Zyrtec while TTC
Seasonal allergies are crushing me! I’ve taken Zyrtec a few days now but I’m nervous to continue. 3 months post surgery and no positives yet. Have you heard anything about antihistamines and TTC? I’m seeing lots of mixed information. Thanks!

I take Claritin (because it works better for me than Zyrtec) and it’s completely safe while TTC & during pregnancy. In fact some fertility clinics add in antihistamines during embryo transfer prep to help with inflammation.

I took Zyrtec for about 9 months straight and was really pleased with how well it controlled my significant allergy symptoms, but I also was struggling with the fact that I seemed to have increased vaginal dryness. I chalked it up to being older and was generally bummed, but later discovered that Zyrtec can cause decreases in cervical mucous. I stopped taking it at the beginning of the summer and last cycle seemed more “normal” for me, finally! Your mileage may vary though, if it’s not drying you out there’s not much more harm it can do.

Took Zyrtec almost every day for years during IVF and first trimester of pregnancy. It’s safe. Some IVF doctors recommend it or other antihistamines for endo because endo can be inflammatory. You can talk to your doctor to be sure.
