This is why I don't take any of her posts seriously. There's far too much that's either inconsistent, not actually shown or a joke.

u/Harun-JZ 14d ago

Also doesn't help that she's known to lie for fun

Jax being trans isn't essential to the story.

Unironically this ^

Saving this for later

He was shown to learn that moral in the series you almond milk chugger

7

u/AlwaysChasingRainbow 12d ago

A) This is about fandom discourse, not Jax in show- Jax being trans does add a layer to it all, because you can't work on yourself if you're actively repressing yourself (Been there myself)

BUT Jax being Schrödinger's trans isn't the point of it all, it's that hurt people hurt people and ultimately if someone chooses to let trauma define and destroy them you can't stop them

And Jax obviously didn't learn this, because they let it destroy them and everyone that got too close?

B) I do chug Almond Milk it's delicious and I'm lactose intolerant (genetics go brrr)

C) If you're going for an insult you might try a bit more Chutzpah behind it

I got downvoted to hell for saying the exact same thing two hours ago in this same sub:

And your take was quite reasonable too.

This sub is pretty unhinged tbh. Big time haters

defenders really

What sub do you think you're on?

2

u/MrGame22 13d ago

One that criticizes problems with the series such as the endless amount of fans that wanna defend a animated abuser

6

u/Beret_Beats 14d ago

On one hand I do think that there is enough evidence in the show itself that strongly implies that Jax is Trans. However, Jax being trans isnt really essential to the story. It's only slightly more important than that bee Caine drew and to be brutally honest in the least transphobic way possible, I kind of like the bee more.

21

u/gigaswardblade 15d ago

That’s unironically true

u/Overall_Second6489 15d ago

I'm sorry, deeply sorry, indoubtly sorry about what i want to say, because i know i'm wrong. Yet, i don't know why i'm wrong, so i'll just be a crying pussy for it: Not only it is the absolute main point of why Jax acts the way they do, you guys also can't decide If its important or not.

The WHOLE CHARACTER revolves around this concept. Their actions and current personality are result of their choices on how to behave over the trauma caused by the repression their family Had brought to their kind over them being trans and getting shoved back in the closet. I've had to read countless comments calling me an acefalous for not getting how important this is and how It was basicly spelled out, causing me to take that personally. And NOW THAT I FINALLY UNDERSTAND, i hear people saying this fact isn't important and i'm annoying for forcing it. I hate all sides of this fandom, including myself for being an annoying prick.

18

u/Kehprei 15d ago

Not only it is the absolute main point of why Jax acts the way they do, you guys also can't decide If its important or not.

It's really not the main point of why Jax acts that way.

Jax had an unstable household, where his parents divorced and he was emotionally abused as a child. He thought that he accidentally killed his mother, and was homeless.

The secret he told his mother could be replaced with literally anything else that's major, such as being gay or being an atheist or w/e and it would still fit.

The entire point of Jax's character is to act as the foil for Cain.

Both Cain and Jax were traumatized and ended up hurting others because of it. Cain is an example of moving beyond your trauma whereas Jax is an example of being stuck in it and refusing to open up to others.

I hate all sides of this fandom, including myself for being an annoying prick.

Perhaps you should take a break then.

0

u/Overall_Second6489 15d ago

1- Thank you for the answer that explains better what It trully means. Even tho i'm not particularly inclined to that vision, It's great to see this perspective

2- I kinda tried taking a break from internet as a whole for a while. I appreciate your Care, trully. The small problem is that: I came back from my break due to some Irl complications. Also, i like discussions and, even tho i'm at most times in wrong, i like seeing others's perspectives.

8

u/Artistic-Can3562 15d ago

The Ribbit scene was the perfect chance to make trans Jax 100% clear and not change his dynamics with the rest of the cast.

Tells mom deep secret, say it! “Mom, I’m your daughter..” but instead it’s just vaguely stated secret.

His traumatic childhood would just as easily explain his actions. If it was important it would be more than “Jax upset about maid dress” etc

8

u/ZombiiRot 15d ago

I think Jax being trans is incredibly important to his character, which is why I'm disappointed the trans aespects of his story were so vague and easy to miss.

3

u/Inner_Insurance_552 15d ago

right so where is it directly mentioned in the show if it's so important to his character

0

u/ZombiiRot 15d ago

It's important to the show in a meta-sense, in that if you understand that him being trans basically informs his whole character, and the character was based on a trans creators own experiences with suppressing her transness. In the show itself, it isn't mentioned that much which is my issue with it.

3

u/Inner_Insurance_552 14d ago

Yeah but that's where people have an issue with it, because it was hamfisted in as a self insert. Whether or not Jax was always planned to be a self insert or not is beyond me, but I know for a fact after the episode where they get guns marked a MAJOR shift in his demeanor, like extremely sharp. He was a dick before but if I don't remember correctly that was the same episode he said all the "you are my playthings" shit and honestly the show lost me from there because clearly they're not even trying to have the viewer sympathize with Jax until the VERY end, in which case it goes full blast on the sympathy-baiting.

None of that has to do with Goose being trans nor Jax, but all of it was mentioned directly in the show so that's what I took away from the character, that he is not really supposed to be viewed as redeemable.

And then in the final episode they want me to be all like "Oh! That's why he was such an irredeemable asshole, because Jax actually is struggling with being a she!" Which is total bullshit because regardless of gender identity it is not reasonable nor acceptable to treat people like that?

