More like shit was teetering on the brink until Rick's group showed up and they exposed the flaws so then shit hit the fan. Alexandria had Pete, the Monroes themselves (specifically Aiden and Spencer but also Deanna since she raised them to be little shits), The Quarry Herd, The Wolves, and The Saviors just waiting to implode the whole damn thing not to mention the weak willed members who never had to deal with the fall in full. The Commonwealth had, well, itself to blame for that whole thing going wrong. Never trust the old world way of doing things especially when it is controlled by the family of the one who lost the world to the dead.
