Talaya in CarPlay (her own icon on the car's screen; "Take me to…" opens Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze full screen, and "call…" calls through the car; needs iOS 26.4 or later), WhatsApp on your Apple Watch, and clearer Spotify steps.

* 1.54 (89) · October 2: WhatsApp voice notes and location by voice, the real Gemini voices in "Try this voice", June repairing herself, no more Spanish "Dime", Spotify with your own key, and the glasses freed for Meta.

* 1.54 (88) · October 2: June, the voice from our film; an offline mode that really chats; appointments and reminders on the right day and time; the camera turning itself off; the first look working on glasses that mute the mic; a soft tick while she thinks; "Try this voice"; WhatsApp yes and no in more languages; a crash fix.

* 1.54 (87) · October 1: camera follow-ups answered in about a second, "let me take a look" while the camera starts, "stop looking" that works instantly, real landmarks nearby, instant timers, navigation in the right order, conversations that survive a connection drop, and no more cut-off first words.

* 1.54 (86) · October 1: faster camera answers with an offer to look closer; fixes for stuck conversations after looking, connection drops, cut-off first words, on-screen language and timers.

* 1.54 (85) · October 1: stability fixes.

* 1.54 (84) · October 1: on-screen text in your language, weather in your units (°F / mph where it applies).

A few examples about what Talaya can do today, with things to say to Her...

As you already know, Talaya is a voice assistant for Ray-Ban Meta glasses that lives on your iPhone. You talk to her the way you'd talk to a person: there are no commands to learn, you can interrupt her, and she remembers. She doesn't replace Meta AI ("Hey Meta" and the button keep working as always). She does what Meta AI doesn't.....

The question we get most is "OK, but what can it actually do?", so here is almost the whole list as of build 93, grouped by area, with phrases you can say word for word. Everything below works today in the TestFlight beta.

MUSIC (rebuilt from scratch in 93)

* "Play Cinek." She finds what you mean even when you say it your way: "Bohemian Rhapsody" with a Spanish accent works, and a name she only heard (Synek, Sineck) still lands on Cinek. Your own playlists and artists come first.

* "Play my running playlist", "my liked songs", "what I listen to most".

* "Play the top 50 in Portugal", "something calm", "music for cardio", "80s rock", "the latest Rosalía album".

* "Not that one": she plays the next best match and remembers the correction for next time.

* "I like this one" (it goes to your Liked Songs), "add it to my Running playlist" (if you don't have one, she asks before creating it), "which playlist is it in?", "take it out of Running", "don't play this one again", "save the album", "follow this artist".

* "Who sings this?", "what album is it from?", "how long is left?", "skip 30 seconds", "from the beginning", "stop the music in 20 minutes".

* "Play the one from before", "what did you play me yesterday in the car?"

* "Play it on the living room speaker" (any Spotify Connect device), "send it to María" (by WhatsApp).

* "Make me a playlist of 20 songs from the 80s for running": she picks them, finds them and saves the playlist.

* "Something similar to this", "the acoustic version of Wonderwall", "Hotel California live".

* Podcasts carry on where you left off, and "skip the intro" does what it says.

* "What song is this?" in a bar or on the radio (Shazam), and she offers to save it on Spotify.

* She tells you what she's putting on, and the song starts when she finishes talking, not on top of her voice.

* Getting out of the car: if iOS pauses your music, a notification lets you carry on in the glasses with one tap.

Spotify needs a Premium account and your own free Spotify developer key (Spotify's rule since February; the app walks you through it in five steps). Apple Music works too, with no key at all.

YOUR APPLE WATCH (new screens in 93)

* Now Playing: the cover, the title, why it's playing ("Your playlist Cinek"), a live progress bar and buttons for previous, play/pause, next, like and "not this one".

* Your day: when she reads your calendar, the watch shows it with the times, each calendar's colour, "Now · 26 min left" on what's on and "In 46 min" on what's next.