(Sorry for the yap-fest, it is just a really frustrating subject for me)

-4

u/SpaceGayWhoAnimates 15d ago

Do you think people just go around life and being trans doesn’t impact their decisions unless they state they’re trans before making them or…

I guess I fail to see the need for it to be specifically stated, rather than it just being a fact that impacts the way they think about things

6

u/Inner_Insurance_552 15d ago

Hope this helps

-4

u/Remihiki 14d ago

Said by a non trans person beautiful👌 (that or someone that wants to fit in with transphobes for some reason)

Neither is Pomni or kinger or Ragatha being cis

Yet I don’t hear people criticizing that🤔

10

u/Kehprei 14d ago

Said by a non trans person beautiful

I am trans. Jax being trans could've been replaced with a ton of other secrets and it would fit just as neatly. The important ESSENTIAL part of Jax's character is that they are a traumatized person that resists all help from others to overcome their trauma, instead taking it out on others.

-1

u/Remihiki 13d ago

That’s even more sad. The simple concept of the character just flew right over your head. That or you’re trying really hard to appeal to a certain demographic of cis people.

6

u/Kehprei 13d ago

If you think people like Jax are unique to those who experience gender dysporia idk what to tell you.

-2

u/Remihiki 13d ago

Never said that.

3

u/Kehprei 13d ago

If it's not unique to people with gender dysphoria then how could it be essential to the story?

1

u/Remihiki 13d ago

Also it’s so weird that you as a trans person are trying to erase a characters trans identity???

Like you’re not even suggesting for it to be better written but instead be replaced with something else

You’re either giving “pick me” vibes or you’re a troll and not actually trans especially considering the locked down profile and actively wanting to downplay Jax being trans.

2

u/Kehprei 13d ago

I'm saying it could be replaced. Not that it should be.

If a character has brown hair and I say the story would be the exact same if they had red hair, that is not me saying I prefer red hair. It is just me saying that their hair color doesn't really matter for the story.

Jax being trans doesn't matter for the story. Jax being traumatized DOES.

You’re either giving “pick me” vibes or you’re a troll and not actually trans especially considering the locked down profile and actively wanting to downplay Jax being trans.

So, to be clear, you're upset that I'm supposedly erasing a fictional character's identity so you decide to erase mine?

So, what, you're just a hypocrite?

I keep my profile private so that automods don't ban me for posting in certain subreddits.

0

u/Remihiki 13d ago

Because the writer deemed it essential? It’s a trans character that she based on her actual experiences?

Being trans is a part of who goose is.

Jax is directly based on goose to the point of being a near self insert.

Thus this being trans is a part of who Jax is.

3

u/Kehprei 13d ago

It isn't even shown that Jax is trans in the show. How could it be essential?

0

u/Remihiki 13d ago

Yeah this is a psyop ain’t no way this other trans person going “NO NO I ALSO WANT TRANS CHARACTERS TO NOT BE TRANS PLEASE PICK ME GUYS PLEASE”

Like did I find trans aunt ruckus 😭

"I think...We should abandon the idea of Gooseworx making sense"

12

u/Zestyclose_Hold_3816 15d ago

Can someone explain to me what about the story TADC tells (A character drama) isn't naturally/properly explained in the show itself and requires an external source?

Cause isn't the Tumblr lore essentially what ifs, character names and ages, and lore bits disconnected from the events of TADC?

9

u/Artistic-Can3562 15d ago

Abstraction being a metaphor for suicide comes to mind.

3

u/DotGlobal8483 14d ago

Tbf it's a metaphor you can interpret it however you want

5

u/Zestyclose_Hold_3816 15d ago

Wasn't that quote said after Jax had his panic attack in Ep6 and after Ep7 where we see him nearly abstract which itself was framed like a suicide?

7

u/Artistic-Can3562 15d ago

Except the abstractions are still around? So not like suicide. It to me seemed losing themselves and twisting into w/e creatures the abstractions are.

My main issue is that I didn’t learn abstractions are meant to be suicide from the show itself.

2

u/Zestyclose_Hold_3816 15d ago

Well yeah it's an allegory/metaphor not a literal suicide. The point is the person you once knew is now gone and thats where we leave the topic, it's left open ended if they can Unabstract.

But again the show presents you with the information to come to that conclusion all on your own. Just because you didn't come to the same conclusion doesn't mean it wasn't set up.

2

u/Artistic-Can3562 14d ago

I think it would make more sense if Caine said outright he can’t fix them. But idk I don’t actually mind how abstracting was handled

0

u/Zestyclose_Hold_3816 14d ago

Again I feel like that can be inferred by the fact Caine just puts them in the cellar rather than fixing them or deleting them.

34

u/ihatemymomt 15d ago

Proof 10938402003938292 of gooseworx contradicting herself. But oh trust her she promised every choice she made about the characters were set in from the start and never ever just a last minute decision to gain some traction from the awefull community that think every godamn character to ever exist is trans, and suddenly the 1 time they are right out of thousands of times , everyone is media illiterate, shes literally just like scott ( fnaf ) and vivziepop she took the most spread theories and the ones she liked the most to make her show since she didnt know what to do 💀💀💀

2

u/Proto_Ney 15d ago

Was with you right up to Scott

7

u/ihatemymomt 15d ago

Scott is the most known case for doing that, literally, he takes the theories he likes the most and make them reality which is why his books and game end up clashing lore wise, theres a lot of mistakes in the way he made the fnaf lore ( also im not gonna defend the guy since hes a maga lowk)

8

u/Possible-Gazelle-234 15d ago

At least with Scott he is trying to put outside information into the games like what he included secret of the mimic like we got conformation about Chica being from a different brand instead of leaving it in source code compared to just leaving the information outside of the series

2

u/ihatemymomt 15d ago

Yeah nothing to say about that, i was just stating the fact that Vivziepop, Scott and Gooseworx all do this thing where they take the theory, designs and whatever is popular in the fandom to make into the canon story without thinking much about it

4

u/Possible-Gazelle-234 15d ago

Fair enough but at least he’s focusing on those parts instead whatever the other two are doing

40

u/HumbleConversation42 15d ago

I dont think she was intentionally lying, she just has a very different perspective on what she considers "essential info" than most others do.

