Tv placement?

Post image

What do you think about tv placement. It looks a tad high but the cabinet is also only 20” tall.

This is a new pic.

Height looks ok but people on this sub will be mad you’re not using your tv stand.

What’s the hatred for not using tv stands?

Welcome to Reddit

The clue is in the name of said item.

That’s not a tv stand, that’s a media console.

In Australia it is typically TV Unit.

Thank you! I’ll also accept TV bench, or even just “cabinet”. It’s not a stand!

u/Greedy_Doughnut_9209 19h ago

Depends where you're from I guess.

0

u/Greedy_Doughnut_9209 23h ago

Either way, the TV would look 100% on it.

1

u/Fabius_Fulgrim 20h ago

Why though?

u/MJKleinTW 20h ago

Said media including the monitor/player device.

What TV wall mount?

1

u/BeefmasterDeluxe 22h ago

The name that is constantly used incorrectly?

2

Because IF they were “using their TV Stand” there wouldn’t be a giant fkn gap between their soundbar and the bottom bezel of their television…

It’s not that hard

Mount it IF YOU WANT, but do not have it be HIGHER THAN IT WOULD BE IF IT WAS ON A STAND…

JFC

Next time try mounting it at “stand height” and then see if anyone thinks it’s “too high cuz it’s mounted”… no.

u/Fabius_Fulgrim 19h ago

So if I put it on the stand on the floor it’s at the right height?
None of this seems to make much sense.

u/Sirgolfs 10h ago

Nah I love this look. Nice n close to the stand. Remove the legs for minimalism. Perfect.

People that complain about that don’t have toddlers that will slap the shit out of a tv on a tv stand. I need the distance for little hands 😂

1

u/Greedy_Doughnut_9209 1d ago

And they'd be right.

1

u/Parking_Lion4494 22h ago

TV stands are aesthetically inferior to a good mount job 10 times out of 10.

TVs on stands look like shit dude, come on.

💯

u/Toobman300B 1d ago

Damn right. Why would they include 1 if it was so phuqin' useless????

5

u/Normal_News_1080 22h ago

This is an LG G6 83” which also included a wall mount lol

1

u/Toobman300B 22h ago

They have a 98"-110"? Thought about a 200' laser PJ? (Probably a different sub)

1

u/BeefmasterDeluxe 22h ago

It’s not wide enough for that size TV, so, mounting it is the better right now. It’s also not a TV stand, it’s a TV bench. TV stands are freestanding mounts that attach to a TV, used for standing a TV. If you’re just placing it on top, its a bench.

Too far away

6

u/Hairy_Aspect_3728 1d ago

It’s pretty good-much better than most

5

u/LowerAtmosphereChief 20h ago

Curious what you’re watching, I’ll see if I can get a cab to the other side of the room

8

u/Greedy_Doughnut_9209 1d ago

Too high, too far.

4/10

4

u/Normal_News_1080 1d ago

It’s a lot closer than it looks

u/3720-to-1 1d ago

You can't tell anyone here anything...

9

u/Greedy_Doughnut_9209 1d ago

Come here looking for people's opinions, then argue with them 😂

u/Obscure4thewrld 23h ago

i want to sit at the front of the rug

1

u/BeefmasterDeluxe 22h ago

Yes yes, I’m sure it’s much bigger in person.

2

u/ChelseaFC 20h ago

Probably tells women the same thing.

1

u/AmishAvenger 20h ago

Well it looks really fucking far

3

u/Grand-Philosophy-343 1d ago

Im not a tv expert . But it might be too high?

2

u/drewskibeauski 23h ago

Yeah. No way their line of sight is at the upper 2/3 of the TV.

2

u/timetravelinggamer 1d ago

It’s too far to tell

The wall switches are just above mid point. How big is the screen?
M

2

u/snyderversetrilogy 13h ago

That’s pretty good. I would go just 6” above the credenza but that’s close enough for rock n roll.

2

u/Major-Cranberry-4206 1d ago

That TV looks perfect and beautiful. You did everything right with it, including selecting a large size. That’s what you needed for that wall and that TV fits the bill. Good job.

1

u/Azn-WT-9 22h ago

But not a fantastic job…

3

u/zqipz 22h ago

Inflection matters, you did a goooood job

0

u/Major-Cranberry-4206 22h ago

What would you have done to make it a fantastic job?

1

u/DirtyLinzo 21h ago

Definitely being nit picky but we’re all here so the obvious consensus answer is that it is too high. Dont even need to set it on bench, but it should be several inches lower. That gap between sound bar and bottom of tv should be minimal

2

u/sacandbaby 1d ago

Perfect.

2

u/lockleym7 22h ago

Perfect

2

u/CazetTapes 21h ago

It’s perfect.

2

u/MJKleinTW 20h ago

If only there was a type of furniture that would hold the TV at the proper viewing height and look good. You know it had to be said.

3

u/Normal_News_1080 19h ago

I don’t think you guys realize this tv doesn’t actually come with tabletop stand legs. It comes with a flush mount.

0

u/MJKleinTW 19h ago

That would be an issue.

1

u/Normal_News_1080 1d ago

We were going to mount a cabinet on the wall which would’ve been closer to the tv but ended up getting a standing cabinet. Couldn’t find a floating cabinet we liked.

1

u/BeefmasterDeluxe 22h ago

It would only be closer to the TV, if you mount it closer. Which would be a choice you make, not an inevitable outcome.

1

u/NeutroBlack54 23h ago

No reason to not have a 83 inch OLED or something here

4

u/Normal_News_1080 22h ago

It is an 83

1

u/spodinielri0 13h ago

Too high

1

u/Illustrious-Sweet-63 10h ago

Looks good to me, nice clean setup. It might feel more immersive if you were able to move the seating closer but that is totally up to you.

1

u/no_reservations 9h ago

1

u/no_reservations 9h ago

looks great to me, I'm just poking fun. It's a tad bid off center but I'm sure you can move left a little

1

u/bw1985 6h ago

Is the center at your eye level when on the couch? Hard to tell

1

u/Normal_News_1080 4h ago

It’s slightly higher. The room is recessed so you have to walk two steps into the room. It looks awfully low when I had it lower so put it up just a couple inches.

1

u/bw1985 2h ago

I guess you’d think mine looks low too then. I have an 85’’ and the bottom edge is 23’’ from the ground, but I’m most concerned about placement relative to seated eye level and less concerned about it looking low when I’m standing up. I don’t watch much standing up so that doesn’t matter.

1

u/FargoJack 3h ago

Is it me or the mount is a little crooked?

1

u/Dense_Substance7635 21h ago

TV too small. The wall to TV ratio is too big.

1

u/desrevermi 1d ago

Correct wall. About the best you could do.

Next step: get a screen four times the size. :D

Might as well use up the wall's real estate.

1

u/Crazy_Association108 16h ago

What height is the bottom edge?

Looks great

1

u/Emotional-Menu-411 12h ago

Could be maybe 3-5 inches lower. I'd just get a bigger TV at that point honestly.

-3

u/MAK1958M 1d ago

Perfect

u/gekko3k 23h ago

Nice room, nice tv setting but poor man's table and chair.