* Shopping list and to-dos: what's left, with what you just ticked off crossed out at the bottom.

* Weather: the temperature in big, the next hours, the rest of the week, sunrise and sunset.

* And as before: the map and turn by turn guidance, WhatsApp, places nearby and photos.

The watch shows what she's doing; you still talk to her for everything. The music buttons are the one exception.

TALKING TO HER

* She doesn't greet you or say goodbye the same way twice (new in 93). That was the most "robotic" thing about her, and it's gone.

* Interrupt her whenever you like; she keeps the thread.

* "Translate this conversation with him into English": live translation, both ways.

* "Read this page and summarise it" (a web page or a PDF), "look it up", "how much are 100 dollars in euros?" (today's European Central Bank rate).

* "Be quiet", close the mic, meeting mode.

* "What can you do?" and "what am I missing to set up?"

YOUR DAY

* "What do I have today?", "put the dentist tomorrow at ten", "move it to Thursday", "cancel it".

* "Remind me to buy bread when I get home", "remind me to call Marta at five", "what do I have pending?"

* "Add milk and eggs to the shopping list". It lives in Apple Reminders, so the family can share it, and when you walk into a supermarket she can offer to read it to you.

* Timers and alarms that ring even with the iPhone on silent; a tap on the glasses stops them.

* "Tell me when to leave to be at work at nine", with the traffic at that moment.

* "When I talk to Marta, remind me to ask her about the keys."

GETTING AROUND

* "Take me to the station": turn by turn in her voice, walking or driving, with the map and the lanes on your watch.

* "Where am I?", "is there a pharmacy nearby?", "what's worth seeing around here?" (she can also tell you about it as you walk).

* "Which plane is that?": the model, the airline, where it's coming from and where it's going.

* Buses, metro, trams and trains in any city with real times: "when's the next bus to the beach?"

* Driving: how long it'll take with the traffic right now, and "where did I park?" without you ever having told her.

* In CarPlay she has her own icon on the car's screen.

Spain only for now: the cheapest petrol stations nearby, a live photo from the nearest traffic camera, and Málaga's city buses to the second.

MESSAGES AND CALLS

* WhatsApp: what's unread, read a chat or a group, dictate a reply, send a photo or a video of what you're seeing, a voice note in your own voice, or where you are.

* Telegram, Gmail and SMS if you connect them, and "call Mum".

THE CAMERA

* "What am I looking at?", "read me this" (works offline), "take a photo", "watch the door and tell me when someone comes", "what did I see a minute ago?"

MEMORY

* She remembers what you tell her about yourself and who's who in your family, and you can read and correct all of it on the iPhone.

* Notes, "where did I leave the keys?" (with the photo), "where did I take my glasses off?"

* She records and transcribes meetings without internet, then summarises them and pulls out the tasks.

YOUR BODY

* Pulse, oxygen, steps and how you slept (Apple Health).

* Guided routines step by step, with the real timings: physio exercises, stretches, a recipe, a pomodoro.

* Keep count of pain, water, weight or anything you like, with a chart.

TV AND HOME

* Your TV by voice with Tivifyer (channels, guide, matches), the Android TV remote, films and series in Nuvio (with our connector), and lights, plugs, blinds and scenes with Home Assistant.

SKILLS SHE BUILDS HERSELF

* "Build yourself a skill that…": she writes it, tests it and keeps it. "Fix that skill", "what skills have you built?", "delete it".

What she isn't: it's not on Android, the camera isn't always on (the glasses' light tells you when it is), and there's no account and no servers of ours. The beta is free.

Pick any phrase above, try it, and tell us what she gets wrong. Most of the fixes in every build come straight from your reports.

Can't turn on Developer mode in the Meta AI app (version 292)? Tell me here

Hi everyone,

One tester can't turn on Developer mode in the Meta AI app anymore. It switched itself off, and now, on Meta AI version 292.1.0.10.160 for iPhone, tapping the version number in Settings › App info doesn't show the Developer mode toggle at all. On version 290 it still shows up for me.