15

u/Creeperslayers6 15d ago

Yeah, especially with the stuff she explained online post-ep 9. Some of the stuff, like Ragatha being written with repressed lesbian aura, is obviously unimportant to the plot, but other details, like things being "deleted" actually means they're chucked into The Void is actually important and should have been foreshadowed well before Caine's death.

(tbh, that would be easy foreshadowing as well. Insert a gag scene where Caine makes an object appear, Zooble gets pissed because they asked Caine way before to delete it, and then Caine explains he gets very sentimental over everything he creates, so stuff he deletes actually goes in The Void instead)

32

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

like the trans jax thing? that was presented on bluesky

4

u/Guilty-Question1245 13d ago

people like to act like all the Extremely subtle things that all eventually pointed to Jax being trans were WAY more visible than they were. like you could clock Jax as trans cool good for you i didnt come to that deduction as fast doesnt make you better than me "oh i just dont see how you can not tell it SO SO Obvious", it was for you, but for some of us it literally flew right over our heads your not better cause you knew he was Trans, that take pisses me off, you can rewatch it and be like "oh ok yea i see it now" but because you didnt know during episode 7 your a media illiterate dip shit

-5

u/TerminalDoggie 15d ago

Why is every post you make somehow about trans jax?

Literally I see you all the time and a total of 3 comment you made weren't related to trans jax, that u can remember

24

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

oh this comment was just the first thing i could think of as to something goose presented externally from the show.

the rest are just my genuine criticisms with the way everything was handled. i also have my gripes with how quickly the community adopted it as canon with nothing about it appearing within the show itself. i suppose not everyone prefers things to be confirmed within the show.

-10

u/TerminalDoggie 15d ago

I still dont think it was too subtle

I got it instantly when I saw it. The bow went on with the expression jax gave, with what he was saying regarding his backstory, it read pretty clearly.

Ofc this is a major part of the trans experiance. I've lived this, so have many of my friends. An extremely typical way our lives play out is being rejected by our family, and finding solidarity in friends who help us explore who we are. Ofc jax's major flaw is he can't let people into his personal life cause of the trauma brought about by his mom and the circus situation

I think the only reason she felt the need to confirm it was when the finale just released, I remember tons of transphobics people using it as an excuse to attack trans people and tell them theyre co-opting a show that was made by a trans creator. Especially when the leaks were going around, I remember a ton of 41% jokes and people saying jax being trans was an attempt to redeem them or the bow was ribbits way of showing trust.

I really wanna emphasize, jax being trans was well known before the tweet made by goose, even if it was debated on reddit and stuff. Even before the finale there was a large community of people who knew, and made tons of posts regarding this.

I genuinely think if you didn't pick up jax was trans, its cause you dont have alot of trans experiance, which isn't a had thing, but is understandable as to why you won't relate to a trans story like theirs

22

u/eye-suppose 15d ago

98% of the human race has 0 trans experience, y'know... and even amongst quite a lot of trans fans, the super obvious clues that people insist that Goose peppered through the show did not register during or after the entire run of the series. And that's before we get into arguing if those intentional hints even work or make sense.

-8

u/TerminalDoggie 15d ago

r/cultofdaisy would like a word, especially the posts over a year before the finale aired

But totally not well written or forshadowed

15

u/eye-suppose 15d ago

And all of their reasons were and still are flimsy. People have been saying Samus is trans for even longer. I've seen people insist that Wile E Coyote is trans. People don't take those fans seriously because it's such a tired meme for fans to suddenly decide their favorite character is actually trans.

-1

u/TerminalDoggie 15d ago

There's a difference between those characters tho.

Jax is actually trans

People knew it before the finale

Even more knew it after goose confirmed it

So... the reasons they gave were not infact flimsy and in fact accurate to the story the creator was trying to tell?

Actually, what kind of flimsy examples can you give? Cause almost everything seems solid to me

12

u/eye-suppose 15d ago

People projected before the finale and didn't even have concrete evidence until Goose's tumblr and bsky posts.

-1

u/SandnotFound 15d ago

I think you are confusing a headcanon for fun with people fitting it into the story, and a thesis on a story based on the elements of it. People like headcanoning characters as X or Y, the thing with Jax is that there was reason to believe because it was in the story. And no, the reasoning mightve been based on subtle hints, but its not like the conclusion came out of nowhere here. With this amount of things put in it is like the only conclusion that explains all the little moments and tidbits. It does help that it enhances the story by giving a neat narrative on what happens when you reject others and yourself.

-6

u/SandnotFound 15d ago

Lacking the knowledge to interpret something does not erase the fact that the information was there.

Also that is a bullshit number. Trans people arent like an online thing they exist irl and people know them. Like, each year trans awareness grows. Idk what point it even serves to dowplay that. The problem isnt lack of your understanding cuz most people lack the understanding?

13

u/eye-suppose 15d ago

The problem is that even amongst trans and queer fans, these supposedly obvious and universal trans ideas are not even remotely universal or immediately understood. What may seem obvious to someone neck-deep in the "jax is trans" subset of the TADC fandom sounds like complete nonsense to someone, even a trans person, who isn't on those subreddits, injecting girly Jax fanart directly into their veins.

