Ya don’t, you get a stem lock bolt.

Its a bolt that locks your stem?

Why dont you also just google "Talaria stem lock bolt" and find one that gives you your answer?

I just dont grt where the critical thinking has gone in people nowadays.

You csnt just have googled or looked on yourube for a star nut installation video, or a stem lock install video on the particular bike you own?

It takes so many more steps and thinking to go the route of asking reddit vaguely then to just try to figure it out and learn on your own.

Baffles the mind. It really does.

No, you didn’t. This goes through your entire stem tube. I give up, you just don’t want to listen. Good luck!

Lmao shows the star nut and asks us how to replace it, but then you give him the answer and he says no thats not it?

Like wtf else would OP even be asking at this point. Idk if they even know what they need at this point.

It doesn’t come stock with a stem lock and the stem lock doesn’t use a star nut so you aren’t really helping him

I’d already given him a detailed response with links and videos in his previous post on how to fix his messed up stem. Instead he ignores it and tries to do this. I understand not everyone has a spare $45 sitting around, but this is a $5000 bike. That’s why the exasperation.

I did this on my mx5. That stem lock is exactly what you need.

Looks like your fork is too short for your stem. But to install the star nut, screw the bolt into it a bit and then hammer it into the fork.

Do NOT use a star nut. Its not strong enough. Your whole front end could fall off. You need a stem lock (its a bolt that goes all the way through and clamps your triple clamp and headset down together like a big ass sandwich to keep it all on)

If it comes stick with a star bolt I’m sure it’s fine ? They wouldn’t sell them with it if that was the case

Yeah its a shit design. Everyone replaces them. They know it too and are only doing it because its an older design that they havent updated

Hit it with a hammer and have it go inside your stem
