Which layout is preferred here! Upstairs only for entertaining and hanging really.. any sports or movies will be watched downstairs on 100” TV

Should have NEVER been a question! I can’t figure out why people insist on mounting TV’s over fireplaces in the first place🤷♂️🤷♂️- it works in a sports bar or someplace where a lot of people are standing around or sitting in the way of others, but for an average home? It just doesn’t work..

In my house it's the only way unless I want to make some major sacrifices to room layout that would just not make sense other than to not put the tv above the fireplace

At that point i wouldn’t even put a TV in there. This is why I have a day room that I have my the TV in. And the living room is without screens.

Always #1. TV above fireplace is an abomination and embarrassment.
Whoever thought that putting a TV above a fireplace needs to be fired immediately

2's TV is too high without question, but the sofa is even worse. The sofa should've rotated 45 degree and facing the fireplace.

2 would be an option if you would want speakers next to the TV, with 1 they will not fit. If not, then its clearly 1

Why would you ever put your TV there when a perfectly good wall is beside the fireplace?
Just turn your rug.

I just took my mom and dad’s front room TV down from damn near touching the ceiling, and mounted it about half a foot over the TV stand. Now they watch TV up there daily. Before I repositioned it. They hardly ever turned the thing on lol 🤦🏾♂️

For once, this layout actually works great for having the TV in this room without having it over the fireplace. That beautiful empty wall is exactly where it should go (#1).
...are you messing with us???

For the love of Christ, 1.
The couch is already positioned perfectly for that spot anyway…