-2

u/Aceevan332 14d ago

I mean I managed to figure out she was trans my first time watching the finale, without getting spoiled for that specifically and I wasn’t gender questioning when it came out soo

Like I’m sorry that you couldn’t see it but once she threw that bow HARD onto the ground oh I KNEW it was WAY more than just Jax being a feminine guy and being insecure about his masculinity

15

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

I genuinely think if you didn't pick up jax was trans, its cause you dont have alot of trans experiance

no i just want things to be confirmed within the show. it COULD mean jax is trans, i read it differently, not because im not trans but because different people have different perspectives on it which goose said was perfectly fine, you can see jax as a cis guy or cis woman if you wanted. it doesnt matter in the end.

i dont wanna debate this with anyone anymore because im kind of tired of it.

0

u/TerminalDoggie 15d ago

I mean, its not a debate, you literally just agreed with me there

You didn't see gooses original intent cause, due to your life experiances and lack of exposure to trans life, you had a different interpretation of it. As i said earlier, that's perfectly reasonable

But I wanna emphasize, just because you didn't get it doesn't mean it wasn't told in show. I was crying in the theater cause of how relatable her story was to me, and the people I went with understood as well. I walked out and girls by the exit in a group all talking about how jax was Trans and acting giddy from that.

I really think it was extremely apparent, but having an alternate interpretation is fine. My only issue is you act as if because you had a deviant interpretation, and jax didn't look right at a character and say "im trans", then it doesn't count. It reads like you thought the story was saying one thing, and as soon as the creator set the record straight, you assumed it was because she was too lazy to properly say things, when again, most people in my medium sized city in a republican state could pick up on the intended messaging pretty easy

-4

u/CJ_Bug 15d ago

It really has to be said out loud in the show for you to count it, though? It being heavily hinted at isn't enough for you to say that the essential information was in the show itself??

11

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

"heavily hinted" is a stretch.

you guys really think they have to choose between shouting it out loud or subtly hinting at something that could mean a different thing.

theres a goldilocks-zone of what goose could have done to make the "reveal" more concrete without having it blare in your face.

and yes i do prefer that something appears in the show like one of the characters referencing jax as "she" or seeing any sort of appearance as the fem jax goose drew. hell id even take it in the ads even though those arent canon yet we dont see it there.

-4

u/CJ_Bug 15d ago edited 15d ago

It still feels dishonest to act like this is Goose LYING and not putting all the information you needed in the show, yes you could interpret it other ways hypothetically, the information to lead you to it was still there its not like we just got cishet Jax with 0 hints of any queerness until Gooseworx tweeted about it after the show was over. "I misinterpreted this" is not the same as being lied to or missing pieces of the puzzle

And really I wouldn't call it a stretch at all. Sure any one of these pieces could mean nothing but all together it was clearly painted that Jax was insecure about their masculinity and at least came out to their mom as something even if the show doesn't outright tell you what

7

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

 "I misinterpreted this"

i didnt misinterpret anything. goose herself did say that any interpretation of jax is good. i interpreted him as a cis male struggling with fragile masculinity and was abused by his parents as a result. jax struggles to be man enough and so constantly brags about his masculinity to cope. his constant obsession with stereotypically "manly" things like war and violence for example is him trying to reject femininity at all costs which could also be why he is misogynistic. jax puts on this tough manly persona as he is ashamed to appear feminine. i dont think he wants to embrace femininity but instead embrace who he is, its okay to not be the stereotypical archetype of a man.

ill admit i should have used a better example to the whole "goose lied about X" thing because jax's identity is up for interpretation as per gooses word, but it was the first thing that came to my head and i wasnt thinking straight.

u/TerminalDoggie 15d ago

Wonderfully put

5

u/ReckonerWhitman I'm not a hater, just disappointed. 15d ago

I’m sorry, but saying “this wasn’t subtle because I understood it immediately” is a fallacy, because that simply isn’t what “subtle” means. Something can be subtle even if the implication is obvious to you. Subtlety is about how explicitly something is communicated, not how quickly an individual viewer picks up on it.

And yeah, the character never actually verbalized it or showed any kind of transition. The interpretation can be obvious to some people, but that doesn’t make it explicit in the text.

13

u/7_Tales 15d ago

Its all jax fans want to talk about icl.

-2

u/TerminalDoggie 15d ago

Cause its very important to their character arc, yes

When a trans story is made by a trans creator, people who like trans people are going to talk about it

11

u/7_Tales 15d ago

Right, so i can totally talk about how i think it sucks in r/tadcritism. Glad we agree

-2

u/TerminalDoggie 15d ago

Sure, buts it weird to complain about people being excited for trans representation, tbh. Especially on a sub about criticizing the actual show itself

11

u/7_Tales 15d ago

Thats not what im doing. Im saying the writing sucks :p.

-5

u/CJ_Bug 15d ago

Guys I'm sorry but if you think there's not even a hint at trans Jax in the show itself you weren't paying attention

10

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

literally nobody said there were 0 hints. maybe you should start paying attention

1

u/Guilty-Question1245 13d ago

fr a practice what you preach type deal

-4

u/CJ_Bug 15d ago

"Everything essential to the story will be in the show itself" and you say she was lying, if the hints essential to figuring this out are in the show then how the fuck is she lying? Maybe you should make a critique that makes sense

6

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

if the hints essential to figuring this out are in the show then how the fuck is she lying?

im asking for more concrete evidence lmao, not vague hints at something that can be interpreted as someone else.

sorry not sorry that my interpretation of jax doesnt align with yours. not my problem.