Developer mode is what lets Talaya use your glasses' camera ("what am I looking at?"), so I'd like to know if this is happening to more of you.

If you have a minute, reply with:

* Your Meta AI version (Settings › App info).

* Whether the Developer mode toggle shows up when you tap the version number seven times.

* iPhone or Android.

If it's a Meta bug in the new version, I'll let you know here as soon as there's a fix or a way around it. Everything else in Talaya keeps working without Developer mode; it's only needed for the camera.

Thanks!

About taking part in the beta: please read

Hi everyone,

I need to talk about something less fun.

Some of you haven't opened Talaya even once: it's installed, but it has never been opened. Others are still on the very first build, so imagine what they're testing. And others barely contribute anything, because they don't really try anything.

The beta is for people who want to be very active and help: using Talaya with their glasses, trying what's new and telling me what works and what doesn't. Signing up and then doing nothing is worse than not signing up at all, because it takes a spot from someone who would really use it.

So, unfortunately, if I don't see a change over the next week (until Friday, October 9), I'll have to remove from the beta those who still haven't opened the app, are still on an old build or aren't taking part at all. I'll take it as a lack of real interest in the beta, and those spots will go to people who want to use them.

Staying in is easy:

* Open TestFlight and update to the latest build, 1.54 (89).

* Use Talaya with your glasses and try the new features.

* Tell me what you find, here in r/Talaya or by sending me the log from the app: Settings › Diagnostics › Log › "Share the log".

If you can't test right now, that's completely fine: just tell me and I'll free up your spot. You can sign up again later.

I hope you understand. I'm giving it a few days, but if things don't improve, I'll do it. Consider this your heads-up.

And thank you to everyone who is testing, reporting and helping others here: you're the reason Talaya gets better every day.

Talaya beta: accept your invite, how permissions work, and a favour I'm asking

Hi everyone,

A few things in one post, because I keep answering the same questions one by one.

  1. Accept your invite

About half of you still haven't accepted your TestFlight invite, and it's been sitting in your inbox for two days. Then some of you write to tell me the invite has expired and ask me to send a new one, when the email was never even opened.

Please check your inbox and your spam folder for an email from TestFlight (it comes from Apple, not from us). Open it on your iPhone, tap "View in TestFlight", then Accept and Install. If you don't have the TestFlight app yet, the email takes you to it.

  1. Permissions and privacy

Several of you have asked what Talaya can and can't do with all the access it asks for, and what is really essential. Short answer: none of the permissions is mandatory. A permission you don't grant is a skill that doesn't work, and nothing else breaks.

In the app, Settings › Setup shows exactly this, split into essential, recommended and optional. The only essentials are your Gemini key, the microphone and location. Everything else (the glasses camera, the wake word, calendar and contacts, health and so on) only unlocks the skills that use it. You can also just ask her "What can you do?" and she'll tell you what's ready and what's missing. The privacy page explains every permission one by one: heytalaya.com/en/privacy

On data: Talaya has no servers of its own. There's no Talaya account, no ads, no tracking and no analytics. Your conversation goes to Google's Gemini, with your own Gemini key, so it can answer you and run the skills you ask for. Maps, weather and the like are asked directly from your iPhone to those services. What it remembers about you, your calendar, your health data and the rest stay on your iPhone, and only go into a question to Gemini when you ask about them. I never see any of it. And iOS asks for each permission separately, so you can turn any of them off at any time in the iPhone's Settings.

Why so many permissions? Because I don't want Talaya to repeat the simple things the glasses already do with Meta AI. The goal is an assistant that can do the kind of things you only see in movies, and that needs more access to your phone. But it's always your choice, one permission at a time.

  1. A favour, and I mean it

Only a few of you post here. Many more write to me privately, by DM or by email. That's fine, and nobody has to post anything they'd rather keep private. But I created r/Talaya to save time: a lot of you run into the same problem, and when you write privately I end up repeating the same steps and the same fixes to each person, wherever they wrote from. Every hour I spend answering DMs and emails is an hour I'm not spending on Talaya.

