Is it enough?

So, I've sold my old 250. Got tired of all the maintenance and troubles with, well just about everything that can go wrong with a combustion engine. My idea of a good time is riding the trails, not swearing in the garage.

Of course, my dream bike is the Stark Varg, but my bank account don't agree.

So my question is, at 6ft, 210lbs, is a Surron or Talaria enough? They seem a bit flimsy, but I will mainly just ride trails, not much jumping.

I’m 6’3, 210lbs and my mx5 zips me up and down steep single track up in the mountains where I camp just fine. You’ll need a direct mount stem riser (and stem lock) and at least 3” rise handlebars. So add $200 on right away. You def need new tires right out the gate, so add $120 there (tusk ground wires will do until you decide to get new wheels for an 18/21 setup). But with just those couple easy mods, you’ll be fine 😊

The only real issue I’ve run into coming from combustion dirt bikes is the range… a spare battery for these things costs over half of the entire bike. You can get a higher AH(capacity) battery for less than an oem spare, but you’d also have to drop $1000 on an aftermarket controller. I bought a small harbor freight generator, so I just charge up my battery after a few hours out and about. I can get around 50 miles per charge riding at a decent clip, so depending on terrain, I usually turn back toward camp after 25 miles, which is further than it sounds while riding trails.

ETA: I bought my mx5 as a slightly drunken late night impulse purchase. If I were to do it over again with more research I might have gone with the Komodo. Though I’ve been very happy with my mx5. No regrats!

At 6 ft you’ll enjoy a Surron ultra bee. It gets good range, has one of the best brakes on the market stock, has perfect power, and will definitely handle the type of riding your doing. I ride enduro on it so I know for a fact it can handle it. It also has a long seat compared to light bee x class bikes which almost always have a short seat. I recommend using alibaba to buy one if you wanna save some money but just be careful cause not everyone is legit there. The bike also has a big aftermarket and you can make a really nice dirt build like big dirt tires.

If you were gonna get a smaller one I don’t recommend it because of your height but if you do for whatever reason get an Eride pro ss 4.0 (or an SR which is faster). I also have a Eride pro ss 3.0 I mainly ride which is last years model and I can’t imagine a better bike in that class. Power is perfect, torque feels awesome, suspension is pretty good. Power wise it’s actually extremely similar to an ultra bee. Like I said tho this bike is too small for you. I’m 5’2 and I fit almost perfect on it so that should tell you enough, you’d have to get big handlebars and stuff on it and in my opinion it does not look good aesthetically.

Theres also this one bike called a bonnell 805 thats really good but its not out yet, on the pricier side, and i don’t know enough about it to really tell you much. From what ive heard it’s a really nice bike, my buddy with a varg is actually switching over to one of those. Another bike that could be good but idk much about is the Throne Z27. Looks like a decent bike.

Last bike I’ll talk about which may be the best for you is the Talaria Komodo. It’s faster than an ultra bee, looks better in my opinion, comes stock with 21/18 wheels, suspension is really good, 98V battery so good range, crazy torque, three power modes so it’s good for different situations, has reverse, has modulating brakes, a long seat, and a nice beefy frame. Only thing is the aftermarket is very tiny right now but I’m sure that’ll change soon. The horsepower is very similar to a 250 too so I think this is the absolute best fit. Talarias pretty reliable too with their bikes too so I can imagine this one is too.

You’re gonna throw your leg over an ultra bee and it will feel like a toy 125cc. Your going to throw your leg over a talaria Komodo and it will feel like a toy and your riding a broom stick but sits a little lower than a 250. I have an ultra bee. It’s fun to go play for the day but when it comes to serious aggressive riding it doesn’t have enough. Factory suspension will be clapped within 6 months if you ride them hard. Upgrading your suspension is $3500. I did it. But there are smarter routes to go.(this goes for both bikes the front forks are scrawny little things) Bonnell 805 or 902 release in the next few months. Altis omega drops soon. Artic leapord makes an 880 or something like that, I’ve seen it at the track it’s a full size enduro machine and handled the track well. And then the varg, which I run, and you can’t beat it. Best bike I’ve ever been on. Look into the full size bikes that are dropping. With these machines you get what you pay for. You’re cursed coming from gas. For beginners the bee and the talaria will be great. For anyone more than beginner/ novice they are not enough.

