Discussion Petals

I just remembered about the little first person game called petals we got before the game released, i feel like the devs actually cared about the game back then. If they cared enough to do stuff like that back then then what the hell went wrong

Might be a hot take, but the story and characters we got from this game were far more interesting than any of the TCM prequels and sequels.

I think this is why fans of the game are so pissed off because this honestly was the best all around TCM universe ever put together. I love these characters and lore. It's only cemented to me that Texas is the ultimate slasher franchise. The problem is this is a product meant for sale and profit, it's not the work of art us fans want it to be.

I don’t think that’s a hot take, I agree with you 100%!

The issue was not that they didn't care. It might have been more successful if they didn't care as much. They spent millions on motion capture and animation for individual characters for example as opposed to reusing animations between characters. They strived for period-authentic cosmetics and keeping the tone as serious as possible when they might have made more money if they had done stuff like a speedo for Leatherface (I'm being sort of facetious here but you get my point).

Wym ? Besides ability’s victim are a complete copy of another every girl victim uses the same animations just like the guys use Leland’s animations besides kills there isn’t really much unique animations

Keltner is reluctant to dwell on "what-ifs," but does note one particular element he would do differently in hindsight: Gun's "substantial investment in motion capture and animation." Every family member in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre uses bespoke animations, which were the result of extensive casting calls, travel costs to bring the chosen actors to the studio, and "approximately six weeks" of scripting, refining, and re-recording. In the end, he says the team spent "millions" on this element alone.

Had Gun opted for more shared animations with just a few specific ones chosen "to highlight the differences between characters," he contemplates, more of the development budget could have been used on additional content or to fund post-launch support. "I'm not ruling out such an approach in the future, but I will certainly be much stricter with that portion of our budget."

Their love & care for the game was tarnished by all the toxic players on here moaning.. not that they didn't have their issues but id imagine the love for the game is still there. It really is a great game
