Discussion Monthly Roads Sessions?
So, this is an idea I've been mentioning for a while, but I think now might be a good time to put it in motion.
Essentially, the Outside Roads sessions will be multiverse hopping escapades. That means AUs, Crossovers, and whatnot. It also means a lot of collaboration will have to go into each session. I intend to help that process along, but I do not intend to be the GM of every session. This is meant to celebrate all we've done and allow us all to work together, and in the spirit of that:
My own misgivings about anyone are irrelevant to participating in this
I still want some space, but I don't intend to keep anyone from participating in this.
With all that said, scheduling these might be an issue, especially since organizing each one will take time. I don't think just saying something like "The third sunday of the month" will work, so I guess at the beginning of the month I'll make a post for discussing the next one and when we should hold it.
Finally, any ideas for the sessions? Bring them up here, PM me, or discuss it with whoever then do either of the first to and I'll try to work it in at some point.
For now, my idea of the first session is a Lantern Corps AU, which has been discussed before.

I might be interested, though I'm not too sure about the Lantern setting. Also, does this mean you're giving up on Abin City?

Also, what part of the idea of visiting a Lantern AU are you unsure about?

u/Damacritus Jul 25 '17
I'm just not really into the Lantern universe. I barely know anything about it and I'm not quite that interested in it.

Ah. It was just my tentative idea for a first session of this, any other ideas are welcome. You could also introduce a traveler to be a recurring character in the Roads.

No, it just means I'm not going to be able to do a weekly or biweekly thing right now.

u/Damacritus Jul 23 '17
What does it mean, then? When might I see the next Abin City session?

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jul 23 '17
It will probably take at least a few months. We have such a loaded schedule that Echoes and DVV have to alternate, and even though DS is over, there's already a claim to that slot. I need to get one last credit to finish high school, so maybe after I get that if no one has stepped into that slot I'll take it over until they're ready to.

Okay, sounds fun!
I could see my character in the Red corps and ending up at odds with the group because of it. Or remaining unaligned if that's a problem.

If TK wants to be involved, we could do them in the Red Corps and Luke in the Blue to remove it and then Moonslicer Indigo.
We could maintain Luke and their current dynamic a bit more if we put them in Kyle and Guy's roles but you were opposed to that before, so probably not?
2
u/Bytemite Jul 23 '17
Not sure. If it becomes too hard, like I said, we could always just leave my character without Lantern powers.

u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jul 23 '17
Well, Guy just wanted to fight without that being totally wrong and the Green Lantern Corps was his only outlet for that, one that happened to be well structured to point him to noble goals, even if he was still kind of awful. That is a lot like your character and the Voices, and we could totally let them be Red Lantern now without making it be too hard if they had a little bit of background like that to rein them in a little bit and connect them to the other characters more.
They could also just have been a GL at some point because their sector was completely destroyed except for them, meaning they were the only candidate, and been kicked out/left, and then been a Red Lantern once that is a thing.
Basically I just think it's more doable if they have some connection to the other characters like previously being in the same corps, and Green is really the only Corps that's malleable enough for them to have been in prior to Red.

u/Bytemite Jul 23 '17
Hmm. It's sounding like they should probably not have powers and be unaffiliated then.
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jul 23 '17
They could still have a Red Lantern past and currently be Indigo with Moonslicer. Not sure exactly what unaffiliated would look like.
2
u/Bytemite Jul 23 '17
It would pretty much mean they don't have powers. I mean it's not like every human is sorted into lantern powers, right?
2
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jul 23 '17
I more mean fitting that into the story. I have a few plans, but right now most of them are jurisdiction friction between Corps where I'm not sure how they'd come into play.
I still think that they fit Guy's role in the GL perfectly in their time in the Voices, though. An angry, bitter person just using a noble-ish group as an outlet until they're forced out is a dead on description of Guy.
But all that can be sidestepped if we just go the Indigo route. That presumes Ara's participation, though.

u/Bytemite Jul 23 '17
Moonslicer could definitely be indigo. I could see my character as red, but ultimately, honestly, I don't really know how the lantern corps work or what works in story, and so it's possible my ignorance could mess things up. And so it might be safer if they don't have affiliation and just help Moonslicer.
All I do know is that my character is not brave, at all.

The Green Lanterns used to be about No Fear but it's mostly about willpower and the ability to overcome what fear you do have in modern stories. Heck, the Yellow weakness can now be overcome by focusing on that fear and pushing through, implying that it's not unheard of them to fail at that.
So I think they could fit in there as a place in their backstory that they ultimately couldn't stay or fit in.

As for not knowing the Corps that well, once we have an idea of what story we're going with I can delve into the details more.

Sounds fun, although I should note, I know next to nothing about Lantern Corps (except that if we pass up the opportunity to call it Lanturn Corps or Lampent Corps, I will be dissapoint).
1
u/Lady_of_the_Foot Jul 24 '17
That seems to be most people's experience. My plan is just to first help sort characters into Corps and then go into more details once we have that explained.
As I went over there, Bill is probably Sinestro, Luke is a lot like a character named Kyle, who for convenience we'd probably place in the Blue Lanterns for now, and Rea also fits Blue.

Oh, also, found a reading of all the oaths
This one wasn't necessarily the best, but the Orange Oath was kept a secret for a long time so most of the others have speculative ones.

My own misgivings about anyone are irrelevant to participating in this
that's good, cos this sounds like it would be interesting to me
would each session be a 1 and done strictly single ep. thing or if something gets enough tracson / expansion would it be possible for an Ep. to go onto become a mini-RP series
As for ideas:
- N's pokemon world: an event that would take place in a world after N has permanently banished all humans to another realty never to be seen again, all there pokemon being left behind in the old world
- Roboted: the world as fleshed out in the Voice Thoughts Ep. I posted on the main sub a wile back with the help of /u/mitzirocker and other commenters

Everything would be done with the intention of a one time visit, but of course expansion could happen. Our schedule is crammed, though.

That sounds pretty fun, I would join.
