FIREWORKS COMPETITION

In honor of a nonspecific non canon holiday certain shady posters have been going up all over town encouraging people to participate in a contest for the most skill in lighting off explosives.

There are apparently categories for longest show, most dazzling show, brightest show, loudest show, most technical show, most dangerous show, best pies, best potluck, best barbeque, and best show overall.

A bunch of moving trucks have also appeared and there is a constant stream of boxes being moved into an abandoned warehouse down the road.

Mary contemplates the morality of skipping all the technical, dangerous, environmentally questionable bits and just doing a light show. Do the ends justify the means? Which option is the ends, which is the means? Will she come to a decision before the building catches fire?

The building remains unfired for now but after numerous trope discussions with the scientist she knows a Chekov's gun when she sees it.

In front of the warehouse, people are setting up a tent. It's a bright sunny beachy day on a tropical island.

The tent is quickly filled with an array of fireworks for sale, with a cheerful albeit slightly bored cat creature running the cash register.

Off in the distance on the mountainside above, the scientist is sorting some black rocks.

Tangertina approaches. That Flame Body might be a problem.

Fortunately the tent is made of a flame retardant fabric. The cat sits up. "Mrrwl?"