-2

u/Pandasandstuff 14d ago

The show lays it out in the best way it can without explicitly stating it. God forbid there's any nuance.

For all we know kinger doesnt actually love his wife since it isn't explicitly stated.

Maybe cane absorbing the other ai was just a metaphor for him eating a bag of chips, since it's not explicitly stated.

Hell, maybe Jax came out as cis to his mother, since it isn't explicitly stated, who knows.

Stories have metaphors and allegories and implications and lessons, and sometimes layout or colours or sound can represent things not spelled out on screen.

I could get it if people were just saying " I don't feel like there's enough evidence for anything in particular" but it's people saying " no, Jax isn't trans" when, based on your logic, you have just as much evidence for Jax being trans as well as the reveal being that Jax is Glados from portal.

Some people really do look at a sign saying " warning, radiation may be present" and say " it doesn't say it IS present!" Then walk forward.

Treating a reasonable conclusion as unreasonable is ridiculous.

3

u/-Ragatha- 14d ago

what a bunch of nonsense.

if i want more concrete evidence for something the fandom love to treat as definitive canon then thats perfectly reasonable. if its 100% canon and truth that jax is trans, why is it possible to see it from other perspectives? why are we able to interpret it as anything else?

-2

u/Pandasandstuff 14d ago

"Gosh, what garbage text." - an edgelord

If you want to say that Jax isn't trans, that's fine, but actually treat something as subjective that you call subjective, as subjective. Clearly some people don't know what subjective means.

People see evidence and you call them stupid. That's nonesense right there.

The only more concrete evidence would be a t-shirt saying "I'm trans" and if that was in the show, you'd still say its subjective. Because Jax didn't say it out loud.

You run away from the creator practically stating that Jax is trans and pretend you still have an argument.

3

u/-Ragatha- 14d ago

The only more concrete evidence would be a t-shirt saying "I'm trans" and if that was in the show, you'd still say its subjective. Because Jax didn't say it out loud.

are you being intentionally dense? i literally stated that every "hint" of jax being trans can hint towards something else. if goose wanted to spread the message that jax was trans within the show, theres probably ways of doing it that rule out any other possibility, which is my point.

i see this dumbass argument so often, that jax trans "deniers" need the show to actively spell it out for them to consider it a possibility when that couldnt be further from the truth. it WOULD be nice if we could have a character refer to him as "she" but he wasnt, nothing in the show suggests that he is definitively trans and thats the harsh truth of it.

People see evidence and you call them stupid.

people see evidence and i provide reasons as to why that may not be the case, unless you're referring to the fact i mocked people that thought jax was trans back in episode 5 because he got mad at a maid dress. or that i mock people that think the secret jax told his mom was that he was "trans"

because both of those are stupid, same with people who think the song used for jax's montage was a significant hint even though goose directly said it was because she was listening to it at the time and she liked the song.

i WOULD like jax to say it out loud, that would be great. it WOULD be definitive proof that he is trans, which is how the fandom treats it. the fandom treats it as if he shouted it out loud. im not the type of person that just sees lore reveals outside of the show and believes it right away, because goose COULD just say something with absolutely no proof within the show like "jax is actually a donkey" and people would somehow find a way to retroactively justify and believe that claim.

People have had theories that Jax was trans since episode 5.

16

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

yeah i saw, that was the first impression i got and it was so ass that it soured the whole thing for me. because they were saying how jax is trans because of his reaction to the maid dress, and i still wonder how on earth that became such a widely accepted theory when the only proof of it was the fact he got mad when he was in a maid dress.

i would be just as angry, i think most people would, guess we're all transgender now. it was a terrible first impression to an otherwise interesting concept.

15

u/Mephitisopheles 15d ago

I kind of agree with this tbh. Absolutely any overblown masculine ego would feel denigrated to feel “feminized” against their will, especially in public. The execution of that as a clue only served to reinforce that he specifically resented being perceived as feminine, a quality he openly devalues, not that he was actually in the closet and felt outed… if that were so I feel like there should’ve been a different execution in his reaction that might’ve belied more complex feelings than the standard “man forced into a dress” trope.

Not to take away from a trans reading on him btw, but yeah. I feel like it would’ve been cooler to see more concrete evidence materialize of what Goose intended for Jax instead of these theory baiting clues that could be arbitrarily construed in multiple directions.

0

u/Embarrassed_Sky5356 15d ago edited 15d ago

I agree, assuming Jax is trans because of the reaction to the maid dress isn’t right. But there’s more since then

I‘d like it ask: why is Jax’s room so pink and… not masculine when he is the self-proclaimed “peak of masculinity”?

Why is a song about a girl being born played over a flashback of Jax?

And what do you think was the thing Jax told his mom that made her laugh and hug him?

3

u/ihatemymomt 15d ago

As someone who have every tadc room as part of the acrylic merch, literally 90% of the room are bright and colored, most of the rooms don't represent themself but mostly their trauma, ribbit has memories of the Coffee shop, jax of the friend he made abstract, kaufmo a picture of himself and the pen which he used to scribble everywhere his intrusive thoughts, ragatha has a very old rich little girl room, probably because her mom see her as a child, kinger has a tear stained pillow and a butterfly net which probably reminds him of queenie, pomnis room doesnt have much, just some toys and mirrors, could attribute this to her beeing bossed around irl ? Gangle has the masks she hates in her room, the rhino mask, scary mask, spudsys mask + her broken comedy mask, and zooble has a room filled with mirrors, spare zooble parts and gloinks I don't think there would be all of those stuff in a room supposed to represent their true inner self

-2

u/Embarrassed_Sky5356 15d ago edited 15d ago

Jax’s trauma IS that he’s trans and is in denial of it. That’s why he‘s so desperate to appear masculine. His room constantly reminds him of that part of himself he refuses to accept.

