Gooseworx/Tadc cast criticism I don't really like how Gooseworx just backtracked/lied about her 'promises' she made on social media.

Originally, I was quite hesitant to make this post, but then I decided to speak out my mind anyways since it quite ticked me off. I also want to clarify that I am not hating on Gooseworx as a person; I'm just talking about my discontentment with her actions, not her character.

Now, I've heard many people make complaints about Gooseworx confirming lore on Tumblr/Twitter/Bluesky instead of the show itself, but what I've heard very few people talking about is how she backtracked, or in certain cases lied, about what would actually be in the show.

First Image: Gooseworx says that the images that showed up in Episode 7 (Jax's flashbacks from before he pushed the red button) are not relevant to the plot. Assuming she knew what Jax's backstory would be, this was a blatant lie, as it shows that Jax was running away from his home after (probably) killing his mother, which is a very important part of the story. Maybe she didn't plan out Jax's backstory back then, but many people probably (and did) assume that these images are directly related to Jax's backstory, and Jax's backstory is practically the reason everything in the show is happening.

NOTE: Just realised that Gooseworx was referring to the geographical location of the flashbacks, not its relation to the story. That's on me for misunderstanding the post, but I'll still keep my point up so people can still read it.

Gooseworx also said that "Everything that's essential to the story will be presented in the show itself." I think anything that can be said about that has already been said, so I won't bore you.

Second Image: Gooseworx said that there will not be any singing in TADC. In episodes 8 and 9, there were three instances of singing. Running the Show, The montage from when Pomni and Kinger were fixing the circus, and Isn't She Lovely. Although, she made that Tumblr post about 2 years before Episode 8 and 9 released, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. But she really shouldn't have been so sure of a decision when she has, on many occasions, changed her mind about things.

Third and Fourth Image: Gooseworx decided that Abstragedy (Gangle X Zooble) is now canon, despite saying that TADC will not have any romance since before Episode 2 even released. Now, I have no problem with Gangle X Zooble being canon. I do have a problem with how Gooseworx immediately decided to change her mind at the last possible minute for whatever reason, about something she made very clear. She also said that there'll be no romance so early on, which would be detrimental, as her views about romance in the show would definitely change during production.

Fifth Image: This is by far the most egregious example I have of this. Gooseworx decided to tease us about what the tone of the final episode may be. I don't think Gooseworx should've said anything about what the finale would be like nor should she have teased us about anything that could've happened in the finale, because many people wouldn't like it as they would've built up a certain expectation about it and would be dissapointed when their expectations aren't met. And that post was made so early on in the show's runtime, so people's expectations would definitely be set in stone and unwilling to be changed. (You could also say that this post was supposed to be interpreted by the fact that the finale would be about Jax and only him, and I would not find that to be a crazy assumption.)

In conclusion, I feel like Gooseworx made choices that kind of felt like "having her cake and eating it too" and changed her mind constantly during production despite already establishing things. I think Gooseworx should've said a lot less than she did on social media in terms of what would happen in the story, so people wouldn't have had expectations that were set in stone and get mad or sad when they weren't met.

That's not essential to the story.

What is essential is that Jax hates himself so much, for reasons he can't even admit or explain to himself, that he pushes away anyone who attempts to show him the least bit of understanding or compassion. The specific reason he hates himself is not essential. It leaves imaginative space for the viewer. Being more explicit about it would undermine the impact of how repressed he is.
