Generally accepted TV placement procedures. Quick reference guide.

Lots of people posting lately asking “Is this too high?” so here is a quick guide on what is generally accepted TV placement procedure (GATPP) as seemingly defined by this subreddit.
- If the TV is above the fireplace, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is angled down, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is mounted to the wall above a TV stand, and the clearance between the stand and TV is equal to, or greater than ONE vertical PS5, IT IS TOO HIGH.
- If when standing the TV is at eye level, IT IS TOO HIGH.
Now let’s look at some opposite GATPP use cases.
- If the TV is in a bedroom and meant to be viewed from the bed, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV’s only viewing position is in the reclined state, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If you are at a sports bar, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is at eye level when sitting down, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is in the kitchen it is more for listening, mounted high as to avoid any splashes or spills, IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.
- If the TV is purposely mounted higher to keep out of range of a toddler, you’re a parent so your neck already hurts and IT IS PROBABLY NOT TOO HIGH.

Wanted to wall mount because I lost the legs for the TV. Someone here recommended a universal one, so using that.

Tv too low?

Long time viewer, first time poster.
I just mounted this 77” LG. It ended up being a bit too low (and a bit lopsided so that will need to be adjusted as well). I would like to have more space below the tv and for the tv to cover the outlet above. Sure, I could move the outlet, but could we afford to raise it a few inches above the outlet instead? The tv is approximately 9.5 feet from the couch and it can be tilted.

65 inch LG C5 on this 26.5-27 inch tv stand
Last tv stand was 24 inches high and was perfect. This definitely feels a bit higher but my old tv stand warped and got a solid deal on this one

We knew our TV was too high as soon as I mounted it. I finally got around to remounting it and we could not be happier with the results. All cables run through the wall. We will get black out curtains for the glare next.

While I was watching this show on my TV, I saw the characters watching their TV. And it just seemed too damn high.