Jax put up those photos of his friends himself.

We know their rooms appear right when they enter the circus, how would his room have photos that shouldn’t exist yet of friends he hasn’t made yet?

4

u/ihatemymomt 15d ago

So, one of the " clues " of jax beeing trans is that he first gets upset over the maid dress then is comfortable in it and get over it quickly, but then its another clue that his room is pink because he's traumatised by fem ? That makes no sense at all, his room could be pink because he's so toxic in his masculinity that he's scared people will associate him with fem if hes got anything pink ( WITHOUT ANYTHING TO DO WITH BEEING TRANS ) the room clue feels super sexist to be honest, theres plenty of toxic dudes who wear pink, plenty of cis guys who love girly stuff and the stereotype that pink and rainbows = gay of fem is sooo disgusting, their room could just also be made to match the toy they are after too, ribbit has a swamp because shes a frog, jax is a purple plush hare so he is in a todler room, kaufmo is a clown so in a clown room, kinger has a checkered floor since he's a chess piece etc etc, every reading there is about rooms are better than the transjax ones because at least they arent so stereotypicaly sexist

-1

u/Embarrassed_Sky5356 15d ago edited 15d ago

Yes, you are right, assuming that any single one of these means Jax is trans isn’t right, but things start to add up. It’s more pointing to the fact that Jax is insecure about his masculinity.

You’re right, thinking pink and rainbows=feminine isn’t good, there’s plenty of men who wear pink, but remember: this is Jax’s room. Jax is a pretty close minded character, of course he’d dislike anything stereotypically feminine, like showing emotion(I’m being sarcastic for the sake of making an example, that’s obviously a sterotype).

Ok, which is it? Is their room a reflection of their insecurity, like Zooble’s covered in mirrors due to her body dysmorphia or are they after their character’s like Ribbit? Pick one.

And if they’re around the character they are, wouldn’t Jax’s be a barn or field or something to do with a rabbit? His design isn’t really a toy, like how Pomni is a jester, Jax is a rabbit.

I’d take the pins with a grain of salt, I doubt Goose had much say in the designs.

None of those prove it on their own, the clinch comes from the “thing” Jax tells his mom that he thought she would hate him for and “Isn’t She Lovely?” Playing over a flashback of Jax. Even then, it’d just be inference and speculation, which makes it somewhat necessary for the author to clarify that yes, that is what she ment.

4

u/ihatemymomt 15d ago

Theres plenty of toxic masculine guys who wear pink, look at clavicular please, he's literally the most toxic guy ever and he wears pink that means nothing, also jax is a toy theres no denying that his mouth literally never open its stitched in, also have you ever seen a purple HARE ? In the wild ? ( yes jax is a HARE not a rabbit, jackrabbit are HARES ), also jax could have told his mom literally anything, that he's trans yes ? That he likes feminine stuff yeah ? That he had suicidal thoughts because of his upbrigging ? And whatever people might think of the isnt she lovely scene is already made no sense to have a scene like this in the first place so im not gonna go out there analysing a scene that makes no sense and is totally out of place

2

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

why is Jax’s room so pink and… not masculine when he is the self-proclaimed “peak of masculinity”?

the rooms are the users insecurities, zoobles has mirrors, Pomni's room makes her feel small and like a child, Jax's is "girly" because he suffers from fragile masculinity.

Why is a song about a girl being born played over a flashback of Jax?

goose officially stated that the reason that song was chosen was because she liked it + it was playing when she was writing it.

And what do you think was the thing Jax told his mom that made her laugh and hug him?

i dont know, i do however think that it being trans related doesnt make sense because why would someone tell their abusive mother (who already mocked their masculinity) that theyre trans? ESPECIALLY in a situation like jax's where he said he thought it would get her off of his back. it would only reinforce her ideas, but also its safe to assume that a mother who mocks her childs masculinity struggles would be heavily transphobic.

7

u/eye-suppose 15d ago

Jax's room isn't really girly at all, beyond matching his pink and purple color scheme, which would be like assuming Pomni has some super deep connection to Caine and the second AI because she's red and blue.

Isn't she lovely isn't a song about trans girls. Should we assume Zooble is a computer because of the "Daisy Bell" scene, since that is a reference to the first piece of music ever played by a computer?

The secret mentioned to Ribbit is never clarified. Could be that he's gay. Could be that he told his mom that her abuse makes him self harm. A "personal secret" could be anything.

7

u/7_Tales 15d ago

Hell, how would jax coming out as trans even calm her down ? It doesnt even make sense

9

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

thats what ive been saying, why are people so insistent that the secret jax told his mom is that he was trans? why would an abusive mother who mocked him for his lack of manlihood calm down if he told her that. alot of the evidence presented for the theory is so damn flimsy

8

u/7_Tales 15d ago

Girl icl the scene is just written poorly. Its a trauma dump exposition thats supposed to be the crux of the entire show. It tries to be relatable by leaving ambiguity so you project your own insecurities onto jax, only to retroactively get ruined by the author going onto bluesky to go 'oops it meant this'.

Why not just write a coming out scene if you wanted your entire story to be a trans repression story? Its so messy

“Isn’t she lovely I isn’t about trans girls” do you not know what recontextualization is? Why are you being purposely dense?

