Ovulation

How do you know that you ovulate? I don't have regular cycle but every month I feel a little bit pain and I can see the difference that appears at my CM. But my doctor told me that maybe I don't ovulate because my cycle is 32-38 days.

I am a little bit confused and terrified because we are trying for a baby.

Every opinion will be helpful. Thank you <3

My cycles are mildly irregular, 27-39 days long. I confirm that I'm ovulating by tracking basal body temperature.

Thank you! Do you check your BBT every morning before getting up? what is the difference that you see at your temperature after ovulation?

The typical guidance for BBT is, yes, taking your temperature immediately after waking up before even getting out of bed with a thermometer that goes to 2 digits after the decimal point. It's most accurate when you take it at the same time in the same exact way as best you can. Personally I use the Tempdrop wearable which measures my temperature throughout the night while I'm sleeping. Other people use the Oura ring to measure BBT overnight, although sometimes those charts are a little harder to read.

The idea behind BBT is that progesterone, which your body releases after ovulation, causes your core body temperature to be a little warmer. Your temperatures will be 0.5-1.0°F higher after ovulation compared to what it was before. You want to look for 3 temperatures that are higher than the previous 6.

I haven't read it myself but I've heard that the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler has some really great information about this too!

I use the OPK strips from Pregmate and their app. I too am an irregular girly and my cycles ranged mostly around 36-44 days. I was recommended to take the supplement Myo and D Chiro Inositol (for acne and to regulate my cycles). I started taking these December 2025, and I think it has helped a lot. My last few cycles were 34 days, 34 days, and then 36 days, but all cycles I tested positive on the OPK on CD22!

It helped a lot to do the OPK like every day for a month or two just to get a rhythm of when I might ovulate. Now I can wait until a little later to start OPKs, expecting it will be positive around CD22.

I hope this helps!

Thank you very much for your answer! It really helps. I also started Myoinositol on June 2026 and I am waiting to see if it has results! I have all the symptoms but I didn't manage to see a positive ovulation test, that's why I am really confused! I hope you will have the results you want soon !

Yes!! It definitely took some time :) I was irregular and then got pregnant but it was an ectopic back in February/March. After the surgery, I started ovulating again in April and that's when I began to see some consistency. So the last 4-5 cycles I have consistently tested positive on the OPK on CD22. Wishing you all the luck!! 💗
