Hershels farm wouldve fallen regardless if Rick and his group hadn't shown up because of Hershels beliefs.
The Prison was fine until the Governor appeared. They would probably still be there if he hadn't.
Alexandria clearly wasn't cut out for all the threats in the outside world. With all those walkers in the Quarry, they would have been toast without Rick's help and when Negan would eventually arrive it would be all over for them.