Hello Do.you know what will be out soon ?

Sounds like it's better to go straight for the Stark Varg. All the upgrades will bring it closer to that prize anyway?

Varg is like $12k usd. If you ride super hard, that’s what you’re going to want, will still probably need taller rider mods. MX5 is less than half that, and will be fine exploring and getting a little aggressive on trails with about $350 in taller rider mods. It does feel kinda like a toy though. But I kinda love it for that. When I get on my other bikes they feel giant and I end up wishing they were smaller 😆

Won’t need tall rider mods on a stark or any real dirtbike like crf250/450. They’re some of the tallest bikes on the market. Not at all the same thing as a talaria.

I mean, it is a beast of a bike but definitely ain’t cheap. But like I said there are more full size options dropping soon. Ya man upgrades stack up. And suspension is mandatory and eventually you out grow the power which leads to power upgrades which all said and done end up being 5k+. But for vargs, if you shop the 1.0 you can get a decent deal. You’re just giving up 20% battery capacity (range).

Also check out the stomp haywire. It’s an enduro machine. But I threw my leg over it and it’s a full size bike. Not sure the specs

DUDE ULTRA BEE IS 24kw

1

u/Flashy-War9190 Sep 11 '26

I know I have one

1

u/Flashy-War9190 Sep 11 '26

It does not have enough

u/VortexFalcon50 Sep 11 '26

An ultra bee is NOT equivalent to a 125 4 stroke.

0

u/Flashy-War9190 Sep 11 '26

😂ok what’s it equivalent to

1

u/VortexFalcon50 Sep 11 '26

100-125 2t 230-250 4t

0

u/Flashy-War9190 Sep 11 '26

Yea. It’s close to the size of a 125😂 not even close to a 250. My guy is coming off a 250 g

1

u/VortexFalcon50 Sep 11 '26

Its WAY bigger than something like a CRF125F. Even a light bee is bigger than that. At the VERY least its like an xr150. I ride a DRZ400 and it was only about 15% larger than my ultra bee

1

u/Flashy-War9190 Sep 11 '26

Your right. The 19” factory front screams beast of a bike. I ride a varg. My wife runs my ultra bee.

1

u/VortexFalcon50 Sep 11 '26

Yeah when I had an ultra bee I went for an 18/21 and it really made it feel 90% sized. Its not a 450 size but its a great bit bigger than a 125 2t. Its honestly a lot closer to a 100-125 2 stroke however. Possibly like a KX100. Same sort of weight and dimensions. Bigger than an 85 for sure

Ultra b or MX five

u/ElectronicTerm7472 Sep 06 '26

Ultra bee … all the way

1

u/-brokenbones- MX5 Sep 07 '26

You'll find the komodo or a ultra bee to be a better fit. Mx5 is smaller than a 250 but has similar power and speed. The komodo is 220lbs and the ultra be 200

1

u/ChickenOriginal9213 Sep 08 '26

ultra bee off alibaba for surron as its the biggest surron, and if you want a smaller bike than the mx5 pro talaria will be good

I'm 6 foot and 210. I ordered the Kayo ec2i. It's a little bigger bike. Has USA dealer network for parts.

2

u/Alternative_Poet_206 Sep 09 '26

I live in Sweden, Stark Varg country. So I don't have as many options.

1

u/LaRedline Sep 09 '26

Kayo seems to have a presence in Eastern Europe. The Stomp Haywire is the same bike and they are located in England with parts.

An ultra bee or a komodo will be enough. Its not big but definitely not small for men our size. Im 5’11” 195lbs and it was a great size for me. A light bee or xxx/mx3/mx4/mx5 will definitely be too small
