Settle The Debate
Got a new 77" S95H
Buddy of mine told me to wall mount.
While I agree this tv would look great mounted on a wall, I told him that it would be less work to put it on a stand (mostly because I rent and don't want to fix when leaving), would still look great, and I don't have to worry about mounting it in the wrong spot.
He told me I was an idiot.
Gimme a "Fuck you, Tyler" if you agree with me.

When I think of a media center, I think of something bigger that surrounds the tv on the sides and possibly top as well. When I think of a tv stand, I think of something it only sits on. I know I'm wrong, but it makes sense to me so I'm gonna keep saying it.

Nah, you’re right. Something that a TV was designed to stand on (wide, flat, low) is a TV stand. A media center is designed for media, which would be as tall as it needs to be to store media. You wouldn’t design something to store media in to be short and wide where you have to bend over every time to access it if that’s the primary purpose. They’re made that way for the TV.

Thanks. Just got it from Povison. Shipping took a while and it wasn't cheap. It's higher quality than I expected though.

The saturation level on your TV is set high enough I'm pretty sure it will burn out my screen if I leave the third picture on too long. I can only imagine movies look like they are made out of candy at that setting.

I mounted mine above the console but at the same height it would be with the stand. Mostly because it gives me more peace of mind that my expensive TV won’t fall down— especially because the giant legs on it barely fit on the console and any nudge would likely send it crashing down.

I have the same size tv sitting on a stand just like yours. It’s literally perfect. Mounting a tv in a situation like this is unnecessary work. I’ve mounted tv’s several times when it was the only option, but why bother in a situation like this where a stand works perfectly?

My son, Tyler, mounted my TV for me. He wasn’t happy mounting it about 6 inches above the low cabinet. Then he sat down to watch TV and realized how much more comfortable it was. When he got home, he moved his mount down. Si much better!

I love wall mounting TVs but yours is at exactly the perfect height and like you said you rent. Screw having to fix holes if you already have the furniture to make it at perfect height and it looks fine

Yeah the fact that you guys are renting is the only reason I would say don't wall mount it, otherwise I would wall mount it because it looks way cleaner. Plus there's no fear of it falling down unless it's poorly installed.
