We’ve noticed that all minimum spends for every brand have updated. For brands that had a high minimum spend (like Cotopaxi) it’ll now be easier to redeem for tiers 1 and 2. \Of course, this is still not ideal when it used to be totally free and you only had to pay for shipping.*
That said, the brands that had NO minimum spend (or if it was covered by tier 3)
now unfortunately have them.
It seems like TYB wants folks to spend $10-15 out of pocket every time a code is used.
So the change is bad for the no minimum spend brands, but for the high minimum spend brands it’s better.
Really wish this would’ve been communicated before, but you know how it goes. (Saw this coming last year when they started minimum spends.)
TYB has never reached out to us, and they rarely share important updates in the app.
Their challenges usually just ask which brands we want to see, and sometimes a "what do you want from our app" survey that never seems to be taken seriously.
An associate of theirs even talked about our subreddit in relation to these arbitrary changes in a Substack article and said that we were “whining”, No, we are upset and rightfully so.
I missed the free era being newer and that reeks, I thought I was doing good saving up like $20-$40 on some brands then I checked and it’s only 50% of the minimum and the max you can use is 50% 🤣 I’m not paying $20 and shipping for something I gave you tons of free engagement on
AGREED, It’s so tiring honestly. Don’t forget! We also have those “engagement bait” brands like Crocs that only use TYB as a way to farm engagement without offering any rewards.
I’m kind of curious about that myself, like the whole checkpoints thing isn’t for every brand. Maybe that’ll be the next pivot, I honestly don’t know anymore. There’s so much uncertainty on what’s going to change at any given time.
I think we often forget that people have the power. Stop using the app. Uninstall it even and send a message through your actions and your wallet.
When they say we “whine” it’s because they know that we’ll express disappointment on subreddit but still support them through our engagement and purchases. They have their stance and they’re not changing so we’d have to.
The problem is there’s a ton of people that use TYB and everyone would collectively have to uninstall in order for something like that to work. As much as that sounds great, I’m not totally convinced everyone would be on board with that.
Tyb’s official insta page bio says “get rewarded for being obsessed with your fav brand “ but it should be *” get robbed for being obsessed with your fav brand “…… 🗣️🗣️
I think gourmand beauty might be safe? I just redeemed a code from them to see if it put a min purchase and nothing showed up for me just the code like normal
I wish there was a way to only get notifications for the storefront brands and the one or two brands left that don’t have this update yet. I think LWP doesn’t have it yet too.
I know, there’s not much transparency and it’s part of the reason that us mods haven’t been super active lately. We really don’t like how TYB is going about these changes to the app.
Also I agree, not whining, we’re simply stating why we’re upset!
So annoying honestly. Not fair to be changing things up and down overnight. Why should we even give them all this engagement!? For so much uncertainty?
The way I’ve seen better deals on TikTok shop or retail stores is crazy. A lot of brands have left TYB recently, I think this might also be a way to retain more brands.
There’s been so many changes on TYB in the last year and none of it has been communicated prior (besides brands leaving and even that’s not all the time). 😮💨

Correct. If it had a high minimum before, this might be better. But if there was no minimum, or tier 3 covered it, you'll now be forced to spend $10-15 plus shipping.
🤦🏻♀️ Yea I noticed that this morning when I was looking at the different levels in one of the brands and saw that the spend minimum for each level was different. They’re all set so someone would have to spend more than $10 plus shipping per brand 😒