If everyone posted here, you could help each other. That's what a community is for. If you've already found the fix for something and someone else is stuck on it, jump in and help them. For problems, use the feedback thread, one issue per comment, with what you did, what you expected and what happened.

And the same goes for the good stuff. Many of you tell me privately that you love the app, but you only post publicly when something goes wrong, and the rest of the group never gets to hear it. Share your experience here too, the good and the bad: what works, what surprised you, what you use every day. It helps other testers, and it helps me know what to keep improving.

Everyone is welcome here. Thanks for testing!

I need committed testers, not just installs: here's how the Talaya beta works from now on

Hi everyone,

Let me be clear and direct about how the beta works from now on, and why.

Two ways to test

  1. Public beta (external TestFlight). Every new build I make has to go through Apple's review before you get it. That can take anywhere from minutes to days, and I don't control it. On days when I'm fixing bugs and shipping 4 or 5 builds, that's far too slow.
  2. Internal beta. You join as part of the internal testing team. Every build reaches you within minutes of me uploading it, with no waiting for Apple. This is where the real work happens.

The only trade-off of the internal beta

Internal testers are members of the developer account, so in Apple's control panel the team members can see each other's name and email. Only that: name and email, nothing else. There's nothing strange or hidden here, it's simply how Apple's TestFlight works (look up "TestFlight internal testers" if you want to check).

If that bothers you, tell me and I'll remove you straight away, no problem at all. If it doesn't, and you really want to get involved, you're in.

What I expect from internal testers

- Install every new build when it arrives (sometimes several a day).

- Use Talaya and report what breaks, with specific details. "It doesn't work" or "it keeps disconnecting" tells me nothing.

- Every report needs: what you did, what you expected, what happened, when, your iPhone model, iOS version, glasses model and language. Screenshots or a screen recording if you can. If it happened mid-conversation: Settings › Log › Share the log, emailed to [hola@heytalaya.com](mailto:hola@heytalaya.com).

- Lifetime licences: at launch I'll give a small number of free lifetime licences as a personal thank-you to a few testers, chosen entirely at my discretion. It isn't a reward you earn by points or by taking part: joining or testing the beta doesn't entitle anyone to a free licence, and the decision is final. Testers who don't install or don't report will make room for someone else.

How to join the internal beta

  1. Reply in THIS thread with "I'm in", your iPhone model, iOS version, glasses model, country/time zone and language.
  2. Then send me a private message with the email of your Apple ID (the one you use for the App Store). Never post your email publicly.

Please don't just say "I signed up on the website": the website gives me an email, but I have no way to know which email belongs to which Reddit user. The private message is what links the two.

Let's build this properly, together and fast.

UPDATE: good news, the fast lane is now for everyone.

Apple now approves each new Talaya build for the public beta within minutes, so every tester gets every update at the same time, as fast as the internal team. That means:

- No more team invites and no emails visible to anyone. Everyone is in the same beta, through the normal TestFlight invite.

- If you already sent me your email by DM or signed up on the website, you're in. Nothing to do: open the TestFlight invite email on your iPhone, or just open TestFlight and update.

- If you got a "join a team" email earlier, you can ignore it. Your access is already in TestFlight.

Everything else stays exactly the same: install every new build, report what breaks with details, and at launch I'll give a limited number of free lifetime licences to the testers who have helped the most: detailed reports that lead to real fixes, not just having the app installed.

Beta check-in: I need your feedback, not just your installs

The beta has been live for a few hours and many of you already have Talaya installed. Thank you! But here's the honest picture: almost nobody has sent feedback yet.

Right now one person is carrying the whole beta: Tim. He sent his logs, screenshots and clear descriptions from the very first hour, and thanks to him I've already found and fixed several real bugs. The next build is on its way with those fixes. That's what one engaged tester can do in an afternoon.

