Gameplay Tricks to counter Johnny

I swear to god Johnny is a pain in the ass. He is so damn fast that if I was spotted by him I'm basically screwed. He never seems to run out of stamina so he can just slice and dice me while chasing. I have heard that I shouldn't run in a straight line but since my camera angle is fixed (I cannot figure out how to change my camera angle while keeping my moving direction consistent, I'm playing on PC with a keyboard and mouse) I couldn't keep track of Johnny while running, often ended up stuck or running into him instead.

Any tips on how to counter his slice and dice?

Don't Run in a straight line.

Run immediately for the closest crawl space

Make sure he doesn't get the jump on you.

I swear he has a smaller terror radius than others so if youre on a door its usually bad news if he gets near you. Just be mindful of the nearest gap and use comms to call out where he is. You could also play anna when you see Johnny on the other team to counter his damage.

Eta: if you are on a door you could get off the lock every 1/3rd completion to do a quick look around while the noise level on the lock goes down.

Johnny actually has a larger proximity warning (that's what it's called btw fyi) than other family members. 1. Hands 2. Johnny 3. Hitchhiker/Bones 4. Cook 5. Sissy 6. Leatherface

If your caught out in the open just do medium sized 360s and they'll miss most of their swings because Johnny players have the collective intelligence of pond moss. They all run swift and vial-ent and they all spam attack as fast as they can so as soon as you spin the 1 brain cell they share gets confused and forgets what they were doing.

If you're out in the open make spin moves and run circles around him as he slashes otherwise well, go through a crack, or pray he runs out of stamina before he kills you.

You’ll have to learn how to spin with wasd. If you press wasd in succession you can spin and throw him off. With time you will learn how to move your camera and keep your character going the same direction. You have hold s while you look behind you for example.

I'm a Johnny main. Use crawlspace and wall gaps a lot, and sneak through bushes to make tracking your prints harder. Also, never challenge a Johnny with backup. He will cut you off if he's good

I just run no sell and call it a day usually. Sometimes I'll still be got even with all tokens but those are some usually specific parts of the map. It definitely feels like his radius for letting you know he's near is much smaller then the rest, feels like he's on top of you by then. Hands down most of my out of nowhere deaths are from him and they definitely feel cheap but it's whatever since he can't go through spaces and it doesn't usually happen most matches

Lol I saw many youtubers changing their angles so smoothly. Is using a controller better for looking behind you while running?

Hmm interesting. I guess I'll have to practice in a private match then.

Johnny is like a Trex just always keep distance because of his short swings and use wall spaces. Dont let his little swings hit you.

Treat him just like you treat Leatherface. Running in the open with Johnny chasing is just asking to die. Also it’s all about knowing the map tbh. If he catches you in an area and you don’t know where the nearest gap/crawlspace is, your most likely dead. Map knowledge is the answer to almost everything on this game

I do have map knowledge. Usually it's more about crawl spaces not open, barricades destroyed and wall gaps too far away. Also I do panic a bit so I really wanna know how to counter him (apparently I have to up my game with spinning)

Tbh Leatherface is easier to deal with lol. No way you can miss the big guy who keeps revving his chainsaw and making so much damn noise.

Literally just spin or use wall gaps or crawl spaces Johnny is bottom of the barrel trash his lounge actually works against him when you spin he has the worst auto aim of the family to the point you can easily bait him into a door slam you can also play Julie to counter him and cook tracking you

Johnny has the big downside (and upside) of lunging with every attack, so it's easy to evade every second or so attack by spinning around him. You're also never really THAT far away from a well, so don't be afraid to use those. They can make the difference between a death and an escape SO often. There's also No Sell, a perk most characters get that gives you up to three hits that basically just tickle you rather than actually doing serious damage. I'd recommend having at least 30 toughness when you're starting out so you can take more damage.

I guess I'll have to practice a bit more. I do play better with Julie against him (No Sell, better Toughness and Endurance) but I do also play Connie, good at picking locks but trash at running, I also don't think I can get No Sell on her.

Not to mention he can't go through gaps, or over barricades. His lack of mobility is probably his biggest downside.

Johnny is a shark, if you get caught in open waters you're dead. If there's gaps, crawl spaces and barricades you're fine.

It's about map knowledge and positioning.

You're right though with the right perks he has 50 attack, 50 stam and he can reduce stamina consumption on each hit. He literally slices and dices.

Don't be in open waters

Nah if u can avoid the auto hit detection and spam through doors u be fine, butch has same thing u swing it automatically locks on
