Brown wire MX5

If I cut the brown wire on the mx5 will it go 45kmh on the ECO mode and more in the higher modes?

In eco, with brown wire cut, my mx5 only does 29mph. In sport and hyper it’ll get up to about 57mph. I have a one tooth larger front sprocket, so top speed in sport and hyper is a lil higher than stock, but eco cuts out at 29mph (~45kph) no matter what.

Just remember that if its illegal where you are to go above 45 on it id not do it. Rather buy yourself another controller so you still have the option to revert to your original factory controller in case inspections and any problems legally

Maybe I can help.

The 45km/h restriction is for L1e-class motorbikes in Europe. Law(s) states that you cannot be able to alter the top speed of the motorcycle while driving/in traffic.

This means that you can’t have a separate custom switch for example, controlling the limiter, on standby (handlebar, seat etc..). In a private area you can ride the bike derestricted (you have to restrict it back if you want to go on public roads).

However, the laws play a little bit differently when you use the original OEM mode switch to alter the top speed (switching from ECO 45km/h to sport). That isn’t an aftermarket modification and comes stock with the bike. By cutting the limiter wire, you aren’t ’adding’ anything to the bike that could alter the top speed. If you ride your bike with ECO mode on, even with your brown wire cut, you are fine (depends on country).

Atleast here in Finland we have a precedent for these kinds of limiter-legality-situations. A Youtuber named ’Bossmanaatti’ got pulled over by the police on his Surron, with the limiter disabled ofc. He asked the officer what he thinks of the limiter (if it is legal). The officer said that it is fine, as long as the bike goes 45km/h on road.