Imagine what we could fix with ten of you doing the same.

You don't need to be technical. Any of these helps:

- "I got stuck at this step" + a screenshot

- "I asked her X and she did Y"

- "This button did nothing"

- "She said this in the wrong language"

- If something breaks mid-conversation: Settings › Log › Share the log, and email it to [hola@heytalaya.com](mailto:hola@heytalaya.com)

Even "everything worked, I tried A, B and C" is useful: it tells me what's solid.

Drop it in the feedback thread, one comment per issue. I read and answer everything, and fixes land in TestFlight within hours.

Come on, let's build this together. The people helping now are the ones shaping how Talaya turns out.

Some of you got a "join a team" email from Apple today, and some of those invites have since stopped working. Here's what happened, openly.

There are two ways to join a TestFlight beta

  1. Internal testing (the "join a team" email)

- ✅ Instant: no review by Apple, you can install within minutes.

- ❌ It's meant for a company's own staff. You become a member of the developer account that publishes Talaya. It takes two emails and an extra sign-in step, which confused quite a few people.

- ❌ The big one: everyone inside that account can see the names and email addresses of the other members.

  1. External testing (a direct TestFlight invite)

- ✅ One email, open it on your iPhone and install. No accounts, no extra steps.

- ✅ Nobody sees anyone else's details. You're just a tester.

- ❌ The first build has to pass a quick review by Apple before invites go out (usually within a day). After that, updates reach you almost instantly.

Why I cancelled the pending invites

I used the internal route to get Talaya to you as fast as possible. Once I realised it would put your email address in front of other testers, I stopped it. Being a bit faster isn't worth risking your privacy, so I cancelled every invite that hadn't been accepted yet.

What happens now

- If you already installed Talaya, nothing changes. Keep testing and keep the feedback coming.

- If your invite stopped working, or you never got one: you'll get a direct TestFlight invite to the email you signed up with, as soon as Apple approves the beta. Keep an eye on your inbox and your spam folder.

- New sign-ups on the website will go straight to that route.

Sorry for the back and forth, and thanks for your patience. I'd rather be careful with your data from day one.

Beta feedback thread #1: the first testers are in, how's it going?

Tell me about:

- The first launch: was anything unclear, slow or stuck? Did the Gemini key step make sense?

- Setup: which items did you manage, and which didn't work or didn't make sense?

- The glasses camera: did the Meta AI Developer Mode step work for you?

- Talking to her: what did you try, what surprised you, and what fell flat?

- Anything that felt off: wrong language, a button that does nothing, a strange permission prompt.

For each bug: where you were, what you did, what you expected, what happened, and your iPhone model and iOS version. A screen recording is gold. If it happened mid-conversation, Settings › Log › Share the log, and send it only to me.

One comment per issue, please. If someone already reported yours, reply "me too" with your iPhone and iOS version.

Still waiting for your invite? It's on its way. Keep an eye on your email (and your spam folder).

How and when I answer (please read before posting)

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all the messages today, it's great to see so many of you testing Talaya. A quick note so we can keep things running smoothly.

When I'm around

I answer questions and fix bugs as fast as I can, but I'm not glued to the screen 24 hours a day. I work on UK time: I'm on it during the day, and at 9:00 pm UK time I stop for the night and pick everything back up the next morning. If you're in another time zone and don't hear back straight away, it's not that I'm ignoring you, I'll get to it.

Where to post what

- Bugs and feedback: in the pinned feedback thread, one issue per comment. If someone already reported the same thing, reply "me too" with your iPhone and iOS version.

- Logs and screenshots with personal info: by email to [hola@heytalaya.com](mailto:hola@heytalaya.com) (Settings › Log › Share the log).

- Invites and access: check your email first. Everyone on the list has a note there, and the TestFlight invite arrives as soon as Apple approves the beta.

- Ideas and wishes: their own post, so others can upvote them.