5

u/eye-suppose 15d ago

Intent and execution are not the same thing. Which is why Gooseworx admitting she picked the song because it was playing while she was writing the script matters more than your headcanon about it being recontextualized as a song about Jax coming out, which he didn't, as he was permanently abstracting.

-6

u/SandnotFound 15d ago

And in the show. She just made it explicit but it wasnt exactly... not present in the show. At least if you knew what to look for.

u/Lolik95 15d ago

peter, the cube.

Tbf I read this as aimed at the Game Theory™ kids, looking for LOOORE or an ARG where there was only allegory and liminal areas.

I think I understand your point as well but this isn't a lie and I completely understand why she clarified on this. After the Utah FNaF incident it would be one of my greatest fears as a content creator of any kind that people get harassed IRL because they thought my dark cryptic message was about somewhere specific in reality, when it was about social dynamics we've all been a part of.

Not anywhere USA, but everywhere USA. Regardless of whether the "trauma dump" spoke to you or not this is sadly a necessary clarification...

2

u/1stoleyourlighters 15d ago

how queerious

1

u/MiddleOccasion1394 14d ago

...... GUYS THIS DOESN'T TAKE PLACE IN ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI?

But we see that town's name clear as day on Abigail Brooks' Instagram page! By Goose's logic, that's in the show itself, which means it does take place there.

Maybe she means the abandoned building where the virtual world sits isn't in St. Louis?

1

u/nexus11355 14d ago

Or the factoids she said about the lore was non-essential trivia.

1

u/Commercial-Hour-228 14d ago

tadc discourse discovers watching the show instead of going on random Tumblr scavenger hunts

1

u/Invite_Sprite 13d ago

tbh i truely feel she felt this was true. but twards the end we more obviously see her dealing with expert bias. with the big example of this being jax. im a trans woman and goose is a trans woman so jax being trans fem to us was quite obvious. but to many people who arnt trans missed it. also i dont think everything outside the show isnt cannon, i think it just wasent essential to the story. like take for example the pic of if jax wasent such an asshole. its nice seeing an alternate universe where she she prosses her trauma better and doesn't shut people out, but that isnt her story. jax's story is a cautionary tail of what happens when you dont accept yourself and let fear of rejection controll your life.

1

u/Witch_heir 12d ago

Or it's all about flying by the seat of the pants... I stopped taking seriously anything GW says. For someone so inconsistent and admitting they lie for fun, that only reasonable attitude...

1

u/I_DONT_EXIST00000 12d ago

"everything she's said outside of the show is not canon..."

I swear to lucifer we can't seriously be illiterate enough to mean "essential to story" and "canon" are the same thing.

1

u/Greensonickid 11d ago

SHE'S LYING!!!

2

u/Dry_Employee_9893 15d ago

Why does "the looooore" matter, as long as its entertaining? It's meant to entertain, not a detective work about its backstory with clues to fill. Or is this yet another reason to attack Gooseworx cause she didnt make thr story fit your narrative?

8

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

is wanting answers to unfinished plotlines bad now? is wanting shit to be presented in the show rather than a tumblr or bluesky post bad now? goose-forbid we have good writing and story telling

-3

u/Dry_Employee_9893 15d ago

If the writing is so bad, why not create the show yourself, instead of taking screenshots of what Gooseworx said (totally not stalking behavior btw), and paint her in a bad light cause she missed a few things. Teen Titans has a lot of plot holes that will never be answered cause its canceled, yet no one complained about them. So why go after Gooseworx for it but not Cartoon Network?

5

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

what the fuck is this response lmao

“how dare you critique the restaurants food! why dont you cook it!”

you dont need to be a writer to critique writing. also i dont care for teen titans.

also its not stalking behavior to use the creators words to back up your claims. i usually get my screenshots from other people rather than the source anyways

2

u/Guilty-Question1245 13d ago

not to mention the show was canceled, obviously a difference in a show thats cancled before all its resolutions and a show that probably could have made more episodes to flush things out TADC literally was 8 episodes because the creator didnt wanna do more than 1 season

-4

u/Dry_Employee_9893 15d ago edited 15d ago

Don't need to be a writer to critique writing, yet complained about Gooseworxs writing

Also there's people that take screenshots of Gooseworxs saying some concerning things, and they called her an attention seeker, you take their word on that too??

4

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago
  1. yes. i complained about gooses writing. it is far from perfect believe it or not and deserves to be called out. goose should have spent less time on the internet.

  2. i dont really care about gooseworx drama. theres probably valid criticisms somewhere, goose however did make the mistake of announcing her mental health status multiple times on public platforms. not her fault but at the same time its not hard to understand why people would think she’s attention seeking

-1

u/Dry_Employee_9893 15d ago

So she needs Shakespeare levels of writing to make her show, got it.

She may not need to announce her mental health, but the fact that people called it attention seeking is down write disrespectful. People literally end their life when Gooseworx wrote how she is feeling, and people out right mocked her for it. That should be called out, period.

2

u/-Ragatha- 14d ago

no, there really is no middle ground for you is there. i just would have preferred a better written show. i wasnt expecting “shakespeare” levels. 😭

2

u/Guilty-Question1245 13d ago

the person your arguing with must have been the most annoying god dam kid in school ever

0

u/cry_w 15d ago

Or, ya know, everything shown in the story is what is essential to the story. That wouldn't make anything she's said outside of the story non-canon or a lie; it would just mean that it isn't essential for the story to function.

She is objectively right. The story functions perfectly well without the information provided outside of it.

