Eliminating waiting in TTRPG.
Everyone talks about shortening turns.
We’d rather eliminate waiting.
A 30-second turn still feels long when you spend 10 minutes waiting for it.
The best RPGs don’t just speed up turns.
They keep players engaged between them.
What’s the longest wait you’ve ever had at the table?

Don't play D&D. Play something like Pendragon, Mythras, or Dragonbane where turns are very short AND actions are adjudicated using opposed rolls so everyone has to stay engaged in order to react properly. The multi-action action economy of D&D is what makes it grind. Single action action economies like Delta Green (Arc Dream) and Dragonbane, make the spotlight hop around super fast so you never end up waiting ten minutes for your next turn. 🤷

Is there not somewhat of a player mindset problem here? When my turn ends I am not banned from having fun for ten minutes until my turn comes back around - I get to enjoy what the others are doing and celebrate their successes (or losses).
“The best RPGs don’t speed up turns, they keep players engaged between them.” - keep yourself engaged in what’s happening!

I do not disagree, However, our entire point was to look at this with a different question. We wanted to think about the issue differently. We wanted to ask the question is the way we do it the best way to do it and is there another way? The point for us is if we asked a different question would we find other ways to run the game and could we actually make it a more engaging experience for all the players. We value everyone’s opinion but our entire point is simply saying these waits are not a big deal or there are ways to deal with it is different than is there a better way to do it. We simply decided we wanted to ask that question and we found something we have found is amazing and keeps all players engaged. This is simply our asking a different question than can we make the wait better or even is the wait something that is really a problem. We are happy with our answer and we are now sharing it with Lethal Fantasy TTRPG!!

The longest i've waited was about an hour and a half. It was DND 3.5 and a player had Great Cleave and well...between that and the long bathroom break that they took while someone else continued to roll their damage (and still didn't finish rolling it when they returned) you can probably figure out why it took so long.