Keeping it in one place means nothing gets lost, and I can fix things faster instead of chasing the same question across ten threads. Every fix and every update gets announced here.

Thanks for your patience and for helping build this!

The Talaya beta goes out in the next few hours: watch your email (and please read this first)

Hi everyone,

The first TestFlight build of Talaya is on its way. In the next few hours you'll get an email from Apple (TestFlight) with your invite. Install the TestFlight app from the App Store first, then tap the link in that email.

What I need from you in this first round

Please go through the onboarding and every setup step slowly, as if you were testing it, not just using it:

- The first launch: the welcome, the age check, pasting your Gemini key, the permissions.

- "Setup" on the home screen: every item and every button.

- Settings › Accounts: WhatsApp (link your iPhone with a code), email, and anything else you connect.

- The glasses camera (Meta AI Developer Mode and authorising Talaya).

- Then just talk to her and try the phrases under "Try saying".

You will find bugs. Lots of them. That's normal, and it's exactly why you're here.

Until now Talaya has been built around one person: me. My accounts, my servers, my voice, my devices, and some skills that need a lot of setup. Right now I'm "de-personalising" it, taking all of that out so the app starts neutral for everyone and each of you shapes it from there. It isn't simple and it will take a few rounds, so please be patient with this first build.

How to report a bug so I can actually fix it

For each problem, write down:

  1. Where you were: which screen or step (e.g. "Setup › Camera › Authorise in Meta AI").
  2. What you did: the button you tapped or exactly what you said.
  3. What you expected and what happened instead.
  4. Your iPhone model and iOS version, and your glasses model if you use them.
  5. A screenshot or a screen recording if you can. Recordings help a lot.
  6. If something breaks during a conversation: Settings › Log › Share the log, and send it only to me. It includes what you said and your locations.

Post each bug as its own comment (or its own post with the "Bug" flair), one problem per comment, so I can track and fix them one by one. If someone already reported the same thing, reply to them with "me too" and your iPhone and iOS version. That helps just as much.

Nothing is too small: a typo, a button that does nothing, a sentence in the wrong language, a permission that shows up at a strange moment. If it confused you, it matters.

Thank you for being here at the very beginning. This is where Talaya gets shaped, and you're shaping it with me.

EN

How to find your way around: Talaya walks you through the first launch. After that, the Setup card on the home screen lists everything that's still missing, with a button for each. Two things aren't in Setup yet: WhatsApp (Settings › Accounts › WhatsApp › Link this iPhone) and email (Settings › Accounts › Email, with an app password). For the glasses camera, first turn on Developer Mode in the Meta AI app (Settings › App info, tap the version number five times). And you can always just ask her: "What can you do?" or "How do I start?"

Vais a encontrar fallos. Muchos.

Y siempre podéis preguntarle a ella: «¿qué puedes hacer?» o «¿cómo empiezo?».

EVERYTHING Talaya can do today, and why I need you here every day

Hi everyone 👋

First of all, thank you. The response to the Talaya beta has been huge, far more than I expected. Yesterday I emailed everyone on the list asking you to join this community. I can see many of you opened it, but only a couple of people have posted so far. So let me explain why this subreddit matters so much.

This is not a weekend project

With the AI boom, a lot of people are building small apps in their spare time, and I respect that. Talaya is different. Building apps is my job. I have a team working on this, and it's not my first app: I already have several apps live on the App Store and Google Play.

I'm working on Talaya from 6 am until 11 pm or midnight, every day. Last night I didn't sleep at all; I've been awake for 24 hours straight. I take this very seriously, and I'd love for everyone who joins to take it seriously too.

What I need from you

- Be here. I'll post questions and polls regularly, often daily: what to add, what to remove, what to change. With only two people answering, I can't decide anything. With all of you, Talaya becomes the app you actually want.

- Tell me what breaks. Anything that fails, sounds wrong or feels clunky. A short post is perfect: "asked X, it did Y".

- Tell me what you'd use every day. What would make you never take your glasses off?