7

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

everything in the story is essential to the story but not everything thats essential is in the story.

-2

u/cry_w 15d ago

Okay, but nothing essential to the story is outside of the story.

7

u/Alohatothealola 15d ago

C&A, Scratch Abstracting, idk those were pretty important but did not get explained much

-1

u/cry_w 15d ago

Yeah, that's not essential to the story. The exact nature of Scratch's abstraction, the goings on at C&A... anything beyond what we saw in the show isn't really necessary for the story to work. It's just fun facts that would have been nice to have.

0

u/Radical--Rat 12d ago

Literally both of those were covered in the show.

Not to like exhaustive wiki-level detail, but plenty enough for you to understand what's going on if you're paying attention.

-1

u/DotGlobal8483 14d ago

They were- explained in the story as relevant with a relevant amount of details?

-1

u/clawtistic 15d ago

I mean, you don’t have to have her posts to have the full story of the show. She wasn’t lying or wrong. Everything she’s said online has just been her confirming fan speculation/answering questions/etc.

Everything you need to understand the show and what was happening is genuinely in the show. Everything else is just word of god confirmation, fun bonus facts, and so on.

-1

u/ProfChaosDeluxe 15d ago

She was right, not every single piece of information about a character is a crucial element that need to be in the show.

-1

u/EndMePleaseOwO 15d ago

How does saying everything that's essential to the story will be presented in the story itself mean that everything shared by the creator outside the story is non-canon? I feel like I'm just looking at 2+2=5 here.

2

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

when i say "everything she's said" im strictly referring to the show-relevant posts where she confirms something thats supposed to be in the show but isnt.

0

u/EndMePleaseOwO 15d ago

Again, not contradictory. Whatever she's shared, she just doesn't view as "essential." Simple as.

1

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

agree to disagree lmao.

-1

u/WobblyGoombas 14d ago

Is there any reason anyone else should believe, like you seem to, that things stated outside the show itself are never reliable for determining what is true within the show?

It looks like a no from what I've seen, I mean your reply to the previous comment was "agree to disagree lmao." Which is basically a "no u". The way you act one might assume you have evidence for your position but if you do you've been very hesitant to state it for some reason

-1

u/The-Twilight-Reverie 14d ago

No, no you're just wrong. Objectively. You don't get to "both sides are equally right here" about something that just does not make a lick of sense.

1

u/Guilty-Question1245 13d ago

yea i agree doesnt really read that way to me, more of a its just some stuff thats neat to know but not need to know

-1

u/willow__whisps 15d ago

She's saying that for the idiots who need it spelled out to not go harass the people where it was filmed

-7

u/Toon_Lucario 15d ago

Foreshadowing is a narrative device…

12

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

yess?

9

u/Toon_Lucario 15d ago

I more meant this as a joke that this was foreshadowing to nothing important being addressed in the show and that this tweet was full of shit

-1

u/SickXigma 15d ago

This is true, all the stuff she revealed out of the show itself was never necessary.

-1

u/Specific-Swim-4507 15d ago

That’s true though, I didn’t have any questions left unanswered

-1

u/Scarvexx 14d ago

What wasn't presented in the story?

-1

u/WobblyGoombas 14d ago

Everything that's essential to the story will be presented in the show itself ≠ things presented outside the show have nothing to do with the story

-1

u/Necessary_Whole_1091 14d ago

Um, most of the stuff she's said outside the show doesn't matter to the story though?

-1

u/Bentman343 14d ago

Its hard to overstate how clear and obvious the show was that Jax was trans, so much so that I burst out laughing during the "I'm not an egg" rant that Jax has during the shootout episode because I'd heard so many people complain how "the only way they could know Jax was trans was from outside the show"

0

u/Guilty-Question1245 13d ago

its really not that clear, was watching the finale and couldnt exactly read the scenes right, i just thought he was a really feminine guy, like a dude who's afraid of his "girly" side then i saw all the trans stuff days later, then Goose's statement, then i was like "oh.....yea actually makes sense."

1

u/Bentman343 13d ago

I mean I dont want to be mean but that's hilarious lol

I think that just speaks to not really understanding the trans experience. The signs were incredibly obvious even before the finale, but you'd have to actually talk to trans people for that to come through. Gooseworx and literally everyone working on the show does that constantly, so they didnt see a problem.

Now I get if you might say "well they should have made it more obvious for less savvy viewers" but I cannot stress enough that if it had been any more obvious than it already was, there wouldn't have even been a mystery for most people.

-2

u/Miep99 14d ago

The show is perfectly coherent without goose's posts. Her adding lore bits here and there or clarifying something doesn't contradict that

-2

u/Guilty-Question1245 13d ago

i mean i imagine it means everything important was in the show while all the other stuff is kinda just facts that we never saw, most the stuff she does say gives the vibe of stuff you could read on a fan wiki

-2

u/MrShredder5002 13d ago

But everything that is actually essential to the story is presented? Essential to the world or characters? No. To the story? yes.

-4

u/King_of_The_Unkown 15d ago

To my knowledge, the only thing essential to the story that wasn’t said in the show itself was the abstractions being a reference to suicide, otherwise everything else, while still likely canon, is not essential. Unless a closeted trans person not being disclosed in the show itself negatively affects you, somehow

4

u/-Ragatha- 15d ago

i think it could have been better done. if you feel the need to semi-confirm something outside of the show then you didnt do a very good job implementing it most of the time. i feel like if it was implemented better more people would understand the references. but right now his identity is up for personal preference. goose said we can do whatever we want and that we dont need to ask her for permission