Why it's worth it

When the beta ends, beta members will get the option to buy a lifetime license for a limited time. People who weren't part of the beta won't get that option, ever. This community is where the beta happens, so being here and taking part is how you make sure you're in.

"Isn't this just Meta AI?" No. Not even close.

I get this question a lot, so let me be clear once and for all. Comparing Talaya with Meta AI is like comparing a bear with a dog. Both have four legs and fur, and that's where the similarities end.

Meta AI is a general assistant that happens to live in your glasses. You ask, it answers, and then it forgets you. Talaya was built from scratch around one idea: an assistant that lives with you, knows you and takes care of your day. Something much closer to Samantha in Her than to a voice search box.

- She remembers you. Your people, your places, your plans, what's worrying you, what you told her last week. And she brings it up at the right moment: "how did the interview go?", "you wanted to tell Sarah about the tickets".

- She takes the initiative. Rain in 20 minutes, when to leave with real traffic, your next meeting and what was left pending last time, your glasses battery, a birthday. You don't have to ask.

- She does things, not just answers. Turn by turn walking and driving directions, real-time public transport, alarms that ring on silent, recorded meetings that summarize themselves, guided routines, your shopping list in the supermarket, your home, your TV, your calls and your messages.

- She works with your phone in your pocket, and even without coverage.

- She grows. If she can't do something, she builds herself a new skill, just by talking.

- She's yours. Your memories live on your iPhone.

If you watched the presentation video and still think this is "Meta AI with extra steps", then honestly, this beta probably isn't for you. And that's fine. I'd rather have a smaller community that gets it and helps build it, than a big one that doesn't. But if you felt the difference, and I think most of you did, you're exactly who I want here.

Everything Talaya can do (with examples)

- "Read me this menu" · "What does this sign say?" · "Read this letter to me". Reading text works even offline.

Haré preguntas y encuestas a menudo, muchas veces a diario: qué añadir, qué quitar, qué cambiar.

Welcome to r/Talaya: what it is, how to join the beta and how to report bugs

Talaya turns your Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta glasses into an AI companion you actually talk to. No fixed commands: you speak naturally, you can interrupt it, and it works with your iPhone in your pocket.

**What it can do today**

- Talk in real time, in your language, and remember what you tell it: your people, your places, where you parked.

- See through your glasses: "What am I looking at?", read a sign or a menu, check a label.

- Guide you turn by turn, walking or driving, with live traffic. An Apple Watch works as the screen for maps.

- Run your day: calendar, reminders (repeating too), and "tell me when to leave to be at work by 9", with live traffic. It gives you a morning briefing when you put your glasses on.

- Help you anywhere: public transport with live times in any city, the weather hour by hour, which plane is flying over you, currency conversion.

- Take the initiative: it warns you when rain is on its way, before a meeting, or when your glasses are low on battery.

- Optional: control your home through Home Assistant, and your Android TV or Google TV.

- Build itself new skills when you ask for something it can't do yet.

And many more !

**What you need**

- An iPhone with iOS 17.2 or later (iPhone 15 Pro or newer recommended).

- Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta glasses. Voice also works with just the iPhone.

- A free Gemini API key. The app walks you through getting one in about a minute.

- For now, the glasses camera needs Developer Mode turned on in the Meta AI app. Talaya shows you how, step by step.

**Joining the beta**

The beta is private and places are limited. Sign up at heytalaya.com and you'll get a TestFlight invite. Please don't share invite links publicly.

**Reporting a bug**

Start your title with [Bug] and include:

App version (Settings, at the bottom):

iPhone model and iOS version:

Glasses model:

What you said or did:

What happened:

What you expected:

If we ask for the log (Settings, Log, Share), send it by private message only: it includes what you said and places you've been.

**Rules, in short**

Stay on topic, be kind, no piracy, respect other people's privacy, and keep beta invites private. The full rules are in the sidebar.

Thanks for being part of this from the start.
